Hell, where is it? What is it?

The Wrath of God

It is tragic that so many preachers and Christians today idolize Jonathan Edwards powerful sermon, SINNERS IN THE HANDS OF ANGRY GOD. Please don't misunderstand me, it is a GREAT sermon, and one which every person in the world needs to hear today; but why do we have to go back to the 18th century to find a benchmark of Hell, fire and damnation sermons? Every preacher, pastor, televangelist and Bible teacher in America ought to be preaching the same message as Jonathan Edwards. Please read this brief excerpt from Jonathan Edwards' famous sermon,

SINNERS IN THE HANDS OF AN ANGRY GOD
...

“The God that holds you over the pit of Hell, much as one holds a spider, or some loathsome insect over the fire, abhors you, and is dreadfully provoked: His wrath towards you burns like fire; He looks upon you as worthy of nothing else, but to be cast into the fire; He is of purer eyes than to bear to have you in his sight; you are ten thousand times more abominable in His eyes, than the most hateful venomous serpent is in ours. You have offended Him infinitely more than ever a stubborn rebel did his prince; and yet it is nothing but His hand that holds you from falling into the fire every moment. It is to be ascribed to nothing else, that you did not go to Hell the last night; that you was suffered to awake again in this world, after you closed your eyes to sleep. And there is no other reason to be given, why you have not dropped into Hell since you arose in the morning, but that God's hand has held you up. There is no other reason to be given why you have not gone to Hell, since you have sat here in the house of God, provoking His pure eyes by your sinful wicked manner of attending His solemn worship. Yea, there is nothing else that is to be given as a reason why you do not this very moment drop down into Hell.”

SOURCE: SINNERS IN THE HANDS OF AN ANGRY GOD! by Jonathan Edwards;preached in Enfield, Connecticut; July 8, 1741

Can you imagine Joel Osteen saying that to his congregation? Instead of 70,000 people attending his church every Sunday in Houston, Texas, he'd be preaching to empty seats! Can you imagine Pat Robertson saying something like that on TV?

Oh, if only preachers would once again warn sinners of the vengeful wrath of God and the frightening judgment to come. 2nd Corinthians 5:11, “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.” If we as believers don't warn the unsaved of the judgment to come, then who will?

Here is an excellent quote from the mighty man of God, Dr. Lee Roberson (1909-2007), concerning eternal punishment . . .

“Somebody says, 'The thought of Hell is so horrible.' Well, my friend, so is cancer, so is tuberculosis, so is the grave. Someone said, 'I believe sin ought to be punished, but not for eternity.' That's your view, not God's.

Again another says, 'I don't believe in the wrath of God.' Then you don't believe your Bible. The Bible says the wrath of God abideth on the one who doesn't believe in Jesus Christ. He is lost forever.

Now, these things come to us out of the Word of God. The teaching of eternal punishment should give us a hatred for sin. We ought to hate sin. The reason we have changed so much in this day in all of our churches is that we are not hearing much on this subject. Therefore, we endorse sin. We engage in sin. We camouflage the sin in our lives and allow things to go by, instead of hating sin as God wants us to hate sin . . .

The teaching of eternal punishment should give us a passion for the souls of men.

Are You Ready to Meet God?

There was a very sad accident which happened in Colorado Springs this week. An 18-year old woman, Whitney Hendrickson, was slowly burned to death in a fiery accident, which involved an out-of-control vehicle. The poor girl was pinned between the gas pump and the burning minivan. As she saw the flames moving toward her, she cried out for help, saying “Help me! Help me! I'm going to die.” Sadly, there was no one to save her. Life is so short. She had no idea when she woke up that morning that it would be her last day on earth. My deepest sympathies goes out to that young woman's family.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — A convenience store gasoline pump caught fire and exploded Tuesday, killing a woman and injuring at least one other person, police said.

Witnesses told The Gazette newspaper the pump caught fire after hit was hit by a pickup that had in turn been struck by an SUV. Police said the incident was under investigation.

The woman was pumping gas when the fire erupted, and she was trapped between the pump and a minivan, witnesses said.

"She was standing there screaming 'Help me! Help me! I'm going to die,"' Greg Alderman told The Gazette.

Police Lt. Dave Whitlock identified the woman who was killed as 18-year-old Whitney Hendrickson of Colorado Springs.

The SUV driver, 29-year-old Kelli Renae McKay of Colorado Springs, was treated at Memorial Hospital for bruises. She was cited for suspicion of careless driving involving a death, a misdemeanor, Whitlock said.

