How did Oil, er plants, get so very very deep?

That's interesting since it's almost dead certain that nothing ever grew there.
Simple hydrocarbons like methane and ethane are abundant. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, and carbon is 3rd.

The issue here is getting complex and long chain hydrocarbons that persist over time.
 
Because you are more likely to find the oil fields than when drilling straight down. Think about it.
Obviously then horizontal doesn't actually mean horizontal. There has to be some angle to the action...
Would it be more appropriate to say diagonal? Wasn't that what pissed off Saddam Hussein? The kuwaiti's were doing that I believe.

Yeah I guess that makes some sense....
