I will leave France later where to go ?

Dalia, another thing about Idaho that you should know is that in addition to having a lot of white supremacists running around, you also have militias and survivalist types all over the place there.

Wyoming and Montana too.

If coming from a Communist country - France isn't quite that yet but they're working on it - you'd feel very much at home in Vermont OR Oregon. Consider the climateS (both political and weatherwise) according to how much you feel you can handle. Coastal Oregon might, as regards weather, be the more comfortable of the two. Politically? I'd think Vermont might be closer to French socialism whereas Oregon is more "authoritian aging hippie" - not an easy thing to define unless one has had a colony of them as neighbors.
Thank you for the information, Ha but France is far from being Communist it is rather a people who goes to the slaughterhouse

Bonjour, In 15 years, I will go settle elsewhere and I do not want to stay in France or in Europe.
Perhaps England, but I want to live where it is good to live, the climate, the government service, I do not want the government to be against its people.
There are countries I love in Europe Austria, but I do not speak the language and in the United States I really like Vermont after what I saw on TV.

You have an opinion?

I travel to Montpellier, France regularly before I retired. My kids are now running the day to day operations so they do some of these travelings. Actually we rented a 2 room condo last 20 years just for my US employees instead staying in a hotel.

I buy some of my consumables ( reagents & blood chemistry ) in Montpellier from company called Horiba ABX. It’s a very big reagent manufacturer company in France. They have a very huge finished goods warehouse in Lyon. Big means you can park 20 of 747 plane inside that warehouse.

I attempted to make these reagents and blood chemistry here in US but it will cost me 3x the difference from making to buying.
You've done well, and Lyon is famous for everything related to medicine, why is it so expensive in the United States

It depends with your lifestyle and preference.
There are lots of places to retire here in California or other states that are affordable. Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Atlanta is so hot during hot months especially summer. I do not recommend those states.

California weather is the best I know. I can play golf, skiing, fishing, scuba diving, surfing, beach volleyball, casinos etc etc etc. Non stop action. I will never live anywhere in this world except Ca.

I know that the humidity in the summer time in Memphis TN and Jacksonville FL was absolutely horrid. Sometimes, when I rode my bicycle home, I'd end up completely drenched in sweat in about 5 min.

Despite with all the negativity of California. If you look at 15 of the best places to live 4 of them are from Ca.

You can also check here the worst state to live in US. California is not in that list.

10 worst states in our nation for 2018:

1. New Mexico
2. Arkansas
3. Mississippi
4. Louisiana
5. Alabama
6. South Carolina
7. Oklahoma
8. Arizona
9. Georgia
10. Nevada

It is always wise to take these "best places to....." magazine articles with a grain of salt. I would rate California a great place to VISIT, but there are numerous reasons why you might not want to live there. Fires, floods, mudslides, traffic, housing prices and taxes to name a few.

Sorry I misunderstood your post Dalia. I thought you mean where to retire.

There are lots factors involved why medicine related is so expensive here in US.
Biker sailor named one of the biggest culprits.

Also add ...... Regulatoriries (FDA compliance), documentations, special manufacturing tools and environment like clean room and temperature control, transportation, storing, short expiration dates, never ending controls/calibrators and validation.... All of that requirements is very different from making a computer or any equipments because it involved humans health.

Agree Mike but if you look at the mudslides, fires, traffic and housing prices...... Not ALL California are like that. It’s a very small portions of the states.
Housing is a nightmare because we are the victims of our own success. You or me or we like our home prices to go up..... But in California especially close to large cities went over board because of demands.
I was just in Palo Alto and San Jose last month the home prices is so unbelievable. This year two of my friends both home owners sold their house made a fortune one made net of $1.5 millions the other is $2 millions.
They both move in Palm Springs to retire but not in my neighborhood. Without touching a single dime from their 401k. Both bought a bigger and newer house (8 yo) paid it off. This is just one of the success story of owning and selling houses.
I’m sure you want that kind of success. Right Mike?

Clean room doesn’t mean the room is clean with vacuuming and wiping.
To give you an example of a clean room that are everyone is familiar are the Hospitals operating room is Class 10,000.
There are lots of class classification depending with the requirements.

And also the place where we live it must not have too much crime here the police is rather lax and in France we do not carry weapons me in the USA I will have to be armed too for defending myself ?

The South would be your best option if you want to carry or own a firearm.
The Texas Hill Country is beautiful!!!

Actually mike 75% of my life years are here in California.
I traveled heavily all over US ( still do) and overseas I will never live anywhere else permanently except here. Maybe Dubai but not a chance. I still like Key Biscayne but all of my families are here now.
I missed my friends and my neighbors that I grew up with in KB but that’s about it.

California is a beautiful state, love the beaches and the weather. I lived in Santa Barbara around 1989-1990 and really enjoyed it. I was only pointing out there are negative aspects of California you have to consider before moving there.

I think that like like many of you I prefer the spring, I do not like the big hot crushing, I like the rain but not all the time. I love the snow but again it is not necessary that it overflows, I like places where there are many Christmas decorations. I like the places maintained, and yes the beaches as in Normandy, where you can also breathe.

We have most of that here in Iowa but alas the only beaches you'll find are along the small lakes and rivers.

Beautiful land!

What's in Iowa is corn and German-blooded Lutherans, mostly

Hello,. Dalia:

I gather that you wish to settle only in an English-speaking country.

a. Remember that in 15 years' time conditions in many countries may be quite different from the conditions today.

b. During the next 15 years, keep up with what's happening in those countries that interest you. There may be some developments that convince you that country X would not be your cup of tea.

c. I think that you are wise NOT to move to the United Kingdom.

d. I have read that a wonderful place that is physically beautiful and is still socially tranquil is New Zealand.

Best Wishes

My opinion for you is these:

1 - Switzerland

2 - Quebec

3 - Australia

4 - New Zealand

All depends on what you want?

You already live in one of the most beautiful parts of France which is one of the most beautiful parts of the Earth.

There are few places more beautiful than where you already are now.

Wyoming and Montana too.
Idaho and Montana are cold as the north or south poles.

Wyoming is beautiful yes. That's where I will go to hunt antelope and deer next year. It is a hunting paradise.

I doubt you hunt however. Therefore Wyoming is not a good choice for you.

The sad part about this is that it tells me you have given up finding your lost Pomeranian kitty.

Poor kitty !!