A passenger in the minivan was unharmed as was the driver of the pickup.

Alderman, who works across the street from the 7-Eleven store where the explosion occurred, said he tried to get to the woman but the heat was too intense.

Michael Horvat, who also works across the street, said he ran to the store with a fire extinguisher but an off-duty firefighter yelled at him to back off. Just then the pump exploded.

"She was frozen in there, between the gas pumps and her car," Horvat said. "She was holding her face. Flames were all around her. She never got out."

I wrote this article because this accident is a clear reminder to all of us that life is predictably UNPREDICTABLE. We have a tendency to take so many things for granted in this life, including life itself.

Consider this poor woman who lost her life. Any hope of having a future husband or children or grandchildren, any hope of ever hearing those first words “Mama” or “I wuv you mommy,” any hope of watching her children graduate from school, or of receiving a big hug from one of her own children, is now gone forever. How sad. How tragic!

This is why I get so peeved at our government leaders for needlessly sending our children to die on foreign soil for agendas that have absolutely nothing to do with America's freedom. Alan Greenspan, who headed the Federal Reserve Board for 19 years, stated that the Iraqi War is mostly about stealing their oil. That's not a good enough reason to forfeit our children's lives. Many parents will never be grandparents, because their child died in Iraqi for the New World Order. And if that's not bad enough, President Bush Jokes about War In Iraq! It is all so evil. Just remember, Obama, Bush and the Clintons will all spend this coming Christmas with their children. If your pastor supports the War in Iraq, pray for him that God will open his eyes.

May we keep in mind the untimely death of this unfortunate young woman, and numerous others we read about every day in the news, so that we may redeem the time, preparing to meet our God and Creator. Life is what happens to us while we're making big plans. Life has its disappointments, heartaches and times of sorrow for everyone—some more than others—but God is still on His throne in Heaven and now is the time to get right with God. Do you know Jesus as your Savior?

The Reality of Sin, Judgment and Hell

After I read this tragic story, I couldn't help but think of the Scriptures and the BILLIONS of unbelievers that are headed for the Lake of Fire in their sins. Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” And again in 2nd Thessalonians 1:8 we are warned, “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” I don't know if this young woman was saved or unsaved, and I make no statement concerning that. I certainly hope with all my heart that she's enjoying Heaven now with the saints.

What caught my attention mostly was the fact that this young women saw death approaching. She saw the fires moving closer and closer. Fear overwhelmed her, as it would anyone. How tragic that multitudes of people in the world today refuse to see the fires closing in around them! They are blind to the reality of sin, judgment and Hell fire! Oh, that men would hear and believe the Word of God, repenting toward God for salvation.

Jesus taught in Matthew 24:37-38 that the people before the flood were eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage (partying). Jesus said that it would be the same way in the Last Days. We are living in those times. People today are not listening to God. This is why we have a city nicknamed “Sin City”; and abortion is legal, and Salem, Massachusetts prides themselves as the “City of Witches”; and pornography is legal; and homosexuals are getting married and adopting children; and America's legal system is extremely corrupt and oppressive; and idolatry is commonplace in America's churches. Woe unto America.

Jesus said that when the flood finally came, THEY KNEW NOT what had happened until it was too late. Not one person heeded Noah's preaching of the righteousness that is in Jesus Christ. Only Noah and his immediate family got on the ark. Noah preached for 120 long years, but not one person obeyed the Gospel, not one person got saved, not one person escaped God's wrath when judgment came. And after perishing in the flood, they went to Hell to burn (Psalm 9:17).

Tragically, preachers no longer cry aloud against sin, no longer warn men of the coming judgment of an angry God, and no longer stress the awfulness of eternal punishment for all Christ-rejecters in the fires of Hell. Every mainstream so-called “Christian author,” such as Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, Max Lucado, et cetera, spend 99% of the time AVOIDING the unpleasant and offensive topics of sin, judgment, God's wrath, hellfire and eternal punishment. Yet, the great need of our day is to hear these topics preached loud and long so that men may fear God and come to repentance.

All of the popular televangelists today are a bunch of greedy fakes! Beware of the minister who focuses on health, wealth and prosperity. Beware of any professed “Christian” who wants to sell you something; but never warns of the coming judgment in hellfire, never exposes the awfulness of sin, never talks about winning souls to Jesus Christ and never talks about God's wrath upon the wicked. America's great need of the hour is preaching preachers!

