As for suicide and murder, a weapon that goes bang, if taken away, those who wish to kill themselves will find other means, more cruel and painful. Why take away someone's right to defend themselves(especially women) against the thug who wishes to do more than kill her?

You are correct that guns are tools, but if in your mind they're limited to suicide and murder I vehemently disagree. Guns are tools of self defense.
