Dead is dead , you are correct. But if a person happens to be lets say black. or white whichever you prefer it doesn't matter to the discussion; and he kills a person. Did he kill because he was black , or white, or did he just happen to be a black , or white, who killed? Of course each case has to be looked at independently.

And before you even ask, yes absolutely I agree that not every Muslim who kills has done so in the name of Islam.
