IRS apologizes for targeting conservative groups

Nixon was not impeached. The appropriate House committee voted to do so but he resigned before being impeached.
The only president impeached in the 20th century is Bill Clinton, darling of the Dem party.

Nixon was impeached by the House, but not convicted by the Senate. He would have been, but he chose to resign instead. The telling moment was when Barry Goldwater said he would vote to convict. After that, Nixon knew his fate was sealed.

Slick was impeached by the House, but not convicted by the Senate. As Trent Lott said "if we start impeaching people for having sex with people not their wives, there won't be many of us left." He voted to convict, though.

Nixon was NOT impeached. The House vote did not vote to impeach him. Only the House Judiciary Committee voted to impeach.

Please learn American History as it acutally happened and not as it is wished to have happened.
Thank you for taking part in not letting people rewrite history, Shroom.

Another blatant abuse of power. Reminds me of how the Democrats investigated Romney contributors, and posted their personal information online to discourage other donors from contributing.

Why wouldn't they look hard at people who will do anything to get out of paying their taxes and are "anti-government" astroturfers? I'd audit them too.

Why would they want to target Occupiers? They are their core voting demographic.:eusa_eh:

Good catch! Or how about when Democrats gave out Allen West's social security number in a flyer during an election, and what Democrats did to Michael Steele when he ran for Senate.

Despicable: Florida Dems Include Col. Allen West's Private Social Security Number in Campaign Mailer - Guy Benson

Ohhhhhh....but they apologized...just like the IRS (under a Democrat regime) is now apologizing. Isn't it something how these leftist scumbags think all they need to do is apologize (apologize for getting caught that is, not for what they did), and then it's time to move on and forget.

There's just too much of a history of Democrats abuse of power, harassment, thug tactics and labeling of their opposition to not add this to yet another incident in their long history of this.

And the blaming of Bush, like Spoonman said, this guy has a different boss he is taking orders from. Only a dumbass would tie this to Bush.

Then there was Harry Reid accusing Romney of not paying taxes for 10 years without naming a source. Or the guy saying Romney murdered his wife. Or Biden saying "They're gonna put y'all back in chains".
We could start a whole thread on Democrat dirty tricks.

They admit it. Finally.Nice intimidation.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Internal Revenue Service inappropriately flagged conservative political groups for additional reviews during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status, a top IRS official said Friday.

Organizations were singled out because they included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their applications for tax-exempt status, said Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups.

In some cases, groups were asked for their list of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said.

"That was wrong. That was absolutely incorrect, it was insensitive and it was inappropriate. That's not how we go about selecting cases for further review," Lerner said at a conference sponsored by the American Bar Association.

"The IRS would like to apologize for that," she added.

I've said it a number of times and I'll continue to say it....The left are nothing more than Brown Shirts.

very true...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mussolini

Originally a member of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI), Mussolini was expelled from the PSI due to his opposition to the party's stance on neutrality in World War I. Mussolini denounced the PSI, and later founded the fascist movement. Following the March on Rome in October 1922 he became the 27th Prime Minister of Italy. After destroying all political opposition through his secret police and outlawing labor strikes,[3] Mussolini and his fascist followers consolidated their power through a series of laws that transformed the nation into a one-party dictatorship. Within five years he had established dictatorial authority by both legal and extraordinary means, aspiring to create a totalitarian state. Mussolini remained in power until he was replaced in 1943; he remained the leader of the Italian Social Republic until his death in 1945.

No it's not a violation of IRS policy, it is a standard part of IRS policy

The IRS demands that 501c-3s explain where its revenues come from.

Above a certain threshold of donation, it demands the name and address of those donors, too.

And they would NEVER use that information in an unethical way, would they?

Did I say that?

No, I did not.

If what the IRS did was legal, they would never have apologized. They would have said "This is just part of our job". But when they were caught, they said they were sorry. Sorry they got caught that is.

The Bush spokesman with a bull horn is a dumbass, and so is whoever gave him the talking points to try to blame somebody else for thieving on Republicans. They're vile people. They even sent out people to rewrite history yesterday on Nixon. We didn't let them get away with it at USMB. They think nobody noticed, but several somebodies did, and they got a spanking, which they had coming with interest.

They're pandemics. That's just the one small quarter in which they got caught hurting other Americans, and on the federal level. Nobody's quite as good at catching locals punishing their political opponents in the pocketbook.

They don't have to. They have precinct chairmen who have access to voting rolls and now with computers, results. Did they peek? Probably no more than Bill Clinton "did not have sex with that (nearly underage) WOMAN! :eusa_hand:

Aargh!
