I agree with you about cops in general, who are very sympathetic to Trump. In most countries where real rightwing populist movements come to power, or there are “auto-golpes” or the overthrow of democracy or of elected socialists, the cops or military play a key role in supporting the right. That is what they are paid to do and by inclination tend to want to do. So in a serious crisis, liberals and progressives would be very naive to expect neutrality from them.
