Holy crap, is the LEFT now beginning to wake up?

Mac1958

Okay, so here is the elevator pitch:

Somehow show these people that their cultural and social issues are directly impacted by economics and policy issues.

Example: Explain to the pussy hat marchers that the reason women are less oppressed than they were 60 years ago is not because of public shaming or who screamed the loudest.

It is because of policy and legislation that allowed them to get divorced, to prosecute their spouses for assault, to have their own bank accounts and credit cards, etc.

Explain to them that this empowerment does not come through memes or Twitter storms.

Explain to them the immediate and powerful effect on empowering women that free child care, mandatory paid maternal leave, and higher minimum wage would have.

Then, Explain it again. And again and again.
I don't know what any of that has to do with the topic.

We KNOW all of these things and we have known them for years. We've been repeating them endlessly for years and years, but men continue to tell American women that the things that women all over the first world take for granted - like abortion rights, access to child care, child tax benefits, and universal health care, are ALL out of the financial reach of American corporations.

You don't need to tell WOMEN any of these things. You need to tell Wall Street, the American Chamber of Commerce, and Forbes Magazine these essential facts.

WOMEN'S ISSUES are the kitchen table economic issues that American's dismiss as simply the "emotional" things women want but the nation cannot afford. Oh yeah, and they're all "socialist" programs meant to destroy the market economy.

I think that's a reasonable take. Overcompensating is a Great American pastime, and what I see is two ends of an issue going out of their way to feed into the worst impulses of the other. Both ends give the other end every fucking opportunity to say SEE? THEY DID IT AGAIN. WHAT DID WE TELL YOU?

That's what happens as our tribalism continues to get worse.
I see you have no clue! Demofks hate Americans hate blacks, even projecting their racist being at others. Blacks being told they have no clue about being black by white demofks! Amazing. Calling blacks who don’t toe their line Uncle Tom. But you bring conservatives into that. Amazing bullshit by you. It’s who you are

I don't know what any of that has to do with the topic.
It has everything to do with the topic.

It redirects their energy toward policy and legislation. Instead of a pussy hat march for "be nicer to us, jerks" , you get a pussy hat march for, for example, free child care

You get political power and momentum for the policies and legislation.you redirect the energy put into public shaming of a tweet toward policy and legislation that isn't simply, "Be nicer!"

Hopefully.

You don't need to tell WOMEN any of these things.
Then where is the million woman march for free child care?

I am not calling women ignorant. I know they know these things.

I am talking about what they do with this knowledge. Where they focus limited time and resources.

How to get actual change in policy and legislation, instead of merely lip service.

Can a woman compete against sports men equally? Yes or no!

Here

First, I'm not getting my hopes up, even though I've been screaming about the Left's cynical weaponization of PC and Identity Politics since I've been on this board (and long before). However:

Interestingly, both the CNN and MSNBC morning shows spent time on how or if the American Left has gone too far with its cultural issues. This, after James Carville, Bill Maher, and even recently Hillary Clinton and Van Jones have been beating the drum on this. Even Al freakin' Sharpton said the Dems are moving from "progressive" to "regressive" (a word I've used about a thousand times here).

We're seeing Hispanics give up and move towards the GOP now. November looks like an ass kicking. Are the Democrats beginning to figure it out, are they starting to realize that they've been concentrating on the wrong issues for too long, losing the working class vote over "defund the police", reparations, destroying businesses that don't want to bake a cake, and trans parades in grade schools?

Are they waking up? AND, is it too late, are they too dependent on it and attached to it to fix this?

It doesn't matter if the progress or regress, it will be the economy in 2022 and probably 2024 if it continues the way it is going. What is really bad is that Trump will get back in because only hard core leftist will vote for your guy Biden. What is sad is this nation is going to be in bad shape and no hope if your guy Biden or Trump wins.

I could care less if the Left begins to wake up a little. They are headed for epic defeat for the sedition they've caused. Obviously you care as you are a leftist.

Interestingly, both the CNN and MSNBC morning shows spent time on how or if the American Left has gone too far with its cultural issues.
Interesting that you spent the morning watching two far left channels instead of Fox News, or better still, RAV News or OANN. I guess if you turned Fox on, your hair might catch on fire?

This, after James Carville, Bill Maher, and even recently Hillary Clinton and Van Jones have been beating the drum on this.
The ONLY reason any of these vile people are beating any drums now is because they see they are heading down the Great Poop-Chute in the sky in 20 weeks to ruin and utter irrelevancy, meanwhile, Joe Biden hasn't done a SINGLE THING he promised when running. If the democrats were looking to historic wins or even normal wins this Fall, there would be absolutely no concern about their direction! All that matters to them are the votes and the power.

We're seeing Hispanics give up and move towards the GOP now. November looks like an ass kicking. Who cares? Democrats are wrong, they've always BEEN wrong, had they been able, they would have only done far more wrong, and they will be getting an historic ass-kicking not only for the Biddum Failures but for illegally and fraudulently putting him in the WH.

To go further...

Do you have a bank account? A credit card? Can you use contraception?

How do you think these rights came about? 75 years ago, you would not have been able to have any of that.

Know any women that are 90+ years old? Ask them.

Do you think these laws passed because people were writing mean editorials in the papers? Angry letters to the editors?

Do you think it was because the old men who ran the country were tired of being insulted, and passed these things to shut them up?

Or was it because women and their advocates (count me among them) organized politically behind the very focused goal of obtaining these rights?

Seems obvious to me.

When you said "these people" I didn't know what you meant.

There is a legislative element to this, but the cultural element is stronger. It's much more basic and simple. There is a large portion of the populace that has grown tired of the cultural pressures put on them by the Left. And it's only accelerating, from their children's grade school through sports.

Most of the Left dismisses this, and has been for years. That's fine, but at some point they'll need to look in the mirror. This is hitting the fan for them right now. It turns out that cultural issues matter just as much as economic issues for many. THEY are kitchen table issues, TOO.

Yes, thus the elevator pitch. I didn't suggest, "do nothing, everything is fine." I agree with you about the state of affairs at this moment. Thus the suggestion for what to do about it.

Yes, and we have seen it before. See pictures of crowds of people in the 60s burning books and holding signs about the long hair hippy faggots and "God hates interracial marriage".

We don't have to wander around in ignorance, reacting like amoeba, as if there isn't plenty of history to learn from.

How did we plow out of what was arguably a MUCH more divided cultural environment in the 60s?

Did we bring our decibel meters and decide who screamed the loudest? Did we go by the prettiest signs or the most impactful "zingers"?

No, smart people came along and redirected the energy of the left to policy and legislation.

And in doing so, the American Left brought sweeping change in this country and gave the entire modern world a huge gift.

Okay, no problem, then.

They don't call it "Clinton News Network" for nothing.
Just this past weekend Hillary Clinton gave a speech on this very thing saying "this is not a hill to die for" - speaking how the Democrats are losing the majority by clinging to the progressive left agendas.

And what do you know... the rest of the left media follows right behind her.
