House Democrats plan to push for $15 federal minimum wage

A. Maybe $15/hr is too high

B. Maybe it's not in certain regions

C. Why not have a regional minimum wage tied to COLA and inflation?

These are all worthwhile discussions worthy of reasonable debate.

I have seen none of that thread
Good point.

Why not have the states decide?

Better yet. Why not use the most reliable method? Let the market decide.

.

Wait...so you mean that increasing minimum wage puts upward pressure on all wages?

Lord...we can't have the middle class making better wages...can we...

Who in the middle class is earning minimum wage?

How does increasing the minimum wage NOT increase all other wages?
An institutional upward pressure on wages is the Objective.
The problem is that your method will do exactly the opposite because at $15 an hour, too many people will be unemployed.

The wage is not the problem. It's the job market. Too many people are fighting for the same jobs.

If you work full-time, you should be able to support your family. its called the American dream!
Higher paid labor pays more in payroll taxes, more in income taxes and create more in demand.
Payroll taxes are the worst economy-killing abomination ever conceived. No employer should be taxed for giving another person a fucking job.

If that cuts into the budget, well....TOUGH SHIT!!! Cut all (and I mean ALL) spending in half. Problem solved.
Unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed supplies better Governance at lower cost. We could be ending the Need for payroll taxes by solving for simple poverty in a more market friendly manner.

Who would Want to apply for means tested welfare if they could simply apply for unemployment compensation instead?

We keep hearing that but in the past where minimum wages have increased...it didn't happen.

Besides...I thought you guys were telling us that there weren't enough workers to fill all the jobs.

You REALLY have to work on your story

stop appealing to ignorance, like usual; Employment is at the will of either party.

We could have solved simple poverty Yesterday, the Right Wing objects merely Because, the Poor may benefit.

Who was telling you we don't have enough workers? Not me. We have too many workers, many are illegally imported.

Let me explain to you the concept of supply and demand.

When there are millions of unskilled workers, and for every unskilled-labor job there are 5 unskilled laborers trying to get that 1 job, the employer can pretty much pay them dirt. You can get your $15 per hour minimum, but 4 of those 5 will still be jobless.

On the flip side, if you have 5 employers trying to hire 1 worker, $15 per hour is way too low.

Instead of forcing an artificial bottom, why not work on the other end, so everybody gets paid more?

By the way, forcing a huge wage hike will result in no change because supply and demand will drive up prices on everything, so the purchasing power will be killed within 1 year.

:dunno:

You still to lazy to look it up?

It went from 7.6 to 9.7 the last time the minimum wage was Rasied in 2009

stop appealing to ignorance
You still have no fucking idea what that means, do you?

:laughing0301:
yes, i do.
You keep misusing like you have no fucking clue. I'm going with you don't know what the fuck you are saying until you prove otherwise.
a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage is a cost of living adjustment and unemployment compensation for capitalism's natural rate of inefficiency regarding employment, solves for simple poverty in our market based economy.

It is merely Government fixing some Standards as GoalPosts for Capitalism to work and play within.

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

In July..."economists" were saying that 4.1% was full employment. Now they are saying it's something lower.

They will continue to lower that number as far as possible because the minute they admit that we are "there"...workers will demand higher wages and business does NOT want that to happen.

Which is a big part of why they are against raising the minimum wage.

We have been told that wages are rising. Um....oh really?

They "rose" by some infinitesimal fraction....and aren't likely to see anything more than that unless and until inflation kicks in and kills any increase we actually get

So, dumbasses who are only smart enough to make $15 per hour will miraculously be aware that unemployment is at zero and go demand higher pay?
:laughing0301:

That's not how it works.

When workers receive 3 or 4 job offers and the prospective employers get into a bidding war is when they can and will demand higher wages.

.

that is all, tax cut economics was good for. the Best, it could do This time with This administration.

There is no provision for excuses in the federal doctrine.

2009?

Are you SERIOUSLY blaming a minimum wage increase for that unemployment increase?

In the middle of the Great Recession?

Go sit in the corner
