Illegals view welfare as their goal and see no point in studying. School is about free day care and free food. CA needs to obey federal law and toss the illegals out of their schools.

Dan Walters: California’s school gap wider than thought

april 16 2016 For years, California politicians and educators – who are sometimes the same – have talked about the “achievement gap” that separates poor and “English-learner” students from more advantaged classmates.

Three years ago, at the urging of Gov. Jerry Brown, the Legislature completely overhauled school finance. The state gave schools many billions of new dollars, eliminated restrictions on existing funds, and provided extra money to districts with large numbers of disadvantaged students to attack the achievement gap.

Simultaneously, the state is embracing Common Core academic standards. And the state already has administered tests based on the standards, results of which were released last year.

The overall achievement levels were, in fact, relatively low, as educators warned. But the Public Policy Institute of California, in a new analysis, found that they were particularly so for the roughly 3.5 million “high-need” students that LCFF is supposed to help.

But, as PPIC also noted, “at hundreds of schools, no fourth-grade ELs met the state ELA standard,” with the heaviest concentrations of underachievement found in the Inland Empire of Southern California, the San Joaquin Valley and Los Angeles Unified School District.

Overall, PPIC concluded, the achievement gap is substantially wider than previously thought and the results “provide an important call to action for districts and schools that are struggling to educate high-need students.”

Seems someone didn't finish their learning...

All states need to kick out the illegal parasites. Section 1324 of title 8 makes it a federal felony to encourage illegals to live here and giving them free school obviously does that. Lets enforce our laws for once.

8 U.S. Code § 1324 - Bringing in and harboring certain aliens

No, I'd leave it to the states.

But I'll tell you what I would do... any state that offers free public services to illegals, is prevented from getting government funding.

That way we retain the "all rights reserved for the states" and at the same time, cut the Federal budget. If California wishes to go bankrupt paying out money for public services, fine with me. But the Federal Government doesn't bail them out.

Invade mexico illegally and demand free schooling for your kids and see how that works.

How can you leave it to the states when federal law clearly bans letting illegals into school? THINK

Because I don't think the Federal Government should be involved in schools period. The States should be the ONLY one providing education at all, if it is to be provided. And if the state wishes to go bankrupt, that's their choice.

Have you ever talked to these anchor babies or even illegals? They all want to be doctors and give back. No one wants to be an engineer or own a business. They all want to be doctors. The are failing in school, aren't interested in science classes and have little giggles when you suggest that these are necessary. Get down past the fiction and it's how the United States owes all of Mexico because the entire country was stolen. Since we owe them so much, welfare is only fair.

I have a very good friend who lives near Denver. He was telling me a couple of months back that his house (he bought it in 1987) for $76,000 is now worth (according to the realtor) $265,000. He says it's from all the Californians that are fleeing California and moving (in droves) to Colorado. He's selling his home and moving to Kansas - he says, there's nothing in Kansas (which is true) and it's a conservative state (again, true) so he feels he and his "house" there will be safe for a while.. :)

Fucking Hippies.....

You're right. The tenth amendment gives the states total control over education.

America stole mexico??? WTF are you talking about?

Of course America didn't steal anything. What these Mexicans believe is that the Treaty of Guadalupe is a forgery and the Gadsen Purchase never happened. The entire country of the United States was and still is Mexican territory