The tragic accident in Colorado Springs could have happened to anyone. It was horrific to say the least. Burned alive! Proverb 27:1, “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” The importance question is, are you ready to meet God? Hebrews 10:31, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Luke 13:5, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” —Jesus Christ

This is an answer you must settle with God. Is the Fire in Hell Real Fire? 1 "IS THE FIRE IN HELL A LITERAL FIRE?" Will those in hell suffer real torment of body in a literal fire?

There is no question but that the Bible repeatedly...from beginning to end...teaches that hell is a place of "fire."

As was stated before, many today feel that the idea of hell is some antiquated, moth-eaten, disproved theory of the dark ages...a superstition of the past which cannot be relied upon...and they simply accept these "theories" on hell without ever seeing for themselves what God has to say about hell and, therefore, also about these "theories." In our culture, men have lost the fear of hell and, with the loss of this fear, they have also lost the soul-winning passion that the Church had in ages past.

Because men, today, use the word "hell" as a byword ...a curse word...making a joke of what should be the most serious, sober, thought provoking subject of the whole universe...Calvary has not only come to mean less, but warnings of judgment have also become powerless to stir men's souls to repentance. If...and only when...the Church returns...without compromise ...or apology...to the preaching of the awfulness and the certainty of a Biblical hell...can it experience...and know ...a genuine soul-winning revival.

Some of the most solemn words in the entire Bible can be found in Revelation 14:10-11 ...speaking of those in hell, these verses say, "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb; And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night...".

It does not really matter what I might think is true...or untrue...about the reality of hell...or what I...or you...might wish is true...or untrue...about the reality of hell, but, rather, what does really matter is what God has to say about the reality of hell!

One may choose not to believe in hell and may choose to close his ears to the subject of hell, but, unfortunately, his unbelief in...and ignorance of...hell will not keep him from going there... or from spending eternity in this "lake of fire".

Would it not disturb you if someone's house was on fire and he just closed his eyes ...stuffed his ears...held his nose...and said, "What an awful thing to think about my house burning and, because I only like to think of `pleasant' things, I'm just going to take this whole matter of my house burning and just dismiss it from my mind and not even think about it?"

If I can but wake up one person...who says to himself, "I don't want to think about the fires of hell"...to the reality of those fires...by getting him to smell the smoke...hear the crackling of the flames...or see the light of the burning flames ...I will have not only accomplished an eternal favor for them, but, also, any effort on my part...in the writing of this paper ...will prove to be more than worth it.

SCRIPTURE PROVIDES US WITH:

1. ABUNDANT PROOF THAT HELL IS A LITERAL "PLACE" BECAUSE...IN THE BIBLE...WHEN REFERENCE IS MADE TO HELL, IT IS TO A Is the Fire in Hell Real Fire?
2 LITERAL PLACE. Luke 16:28 calls hell "a `place' of torment" Scripture pictures literal, physical bodies going to Hell...(John 5:28-29 and Revelation 20:13 are but two of these Scriptural examples.) Matthew 10:28 tells us to, "Fear Him (God) which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The fact that heaven is a "place" is established in Scripture...Jesus said, "I go to prepare a `place' for you"...and, the assumption here is that if heaven is a "place", hell must also...and likewise...be a "place".

2. ABUNDANT PROOF THAT THE FIRE OF HELL IS A LITERAL "FIRE" BECAUSE...IN THE BIBLE...WHEN JUDGMENT UPON SIN WAS BY "FIRE", IT WAS A "LITERAL" FIRE!

When God judged Sodom and Gomorrah, Genesis 19:24 tells us that, "The Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire"...and verse 28 says..."And, lo, the smoke went up as the smoke of a furnace."

Strangely enough, the above description of God's judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah sounds very much like the description of hell that is found in Revelation 14:11.

The point is that, whenever God used "fire" to judge those who were disobedient during the days of the Old Testament, it was real, literal fire!

Dr. Melvin Grove Kyle...who led an archeological expedition of the ruins of ancient Sodom...discovered that, not only were there evidences of brimstone (sulphur) amid the burned rocks around the Dead Sea, but, also, the area was "covered with lava and volcanic ash" which gave evidence to the fact that it was literal "fire" and "brimstone" which God sent in judgment upon Sodom and Gomorrah!

