God help me, I'm actually agreeing with your OP Matty (I've been around cats for eons). As long as the child shows enough compassion and responsibility to take care of an animal completely dependent on them.

I agree. Me and th best half are getting our girlchild a cat for Christmas. Till then my Ma will be keeping it. We already got a cat tower, two litter box’s some cat nip, some weed (for me) and toys for the cat.
