Indiana catholics agree to marry gays

Gays should be able to get married and have their reception at any willing church. They should understand that they cannot have weddings or receptions at churches that oppose same sex marriage. The same way that catholics have to understand that they will not be able to have mass at a synagogue or mosque. The same way snake handlers have to accept that they cannot take their understanding of Christianity to the methodists and handle snakes on the altar.

You know, I hate to break to you, but the question was NOT about using the church ... it was about the Knights of Columbus hall, which is owned by the Knights, and is not controlled by the church (though, clearly, it is influenced by it).

So, those of here who were so quick to condemn the church, (and you know who you were), you allowed your slavish commitment to a social policy to get in the way of logic and truth.

It wasn't being performed there either, as it was meant to be a reception for the wedding. As in meeting up, talking, having a bite to eat, and going to another venue to perform the wedding.

Little by little evil is winning.

Homosexuals are evil? People who support equal rights for homosexuals are evil?

People like you never stop disgusting me.

If you believe in a God that considers it a sin, you have no choice in the matter.

Mark

If a person doesn't believe that they have that right too.

What makes you think you're so special that you have the right to tell anyone what they can do in their own church?

You nor anyone else has the right to force your beliefs on anyone else. Much less a private church.

If the leaders of that that church want to have a homosexual wedding reception at their church they have that right and no one has any right to stop them.

Where did I say any different?

Mark

I never said that a church has to do something they believe is a sin.

In fact, if that church didn't change their minds, by law they have that right. They're a church. Not a business and don't have to follow public accommodation laws like businesses do.

A private church has the right to do whatever they want within our laws.

It just so happens that the congregation of that church doesn't believe that it's a sin. The leaders of that church listened to their congregation and did what the congregation requested.

Intelligence welcomes change.

If that group of people (they do not represent a Church), wants to do gay weddings, they have the means to do so. The marriages performed at Churches are strictly religious and have nothing to do with legal marriage. So if they do not agree with their church doctrine on the matter, they can go join a different church that will do gay marriages.

They already have the freedom to do whatever they want, so saying that someone is "taking away their freedoms" is an absolute lie.