We read in 2 Peter 2:6, "(God) turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly!"...In other words...what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah is an example...or sample...of what the ungodly can expect to happen to them...which is, to be judged by a literal fire! Because...by putting strange fire in the incense censer within the Tabernacle...

Nadab and Abihu deliberately broke God's law, Leviticus 10:2 tells us, "And there went out a fire from the Lord, and devoured them."...which means that God judged them by a literal, real fire. In Joshua 7:15, God said, "...the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the Lord." The "accursed thing" turned out to be Achan...verse 25 says, he was "...burned with fire..."

The Gates of Hell are real. Hell is a literal place. Hell is a place of horrific torment. You don't want to end up in the fires of hell. You do not have to go to hell. You can receive the forgiveness of Jesus Christ today and be born again. Read Romans 10:9,10 today. Today is the day of salvation. TODAY!

More proof that Hell is a real place:

http://www.netbiblestudy.com/00_cartimages/isthefireinhellliteralfire.pdf

When Elijah was facing the captain of Moab and his fifty men, he said, "If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty." And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. (2 Kings 1:10.) (In the next verse...verse 11...the same thing happened all over again...with another captain and his fifty.)

Several passages in Revelation speak of the "fire" of God's judgment and the "smoke" that ascends from that fire and, despite the fact that Revelation does use symbolic language, the description of these judgments are given so literally that it certainly seems that God is endeavoring to warn man of a terrible judgment of a literal fire...especially since a "figurative" fire would not have "smoke ascending" from it! What stands out about the Old Testament sacrifices...which depict the wrath of God on man's sin... is the fact that:

(1) The blood shed by the sacrificial animal was real and literal, and,

(2) The fire which consumed the sacrifice was also real and literal. Again, this is but another example of how...whenever God's wrath on sin is depicted in the Old Testament...there is always a literal "fire" that is involved.

OTHER SCRIPTURAL PROOFS THAT THE FIRE IN HELL IS LITERAL FIRE ARE THE FOLLOWING:

Luke 16:24, The rich man said, "I am tormented in this flame."

Matthew 5:22, "Whosoever shall say `thou fool' shall be in danger of hell fire."

Matthew 13:41, "The Son of man shall send forth His angels and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity, and shalt cast them into a furnace of fire, there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."...(This is repeated again in verses 49-50.)

Matthew 25:41, "Then shall He say unto them on the left hand, depart from ye cursed into everlasting fire, prepared for the Devil and his angels."

Mark 9:43, "If thy hand offend thee, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched." ...(This is repeated four times again in verses 44-48.)

These Scriptural verses on hell quote the words which came from the sweet...tender ...gentle...soft-spoken...compassionate Jesus!

2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 tells us, "The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord."

Revelation 20:14-15 speaks twice of those who are not found in the book of life being "cast into the lake of fire"...and .......

Revelation 21:8, in speaking of the second death, describes it as, "the lake burning with fire and brimstone"!

Once again, Hell is a literal place! Hell is a literal place!

More evidence still...............

NUMBERS 16:31-35...WHICH SHOULD PROVE...BEYOND ALL DOUBT ...THAT HELL IS A LITERAL PLACE WITH LITERAL FIRE!

As we already learned in lesson two...in reference to Korah, Dathan, and Abiram... Numbers 16:32-33 states, "the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up"...and ... "they went down alive into hell"...The earth literally burst opened...belched forth fire...and, as volcanic eruption devoured them alive, they fell straight into hell!

No one doubts the validity of news reports that tell us about incidents of volcanic eruptions where, again and again, mountains are blown up and fire is shot from the bowels of the earth, thousands of feet into the air...where the earth quakes and red hot lava...in rivers several miles wide...pours down the mountainside.

For example, when Mt. St. Helen erupted, the earth belched forth...and vomited out...5 billion, 350 million cubic yards of basalt...(lava)...which all moved in 27 minutes! Since we do not doubt these reports that come to us in the newspaper and over the television, should we, then, doubt the Bible...which is the most scientific book in the world ...when it teaches us that "Hades" is in the center of our earth...that it is a place of fire... molten elements...smoke...and super-heated gases?...

For example, 2 Peter 3:7 tells us, "But the heavens and the earth which are now by the same word kept in store, reserved unto fire, against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."...

and Ephesians 4:9...when it speaks of Christ having descended into Hades...tells us that Hades...the "present" hell...is located in "the lower parts of the earth."

