In only 10% of counties in the US can a worker afford a 2 bedroom apartment working 40 hours a week

'A national problem': U.S. housing affordability is out of whack with minimum wage

Obviously this should bother republican voters, but they have this fantasy mindset that Trump will turn this country into some kind of utopia despite the fact that he had two years to do so with a republican Congress. Their only response when presented with this is the usual pathetic deflection of “well Obama didn’t do it! Derp, derp, derp!”

Now granted Obama achieved little in improving the lives of the middle class and poor besides a few policies. These policies include 1) helping to reverse the Great Recession he inherited from Bush 6 months into his presidency and producing job growth EVER SINCE. 2) Expanding OT pay eligibility for thousands of US workers 3) guaranteeing people receive healthcare from pre-existing conditions, 4) passing the biggest middle class tax cut since Reagan

He also TRIED to invest education and raise the minimum wage but was blocked by republicans.

The point I am making is that republicans do fucking NOTHING to help the poor and middle class but democrats at least make an attempt despite failing on a significant scale. This nuance matters whether you like it or not.

Don't work for minimum wage... problem solved.
Well gee, that’s a brilliant solution. Okay so let’s pretend everyone did that despite such a thing being mathematically impossible. Who would be left behind to work those minimum wage jobs? I mean we are also talking about service jobs that pay more than minimum wage but still very much south of a live able wage.

Take a job, for a wage is, at least until Communism is installed in the US, a voluntary act.

There will always be those too lazy or unskilled to work for anything but the lowest wages. But, by agreeing to a wage that somehow doesn't provide you with enough weed or che t-shirts, you've lost the moral right to demand more.

If you aren't satisfied with your low wages, go do something else.

Otherwise, take what you agreed to take when you took the job and like it.

Okay you say this shit despite the statistic I quoted in my OP. Are ALL of those workers lazy with the exception of those in the 10% of counties?

Your contention is that 90% of US workers are on minimum wage?

That flies directly in the face of the fact there are only 2.2 million workers at or below the current, federally mandated minimum wage, less than 3% of the entire US labor force.

I'm still waiting for you to explain how anyone in this country is being forced to work for minimum wage.

God you are so dense. No I didn’t say that. I said that 90% of workers make a wage they can’t afford.

More importantly, what you are quoting is the FEDERAL minimum wage. This doesn’t include STATE minimum wages that are barely higher in many states are still way below the cost of living needs for a person working 40 hours a week..

still way below the cost of living needs for a person working 40 hours a week

So don't work for them.

No one forces anyone to take a job that doesn't support their needs. If you aren't making enough money at your job, change jobs or spend less.

Minimum wages jobs are not meant to sustain an adult through adulthood. It is sad that some people seem stuck there, but really and I don't mean to sound callous, but who's fault is that? In an economy like this--thank you President Trump--there is no reason an adult who is able bodied, willing to work, with all faculties intact should be able to move quickly up from minimum wage work.

I know several businesses right here in my hometown who are desperate for workers. If you are anywhere near competent you could do much better than minimum wage.

Now, for those NOT able bodied and such, I'm not opposed to help. Let's make sure however and not the disability abuses we saw in the past.

There appears to be a housing shortage and that would explain why in my neck of the woods they are building houses like crazy. As the price of homes increase the FED is set to raise interested rates. People who can afford it want a new home.

Wages are rising and unemployment is low

Average home prices of new homes are falling after rising with May average new home at of 371000

used homes at 314000

when the crash comes there will be a big hurt and that kid will have to move out or pay rent

Still may cannot afford a new home and have to buy used homes with all the headache that the previous owner didn't tell you about.

Okay again this a matter of simple mathematics. If everyone took your advice, who would be left behind to fill those jobs?

Dems only seem obsessed with free medical care, the assumption obviously their voters do not pay a cent for rent but need help to pay for offspring since they have nothing better to do but fuck like ducks in the cesspools they created that used to be nice cities. IMO rent control legislation does not even address the issue. If a piece of property is vacant for more than 6 months, the government must step in demand the landlord either sell the property to the state or lower the rent to market. Basically, landlords have quietly created monopolies often with dirty money from subversive, ethnic groups way worse than large tech companies monopolies. That said paying over $2K a month for an apartment with a garage is still competitive compared to buying a typical, ugly, POS "American" house that will not go up in value in the foreseeable future, has close to $1K in monthly taxes and even more dramatic expense if needs oil heat for example. The point is democrats do NOTHING to reduce rents, they actually increase rents since they support savagery that makes safe areas way more expensive than Black and Brown areas.

Here's a little piece of economics that they teach in schools... called Supply and Demand. If there is no one around willing to take a job at a low wage, the wage increases.

This continues until a) the job becomes obsolete due to automation or it becomes obsolete because those who previously paid for the service no longer consider that job worth it.

At one time, a huge part of low end of the US labor force were employed domestics .

Automation and the adaptation of less pretentious lifestyles among the upper classes has significantly reduced that number.

Live-in, full time domestics have practically disappeared.

Maybe bringing in more millions of illegals will reduce housing costs, health care and increase wages. How about it?

Um okay. How would this unfold exactly? See because if everyone left those jobs and the demand to fill them would go up, there still wouldn’t be anyone left. More importantly, if everyone left those jobs, by sheer mathematics, MOST of those people wouldn’t land a job we are talking about. Those people would either be unemployed or go back to the jobs you think will magically raise in wage.

Net migration from Mexico has been decreasing since 2008. There is no such thing as a border crisis unless you think any level of illegal immigration through out history was a crisis.

You dodged my points.

You want affordable housing and "living" wages while simultaneously supporting unlimited immigration, legal or otherwise, and you demand welfare for the 23 million illegals (and growing) that are here and everyone else that follows them here. Either you want the former or you want the latter but you cannot have both.
