How Did YOU Suffer Under Obama?

This morning, I read an interesting article about the Obama years describing how he did a great job. I don't agree with everything on that list, and I won't post it here because that's not the point.

But in the past, here and elsewhere, I've seen people say the opposite. These comments usually say something like, "I'm glad that reign of terror is over" or "I got tired of suffering under Obama."

Which leads to the question: How did you suffer under the Obama presidency? What did Obama do (or not do) that directly impacted you negatively? This isn't about vague things like "he embarrassed the office" or "he's a socialist Muslim, that's why." Instead, can you explain anything specific that hurt you or your family/friends in some way?

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I'm mostly liberal. I will be respectful to those who disagree with me if they are respectful. I won't if you won't.

I saved the best for last. When I enter a new forum, I usually read the OP and then read the posts backwards so I don't reiterate a point already made. So how did DumBama effect me personally? Where do I start?

Like millions of others, I lost my healthcare insurance for the first time in my life, and I'm 57 years old now. My employer cited Commie Care as the reason. He found an opportunity to get rid of a problem he didn't want to deal with, and even if he continued to provide that benefit, his insurance company gave him a heads up on how much higher premiums would be in the coming years thanks to Commie Care.

I couldn't afford Commie Care coverage because I made too much. Commie Care was designed to take care of likely Democrat voters at the expense of likely Republican voters. So I was screwed and still am.

Looking for a company that still had healthcare coverage, I found that others in my field of work did exactly as my employer did.

Next is DumBama's attacks on our financial institutions. Like many Americans, I carry debt. That was not a problem before DumBama. Because of my outstanding credit history, I always got 0% interest on my credit cards for at least a year. When the year was up, I simply transferred the balance to another 0% interest card for a year.

After DumBama attacked the credit card institutions, they had to recoup their losses somewhere, and that somewhere was their good responsible customers (likely Republican voters). Now when I transfer a balance, I have to pay a transfer fee which is a couple hundred dollars or so.

My job: Under DumBama, his minions in the bureaucracies created egregious regulations on us truck drivers. One of the first things they did was prohibit us from using phones in the truck, and that included two-way communications like Nextel used to have; speaking of which, Nextel went out of business after they created that regulation. The fine for even holding a cell phone in your hand is $3,000.00 and that's just for the first offense. Additional offenses have increased penalties.

As a landlord, I spend some time on my phone trying to work and conduct my personal business at the same time. I still do in spite of the laws, but now, I risk losing $3,000 just for doing the same thing I did before DumBama became President.

Then they changed the physical requirements. As a person with preexisting conditions, I need my doctor to sign a medical waiver so I can continue working. The government outlawed that under DumBama. Now you can only get a physical and medical exemption from a government approved doctor who doesn't treat or follow your condition. They don't want to sign anything that can make them liable in case I get into an accident or something. So now I struggle trying to find somebody to do this for me, and the government is damn near ending my career thanks to regulations created under DumBama.

Is that enough for you???

To be honest think things have been getting worse for working people, no matter who has been in power, for at least the last 40 years. the rich have gotten richer, (more loop holes & give a ways. the poor have gotten more give a ways. some one name me some things given to the working class by either party, there must be some?

I don't believe it's governments job to give anybody anything. The best thing government can do is stay out of my life and allow me to do things for myself. Stay out of my personal life, stay out of my professional life, stay out of all of my life. The less government in my life, the better.

I didn't suffer under the Obama Presidency nor did I prosper either I think that was the case with a lot of people and it really sort of defines his Presidency it wasn't a disaster but it wasn't remarkable either.

ACA sucks pretty bad. Not only are my premiums up, my plan is basically don't get sick, I couldn't afford the deductible. Terrible compared to my old one. I stabbed myself in the hand, deeeep, like I pulled out fat with it, and almost passed out from it. Not at all a squeamish person either, I'm an RN, see this all the time. Sowed it up myself, healed up nicely. But I took a sew kit from work, didn't want to risk taking lidocaine (they monitor any meds like hawks). So it was a pretty painful process.

And it's not just me that paying higher and crossing their fingers they don't get sick, it's my girlfriend too, all of my families employees, and I'm sure countless others out there.

I couldn't buy any Mini-Mags for 2 years. I see people everywhere working harder and making less than ever.

Too much HOA McMansion subdivisions and loss of home ownership.

Portion reduction at the grocery store. Smug Communists annoying me.

I've been self-employed as a product design consultant for nearly 25 years. MOST of that time, my family and I took insurance from my Professional Group. A very respectable and LARGE technical society. O-CARE OUTLAWED all of those Professional Group plans. Except for politically connected orgs -- like Unions and the AARP that got EXEMPTIONS to continue. Meaning that self-employed accountants, engineers, doctors and veterinarians were THROWN into the pool.