Man is finding out that the earth he knows is really just a thin crust whose inner core is a molten...super-heated...mass of boiling, steaming elements, whose staggering temperatures are estimated to be 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. In some places, because the earth crust is so thin, the fire, which lies just beneath the earth's surface, produces geysers and lakes of boiling liquid... volcanoes which blow off the tops of mountains, spouting fire thousands of feet into the air and causing 10,000 tons of melted rock to roll from these deep craters.

On page 757, The National Geographic Magazine of December 1942, has an article about the mines of South Africa which is entitled, "The Cities That Gold and Diamonds Built"

This article states: "Once at the bottom of the shaft, we enter tunnels and passageways, cross along an incline, and drop down farther until, eventually, we are standing at the deepest spot of the earth that men have explored.

Here, dusty, sweating miners, white and black, are drilling and breaking up the dirty gray ore...and it's hot, despite the fact that big air-conditioning machines, both above and below ground, are pouring, what amounts to, thousands of tons of ice onto the workers every day.

Rock temperature here at 8,500 feet is 105 Fahrenheit."

This "spot" is only one and one-half miles down into the earth and, yet, the heat is so intense that ...without powerful air-cooling machinery...man is unable to exist.

With the diameter of the earth being 8,000 miles, the question is: Is the Fire in Hell Real Fire?

HOW HOT IS IT AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH? - Does one need more proof that the fire in hell is a "literal" fire?

In Matthew 13:36-42, when the disciples ask Jesus to interpret the parable of the wheat and the tares, He tells them Who the "Son of man" is and what the good seed...the field...the tares ...the Wicked one...the harvest...the reapers...all are symbolic of. Jesus does not leave them in any doubt as to what any of these things mean and, yet, He does not tell them what the "fire" stands for...and the reason that He did not tell them was, not because He forgot to tell them, but, rather, simply because He wanted to convey...and imply...that the fire was, indeed, a real...literal...fire!

Hell, where is it? What is it? | US Message Board - Political Discussion Forum

In the story of the rich man and Lazarus in hell, Jesus says...in Luke 16:23, "In hell he (the rich man) lifted up his eyes...being in `torments'"...

and, in verse 24, He goes on to say that the rich man cried out, "I am tormented in this flame!"

If anyone thinks that "disembodied spirits" will feel no pain, and that the flames of hell cannot reach them, he ought to hear...and ponder...this rich man's cry, "I am tormented in this flame!"

The words of this man, who felt the flames of hell, far outweigh the words of 2000 million who have never seen...or been in... hell...

because...Jesus tells us that we need to take the word of one who has been there...and, of course, not only has this rich man been there, but, also, he is still there since once one enters into hell he never, ever leaves!

No one likes to think of...and ponder...that place the Bible calls hell...a "lake of fire" ...an ocean of fire...throwing... beating...burning its waves of liquid flames on brimstone beaches, as God's awful, merciless, wrath is poured out on those who have rejected His love and plan of Salvation. Hell is a lonely ...barren...desolate world...a place with no light and no hope because God has locked...for all eternity – this penitentiary of the damned...as 2 Thessalonians 1:8 says..."in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God..."

"Hell, the prison house of despair Here are some things that won't be there No flowers will bloom on the banks of hell No beauties of nature we love so well No comforts of home, music and song No friendship of joy will be found in that throng No children to brighten the long weary night No loving smile in that region of night No mercy, no pity, pardon, nor grace No water, O, God what a terrible place The pangs of the lost no human can tell Not one moment's ease...there's no rest in hell.

Hell, the prison house of despair, Here are some things that will be there Fire and brimstone are there we know, For God, in His Word, hath told us so Memory, remorse, suffering and pain Blasphemers, swearers, haters of God Christ-rejecters, while on earth trod Murderers, gamblers, drunkards and liars, Will have their part in the lake of fires The filthy, the vile, the cruel, and mean What a horrible mob in hell will be seen Yes, more than humans on earth can tell Are the torments and woes of eternal hell!"

It is one thing for one to ponder the horrors of the coming judgments of God upon the wicked, however, it is quite another thing for him to contemplate what his eternal fate will be!

