Illegal aliens voting in US

‘D.C. Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb on Thursday said the House was “interfering with local DC self-governance.”

“Today’s move to overturn our laws is not about making the District safer or more just. Today’s actions are political grandstanding and highlight the urgent need for DC statehood,” he wrote in a statement.

“District residents are on notice that lawmakers seek to undermine our democratic process to gain political favor and are substituting uninformed politics for the views of those impacted most, DC residents,” Schwalb added.’ ibid

Exactly.

This is yet another example of rightwing racism, bigotry, and anti-immigrant hate.

It also exposes the hypocrisy of conservatives, who claim to be advocates of the independence of local communities to decide matters for themselves – clearly that’s not the case.

if you are a legal resident and you want to have the same rights as US citizens then become a US citizen.
Wrong.

Lawful permanent resident aliens (LPRAs) are entitled to many basic rights such as the right to due process.

There’s nothing ‘stupid’ about local communities allowing LPRAs to vote.

In fact, LPRAs are entitled to Second Amendment rights – of course, we don’t hear rightwing hypocrites complaining about that.

Those are done at the local level and applies to non-citizens not illegals

You are a legal resident, you work, pay taxes and send your kids to local schools.
You should be able to vote on who runs those schools
We need separate curriculums in public schools. The public-school unions though are controlled by the Prog Socialist Communists. We all know it. Known for decades to break them up. Can not be due to the fact they can feed propaganda to children.

Has nothing to do with people voting

Many of them are working towards citizenship.
In the mean time, they work, pay taxes, start businesses and live in the community.

They send their kids to local schools which they pay taxes for

They should have a voice in how that school is run regardless of citizenship
Until they become citizens they already are represented in whatever country they came from.

did you read my post? I said if you are a legal resident and want to have the same rights as a US citizen then become a US citizen. they do not have the right to vote in any election. and yes it is stupid to allow noncitizens to vote in any election. IT IS THE EPITOME of stupidity. this stupid bill allows illegal aliens to vote which is even worst. how is that wrong

Democrats need more voters to stay in power.

There is a bill in Washington DC that allows illegal aliens to vote in local elections supported by the Demos. That is just plain stupid. Republicans in congress must stop this stupidity
The Democrat Party considers American Citizens to be their primary opposition.

Should they be allowed to vote in state and federal elections?

They pay taxes right? What's the difference?

No, because those representatives could influence foreign policy.
But I have no problem with legal resident aliens voting for school boards and city positions

They live there and pay taxes there

It's interesting that the party of "small government" is now asking the government to monitor the menstrual cycles of female athletes, and regulating whether women leave the state to seek a legal abortion.

They're making a HUGE deal about protect women's sports, a subject which they have never cared about in the past, refused to support legislatively, and continue to mock. They continue to claim that Title IX is detrimental to the male athletic programs in the schools which are forced to divert money and resources to women's sports.

FEMALE ATHLETES aren't complaining about this at all. They have a whole laundry list of things they want to change about inequity in resources and funding, sexual abuse by coaches, and a whole litany of things that could be better for them, but having to compete against trans athletes isn't one of them.

They have no problem with expanding government to imprison as many refugees are possible, or enforcing anti-abortion hate laws against women, or to lock up black and brown teenagers for smoking a joint.

And when they become a citizen they get to vote.

Consider it an incentive to finish rather than "working towards" it forever....

So I as an American should be able to live as a legal resident in countries with local elections and vote locally? I don’t think so. Voting is a privilege reserved for Citizens. If voting is that important to you, become a citizen.