If you like your plan -- You can KEEP YOUR PLAN?? Fucking Liar President.

I skirted that by just chucking the "subsidy" and went thru a Professional Broker in my town. With over 40 YEARS of experience in the field -- he got us an O-care qualified plan WITHOUT going thru the exchanges or filling out the mind-numbing, extremely PROBING HUGE O-Care applications. We got it with a handshake and a signature. MOST were not as lucky.. 1st year premium was 15% less than what we were paying but with HUGER deductibles. A move that less well-off can not afford to do. But the AVERAGE policy written under O-Care for the working poor has FATAL bankruptcy generating deductibles attached to it that would end their financial lives if they ever NEEDED substantial care..

By year two, the premium was 20% ABOVE what I had been paying and I changed plans. By year three, it was 50% ABOVE what I had been paying and there was only ONE PROVIDER LEFT.. THIS YEAR, there were 2 providers left. Only ONE serious one left and my BROKER with all that experience COULD NO LONGER HELP US.. Because neither of the 2 companies left were ALLOWING brokers to write policies for individuals and self employed. So we were at the mercy of the exchanges. BCBS had left every major town and city in Tennessee..

I TRIED to apply. Became LIVIDLY MAD at the probing financial/personal info the govt was asking for. Worse than filling the College FAFSA application by far. The NAVIGATORS are MORONS !!! They were probably selling hot dogs out of carts the year before. They were WRONG most of the time, would not commit to answering questions. Did NOT understand the BASIC TERMINOLOGY of insurance or how it works.

So I refused. Wife had to take over. SHE got furious and frustrated. We decided to cut our work load, stop serving so many clients and apply for a subsidy.. That's HOW EASY it is -- to survive a govt takeover of insurance. It's BUSTED. Totally ill-concieved. Doesn't HELP any of the working poor by subsidizing the PREMIUMS instead of the Giant Deductibles..

Every encounter with a Navigator was an ordeal. They got EVERYTHING WRONG. Wrote 3 new policies when we dropped our daughter off last year. Took us 3 months to straighten that out. NOT AN ADEQUATE SUBSTITUTE for my broker with 30 years of experience.

It's Crap. It's CORRUPT, and it's BROKEN. LARGELY -- because the Dems attempted to hide and "socialize" the costs of their "Medicare expansions" in the pools. THAT was the major INFLATIONARY trigger. Because the folks that got DUMPED into pools were now the ones PAYING for the fucking "Medicaid Expansion".. It was as DEVIOUS and CYNICAL as Jonathan Gruber told us all it would be.

What kind of plan was it exactly and how did the ACA outlaw it? Im not challenging your assertion i'm just questioning so I can understand what you are talking about.

All Professional Group plans were outlawed. Biggest hit was Restaurant Owners who had the NRAssoc, Engineers thru ASME and IEEE and other Groups and Veterninarians who had excellent plans and management thru their AVMAssoc. MEANWHILE -- because AARP LOBBIED FOR O-Care -- THEY got a waiver to keep grouping THEIR MEMBERS into plans.. It's corrupt-- from the start..

The Tech group I belonged to (actual several groups to choose from) offered MSA compliant and other choices that got my family thru 30 years of rising costs. All GONE while Pelosi et al were celebrating and Obama was LYING his ass off to the public..
That sounds really shitty, i'm sorry you went through that. I'm trying to find information about it but can't find it. It appears that the ASME is still offering health plans

Since you don't read YOUR OWN links -- like the ASME one -- I don't care to deal with you. You're just jacking around. Go find a HEALTH INSURANCE plan on that link you provided. They ENDED their Group Health plan circa 2013.. Spend more time discovering truth and less time badgering people that have been destroyed by lies about ObamaCare...
I'm not badgering, I'm looking for information
From the asme insurance website, which was updated in 2017, there is an enrollment link that goes to a mercer market place where you can enroll
https://www.getinsured.com/

I'm sympathetic to your story and am looking for information about it. Can you provide me with some links so I can learn about what happened? From what I just found it appears that there are still ASME plans available, unless that's different from what you talking about...

Anyone who lives in a Republican run state will pay way more than those in a demo state. State insurance exchanges are the key to lower rates. My insurance went way down and my employees went down also.

After Obama was elected I couldn't find a CD record shop anywhere. And I couldn't rent a VHS movie either. And I had to give up my blackberry too. And I had to buy a new car because my old one got too old. I tell you it was a living hell.