Hell is a literal place - hell has no exits. Hell is for all eternity. If you died tonight would you go to heaven or hell? Do you know? Do you know that you can settle the matter right now and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Yes. Right now you can settle the matter - repent of your sins and tell the LORD you want to invite him into your heart to become your Lord and Savior. If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, shed his blood for your sins, and God raised Him from the dead on the 3rd day you shall be saved. What are you waiting for? Receive Jesus Christ into your heart right now and live for Him from this day forward. Do not wait. Settle the matter right now - God will write your name in His Lamb's book of life and when you die you shall be with Him for all eternity - you will be in heaven, Beloved! Call upon the name of the LORD and you shall be saved. Do not wait. Today is the day of Salvation. TODAY.

We have better than a video, Joe. We have testimony after testimony of people whom the LORD has shown hell to - including those who died and were revived - coming back to tell us what they saw in hell! There is no question hell is a literal place.

Jesus Christ taught that hell was a literal place, RodISHI. The Bible disagrees with what you believe. Hell is not a frame of mind. Hell is a literal place.

First person to prove that will rule the world.

Hell is but one of many possibilities on our collective list of 'what if's' when pondering the unanswerable questions of what lay beyond Death's door.

First generation to understand everyone's right to be wrong regarding the unanswerable questions gets to watch their grandchildren reach for the stars.

True Story!

Hell in the Scriptures

The Bible contains an overwhelming amount of evidence showing that Hell is a literal place that burns with fire. Those people today who scoff and deny the existence of a literal Hell that burns with fire are calling God a liar. Either you believe the Bible is God's Word or you don't. There is NO middle ground.

"Beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit" (Jude 1:17-19).

While I appreciate the breadth and depths of Hell's description in the ancient stories, I believe The Bible to be nothing more than well preserved ancient Arab literature of varying quality from a variety of authors, and the Hell described within its pages to be fictitious.

I don't drink, Joe. But I will tell you that I believe that every man has been given a measure of faith by God and that faith cometh by hearing the Word of God so keep reading and listening......... :eusa_angel:

Seems like a lot of people have their own description of what hell is.
What and where do you think hell is?
If you were there do you think that you could recognize it?

"It is called tartarus in Greek (2Peter 2:4 translations "cast own to hell [tartarus]" or "cast them into hell"). Geenna in Old English "the Gehenna of fire" (place of torment). Hebrew it is Gehinnom "the valley of Himmon". Gehenna was also used to describe the mound area where the trash was thrown out to be burned on the outskirts of Old Jerusalem.
Sometimes also reference as Hades or the abode of the dead which is the Hebrew equivalent to Sheol "the grave" or "unseen" spiritually speaking this is the 'place of the dead' or being separated from God (without spiritual light). That place which is out of sight, the underworld, the lowest regions of earth (Adam- red earth). The grave is also descriptive of the human living in Hades when the spirit of life is absent from the carnal flesh. In the Book of Enoch this is described as a dry hot rocky place is where the spirit of Azazel is buried for seducing mankind.
The event of the spirit resurrecting the spiritually dead, "And the sea [see- thalassa- personification] gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them"
In the legends of Aesop, Thalassa appears as a woman formed of sea water rising up from her native element producing a tribe of fish. In many ancient cultures fish, agrah, and moon were using these terms to describe prosperity or wealth."

Strabo got it right.

"The multitude are restrained from vice by the punishments the gods are said to inflict upon offenders, and by those terrors and threatenings which certain dreadful words and monstrous forms imprint upon their minds...For it is impossible to govern the crowd of women, and all the common rabble, by philosophical reasoning, and lead them to piety, holiness and virtue - but this must be done by superstition, or the fear of the gods, by means of fables and wonders; for the thunder, the aegis, the trident, the torches (of the Furies), the dragons, &c., are all fables, as is also all the ancient theology. These things the legislators used as scarecrows to terrify the childish multitude."

“They Have No Rest Day Nor Night”

Let me tell you, as your friend, that you WILL burn in Hellfire for eternity if you DIE IN YOUR SINS. Jesus exclaimed in John 8:24, "...ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, i.e., the Godhead incarnate? Do you believe that the Godhead became flesh, and walked among us in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ?

Colossians 2:9 states concerning Jesus, "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and willingly went to the cross to be crucified for our sins (Isaiah 7:14; 2nd Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 12:2). Jesus died , was buried, and rose again 3-days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). He ascended into Heaven, where He applied His LITERAL blood to the
heavenly Mercy Seat (Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 9:12).

It is Jesus' literal blood on the Mercy Seat in Heaven that washes all our sins away (1st Peter 1:18,19), by our faith in the redeeming work of Christ (Galatians 3:26). Colossians 1:14 wonderfully states... "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." Amen!

