The best way for Americans (or anybody else) to stop economic stagnation is to stop electing Liberals to government. Liberals that are more interested in stealing money from those that earn it and giving it to the welfare queens than growing the economy.

For instance, since that Libtard Obama was elected poverty has increased, income disparity widened and family income decrease. In addition we have dismal economic growth, low worker participation rates and taxes have gone up. That is the kind of crap you get when Liberals are elected to government. The best way for the American people to have a more livable income is for the the shithass government to stop taking so much of our money. The combined cost of government in this country is about 40% of GDP so no wonder people have trouble making a livable wage. Back in the 1950s when we had real income growth the combined cost of government was less than 20% of the GDP.

For instance, I worked 30 as an engineer and my wife a school teacher. For many years my entire wife's salary went to pay for our combined State, Federal and local taxes bill. In fact in some years our taxes were greater than her take home salary. How can a family with two working people get ahead when when one of them has to work to pay the family taxes?

Stimulating capitalism and decreasing government taxation and interference in the markets will produce prosperity for this country not stupid redistribution of wealth and income. That redistribution only works until the money that was made under capitalism runs out then everybody is screwed, which is kind of what is happening now, especially since Obama was elected.
