I saw this and the owners of that nursing home have some explaining to do. How could they just leave all of those elderly and handicapped people there in waist deep water? They had plenty of time to make alternative arrangements for those people. They should have evacuation plans for these kinds of events at EVERY nursing home/school/etc.

I'm glad Texas is doing well keeping up with the destruction, but patting them on the back for doing better than NO is downright ignorant. First response on every level learned from what happened in New Orleans during Katrina and although a thousand people had to die in order to teach that lesson, Texas and every disaster since Katrina has benefited from a response effort that was ready and waiting before the storm even hit.
Houston for some reason got caught with its pants down. I live in Maine and I heard for two days prior to the storm that they were expecting enormous rainfall in Houston. So I don't know what happened there.