Please don't listen to the liars who don't know their Bible. Read God's Word for yourself--HELL HAS FIRE!

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." —John 5:39

"In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power." —2nd Thessalonians 1:8,9

Let us tell Jeri as her friend that she needs to go back and review some verses of her own accord.
The spiritual realm is a realm of the dimension you are currently living in. Which is why Elisha prayed for Gehazi and asked the LORD to open His eyes that he would see that there were more of "us" (angels of the LORD were greater in number) than them (the Syrian army that surrounded the dwelling place they were in) he could see that realm. If God were to open your eyes in your home to see the spiritual realm, you would not see hell. The LORD would have to take you there in the spirit but you would nonetheless be witnessing the physical realm /reality of hell - even as Mary K. Baxter did when she was taken there to see with her own eyes the reality of hell. Again - hell is a literal place. Not a "frame of mind".

Those who are in hell - are experiencing that suffering with all five of their senses. ALL FIVE. They are given indestructible bodies that continue to be destroyed and return over and over and over again. Hell is a literal place.

If you are a born again Christian you should believe the Holy Bible and what it says, RodISHI. You cannot pick and choose what you like and disregard the rest. You must believe on and receive the Whole Word of God. Not part of it.
You cannot change the writings either with your own or someone elses (carnal) precepts.

Jesus speaking directly to the pharissees who did not believe then nor do the ones living today believe what was being shared with them:

Luke 17:21 "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

It is in the mind regardless of how you try to frame it. I know of nowhere that it is written that demons (spiritual beings) are "given indestructible bodies". Five carnal senses, five stone kings. Jesus stepped out of heaven and came down, no? Different levels of heaven, are there not? Just because you do not care for the way another describes what they have been shown where the spirit resides you want to take issue? You may want to go back and revisit some of your own words of warning.

If you do not believe in a literal hell you accusing God of being a liar, RodiSHI. You need to repent and believe the Word of God. Not New Age Deceivers who are attempting to infiltrate the church and pervert the Scriptures.

Making One's Bed in Hell

"...if I make my bed in hell..." —Psalm 139:8

lake_of_fire3.jpg
No one has to go to Hell. The only people who go to Hell are those who make their bed there, just as Psalm 139:8 teaches. We read in Matthew 25:41, “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” God never intended for one human being to enter into Hell. It is mankind who makes his bed in Hell, choosing to burn in the flames of God's vengeance forever (2nd Thessalonians 1:8,9).

Don't make the mistake of believing that skeptics and naysayers would convert if only they had more evidence or proof...

Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead”(Luke 16:27-31).

If a person will not listen to the Word of God (i.e., Moses and the prophets), then nothing is going to convince them of the truth. Romans 1:20 tells us that nature itself PROVES, beyond any reasonable doubt, that there is a God... “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”

Oh, listen my friend, you will have no valid excuse on Judgment Day when you stand trial before God (Hebrews 9:27; Romans 14:12). If you die in your sins, you will go to Hell (John 8:24). You need to have your sins blotted out; but you cannot do anything of your own merit or self-righteousness to remedy the problem (Isaiah 64:6). No matter how much good you accomplish in your earthly life, you'll still have sins on your record against you. The answer is Jesus Christ, Who paid for your sins in full with His own precious blood... “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1st Peter 1:18,19).

We need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS to have our sins forgiven... “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). 2nd Corinthians 5:21 states, “For he [God the Father] hath made him [God the Son] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” This is why we read in Romans 4:5, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” Amen! Any sinner can be saved and go to Heaven because Jesus took our sins upon Himself; and when we place our faith in Him as our Savior, He places His righteousness upon our record. This is called IMPUTATION. We go to Heaven not because of our own self-righteousness; but rather, because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 5:14, “Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.” Hell is getting bigger and bigger every day, being occupied by tens-of-millions of people every day who die in their sins without Jesus Christ as their Savior. Please don't make your bed in Hellfire. If you do go to Hell, it will only be because you turned down the gift of eternal life (Romans 6:23), which God offers exclusively through His Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Acts 10:43).

