Yidnar, this animus of Democrats for Republicans has been going on long before Watergate and may date back to Ante-bellum days when northern and southern branches of some traditional churches was rent assunder over political power of Northern cotton-mills insisting Southern growers had to give them better prices than foreign countries, so the blue and the grey/butternut uniforms began replacing coats and tails. The Blue chose the precepts of the Constitution for their banner and the Grey selected fiscal betrayal as theirs.
