You see here one of the lies that is perpetuated by the gun lobby, that people react solely to how a gun looks. All legislation is meant to keep horribly destructive weapons out of the hands of people that shouldn't have them. The ploy is to muddy the waters by intermingling a .22 rifle with assault weapons like the AR-15 and AK-47 and claim they are the same. They aren't by a mile.