Jeri, you seem to try too hard many times to twist or add to another’s words. Readily you cannot see your own hypocrisy as you speak about things which you do not understand nor do you have knowledge of. I told you hell is a real place. It is a place in the spirit. The spirit dwells in and with humankind (I can only gather from what you post that you do not yet personally see that the kingdom has already come with power). It is in the mind. You among many others teach only what you perceive as the carnal location as that is all you are being allowed to see. By what you have written throughout this forum it appears that you have yet to crucify your own carnal thoughts and pleasures.
Hell is spiritually a place of separation from God when a person turns their back on God. The kingdom is within is put there in human on the day a human receives breath (a living soul). All these people talking about saving another’s soul and not even knowing or admitting that that person was born into this world with a soul, or that it was there on the day God put them in their mother’s womb. The carnal flesh is a grave that the Son (Word from the beginning with God) opens. In hotheadedness, pride and vanity shows others which ones are burning in it. It appears as though by your own postings you are not aware of its existence even though that is where you dwell.
“There are those of you standing here this day that will not taste of death until I come again”, have you tasted that death the Lord speaks of yet Jeri? You even had the gall in this forum to claim that someone who believes in reincarnation could by no means be a real Christian. You better go read some more Jeri for that is not how the Lord explained it when He was saying, ‘You will be as the angels’, angels come and go Jeri. Just go read what Job saw as they ascended and descended. Or you can even read what is said to the church of Philadelphia about how those who overcome will go out no more (I can assure you that overcoming is not an easy task). You say you believe but it is only what you say you want to believe. Again, walk in spirit and truth. You talk about people who have seen hell in the spirit yet claim it is underground when they actually saw it in the spirit not the flesh. Do you not understand when the Word says that the hosts of heaven and earth were finished on the Sixth day? Or do you just simply ignore that part of it? Never mind you cannot just answer a simple question as you did not answer the ones I posed earlier.
You make a lot of assumptions and accusations speaking with your fingers typing about the kingdom which Jesus Christ “anointed with Jehovah’s salvation with us” teaches and gave His blood for which you are still blinded to. You nor anyone else in this world gets to decide what is in another’s heart or mind, whether they will be or are dwelling in hell or be risen to heaven not matter what religion they have been raised in. As it is written “But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, "DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, 'WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?' (that is, to bring Christ down), or 'WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)."You are not given that power as it is not in your hand to take away or give to another ‘eternal life’. You are though responsible for your own words, actions and choices. Your own ignorance is no excuse for you as you have been forewarned.
As it is written in Isaiah “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer ‘light bearer’, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”

God lifts up and God takes low whom He will; not whom you decide He will or will not. That is HE the firstborn created Male and Female. That One made in God’s image prior to the carnal human being that the Lord caused a deep sleep to be on that is living in its own pleasures (Eden). You speak of the mother of All living and you know not even how she is created in each and every human (Adam) from their own riyb (cases at law, strife, contention). God created good and evil and they both serve Him.
At this time you are acting as though you can personally remove the planks out of another’s eyes but you cannot see the ones in your own eyes through your own pride and vanity.

Does Gandhi belong in the same Hell as Hitler?

I do agree with you on this Jeri; “Please don't listen to the liars who don't know their Bible. Read God's Word for yourself--HELL HAS FIRE!”. Even spiritual fire unseen by the carnal eye. One can watch the posters on here though as they mentally burn in their own carnal belief systems and try to send others to watch video’s of people telling how and what they are going to do when they “get to heaven” or “go to heaven” and who will and will not burn in hell.

we make our own here on earth

Some people do.

All those who believe in things that never literally happened and maintain perverse interpretations of what is actually taking place while awaiting things that will never occur exist in a desolate place of unspeakable suffering without light or life.

Only to them reality is hell and a torment day and night like a consuming fire that will never go out.

The dead do not even know that they are in hell. They may even think that they are saved and bound for heaven and everyone else is going to hell, whenever Jesus floats down from the sky that is........

Acts 2:38 King James Version (KJV)
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

King James Version (KJV)

Well, I see the bible thumpers are out in force on this thread. But for me the bible is largely Jewish myths.
In my studies of spiritualist teachings there are many planes of experience after we die and we go to a place that corresponds with our spiritual state of evolution. For some they will think they are in heaven because their surroundings will be beautiful, but for others they will think they are in hell because their lower realm of experience will be dark and cold. I do not believe in hellfire, I was told the lower realms are dark .But all such realms are just another illusion like the physical realm we are now in. The beings that find themselves in lower realms will have every opportunity to progress and they can eventually reincarnate to face karma and work out their evolution. Ultimately we are evolving to a state of spiritual perfection where our surroundings will not phase us, as we will carry a sense of union with the divine within us.
