How Is Louisiana Senator Landrieu Hurt By ObamaCare?

In Louisiana, a two adult household with three childen, all non-smoking, at $50,000.00 per year will pay about $220.00 per month for a completely Affordable Health Care Plan. Anyone might guess that next on the agenda might be a national, Affordable Rent Care Plan. The household has more than $47,000.00 left over. If the income is less than $33,000.00 per year, and Louisiana opts for Medicaid, the household has the $33,000.00 left over. Republicans think that this creates a theat to Democrats up for re-election.

Probably neither household, in the first paragraph, has much of a federal income tax liability. That part started when Senate Democratic Leader, Alan Cranston was actually an old friend of both Ronald Reagan, and Democratic House Speaker, Tip O'Neil. In the 1986 U. S. Federal Income Tax Reform, both the Standard Deduction, and the Personal Exemptions, were raised and indexed--and still are indexed, even now. The Clintons put in the per child, equal amount income tax credits. By the time Bush-Cheney came into office, nearly half of all households, filing income tax returns, had absolutely no income tax liability.

Of course the Bush-Cheney tax cuts didn't work. The rich people paying all the income taxes--didn't need the money. The rich got richer, the poor got nothing--and clearly not enough to pay the mortgages. Their "deregulated" national economy burst apart. Even an inner city Democrat could get elected.

Now under Affordable Health Care, any family uninsured can have a health plan. Any business can contemplate a strategy of reduced labor hours, and even pay a higher wage.

Republicans seem to think that all this will make people mad enough to even use a toilet? On Venice Beach, in California, we understand that using a toilet is a kind of novelty, for some of our people. Walking around conscious is also that novel. . .some new form of recreation. . .for some of our people. Many worldwide have come to visit at Venice Beach, in CA, and have likely even recently watched the one Republican Senator, making speeches(?). Our visitors can understand about the Republican Party.

Generally, however, most people at Venice Beach, in California, are not Republicans: Where we seem to know all about them! A lot of them are up for re-election.

It is making people mad because premiums are going up for people who have had insurance. I can attest to that because the premiums in my office just went up due to ocare.

The actuarial requirements of ObamaCare will create premium increases, but that will be due to benefits increases. Those increases will be subsidized, through the premium, subject of the calculator. So employers who have already reduced coverages will still pay more. So will the employees who keep them.

People who opt for an ObamaCare, exchanges plan, may also see a premium increase. The out-of-pocket requirements, for actually using the plan, will decrease. That is the actuarial increase. You pay more montly, but you pay less or nothing for actual benefits, and for benefits you would have to pay for completely--under your current plan.

So A Senator Landrieu, faced with a population with fewer out-of-pocket costs, plus a premium subsidy, would then be facing voting population actually, with more money and more benefits.

Note: The subsidy part has not kicked in, so far.

So in a few days, you can probably start to look into being better off, than you were today.

(Maybe now good time to create a National Affodable Calculator Plan, for comparing current annual medical costs with ObamaCare total medical costs, per household.!)

HEY.. "pre-existing conditions" don't exist any more!
So now idiots that do extreme sports, break legs, etc. file claims. Guess who now pays because all those idiots now aren't questioned i.e. "pre-existing conditions"!!! Thanks!

Individual health plans, now "bare bones," do not have to cover people with "pre-existing conditions." Those are conditions, generally, already being treated or likely to become expensive in the near or even long-term.

"Youth" is not a pre-existing condition, but one complaint about ObamaCare is that the young will have to pay more, including for services they generally do not need. That is an "actuarial" increase. Many contend that "youth" is better-served with a "bare-bones" coverage.

The problem solution for that has traditionally been MediCaid, still an ObamaCare option. "Youth" can become disabling just as soon as something happens, suddenly making "Youth" a medically, geriatric condition.

And so here is the current cost comparison between WHAT YOU just said!

Compare insurance premiums for the lowest-cost ‘bronze’ plan for a 27-year-old single person with the current lowest-cost option for a man in a metro area in 36 states where the federal government will oversee exchanges. Some people may be eligible for subsidies towards the cost of coverage.
The below screen shots show how I sorted the highest increase over the current health insurance for a 27 year old versus the federal government insurance exchange.
For example in Omaha Nebraska Federal exchange rate for 27 year old is $162 per month.
Current health insurance premium for a 27 year old is $26/month.
this is a 523% INCREASE over the current rate that the exchange would require for the lowest cost Federal Exchange plan!

And to your pOINT the 27 year old can get a CATASTROPHIC insurance plan deductions up to $10,000 paid out of pocket!
Monthly rate: $26/month... BUT Obamacare??? $162.00/month!
523% increase for WHAT????
The 27 year old would be better served with a Health savings account putting $150 away for day to day and having a catastrophic policy thus the accumulation is HIS to spend NOT some claim filing duplicate testing paid haphazardly by insurance company!

The state exchange premiums are all over shown to vary widely. For most of the population, qualified for the subsidies then the premiums are actually down to a few dollars per week.

Obamacare Premiums Report Shows Low Prices For Uninsured With Wide Variation

Healthmyths shows this assertion, below, but fails to take it into account in the excessive drivel.

The federal subsidies are actually statutory, and those are shown in the OP citing of the Kaiser calculation. Healthmyth poster takes the same tack as the Mantra-Maniacs at GOP, that "Premiums will happen!" Subsidies are not discussed in the mantras, or shown in the Healthmyths chart. Healthmyths has a chart which does not take the subsidies into account. The OP opened with the chart that does, and created two examples.

So a Senator Landrieu, remaining Senator Landrieu after 2014, will be riding on sea of well-understood final reactions to what happens, starting next week.

The Republicans want that, clearly stopped!

"56 percent of uninsured will be able to get coverage for less than $100 a month per person, Gary Cohen, director of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, said during the conference call."

When you buy car insurance, even, you enter a "risk pool." You may never have to use the insurance in your lifetime, but still you pay--in many states, mandatory. The fact that other people have to use the car insurance, however, does keep the repair shops open.
Maybe they have to tighten a bolt or adjust a clamp for free, every so often. Freebies are an historical marketing tool.

You may have noticed that you get an oil change cheap. If others need a substantial repair, however, they can also choose to get quotes from repair shops of their choice, inlcuding that one. The repair shop owner is betting on the success of a cheap marketing tool, including one you use. So you do pay more for one thing, so that you pay less for something else.

In the Health Insurance case, you probably should get an annual physical. Then as a part of that you may want to get a flu shot, maybe for free. Maybe there is some other screening for free. Your visit may cost, but you pay more for the one expense, to create and obtain the other service capabiliies.
