Is internet porn ruining our next generation? Is censorship the answer?

"In my mind, pornography is a lot more harmful than even prostitution, because you take a picture or video of someone, they are forever exploited at the age and time that they are, so you can take a girl off the streets, and the exploitation stops, but their photos and videos are out there forever.” ~Trafficking survivor, Jessica Richardson"

Get the Facts About Sex Trafficking
Not if there is a god and women insist on being moral and bearing true witness about fornicating us into relationships. :p

"You don't like Internet porn so the rest of society should suffer censorship."

That was your lie.

From the O.P.

"Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime." - Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart

To date, I have lived by the above quote. I do not lack confidence in our adult population but see this issue as more of a medical one and I am willing to censure for our children's sake.

My comment is correct, .

You delude yourself.

Only those who can delude themselves try to tell others what they know, like or dislike.

You alluded to it the whole time and my assessment was spot on. Quit crying. Good luck getting porn censored.
It won't be censored. It will be recognized as the racket it is, and shut down. Just as Planned Parenthood is going to shut down.

I doubt it. KG, I am pro-life as well but this incessant ability to inject PP into as many debates as possible is tiring.

I don't care if you find it tiring. The fact is the porn industry feeds money into PP, and in return, PP protects and facilitates abuses in the porn industry.

Do you really believe that they do not already have a hand on that lid?

I work in IT.

I know that TV likes to make it seem like it's simple to track anyone, but it it isn't. IP address obtained by DHCP on a public server is nearly impossible to track. Throw a couple of proxies in front and it is impossible to track someone.

Really?

Have you forgotten who owns the technology that make the net available?

Regards
DL

Who OWNS the technology? AT&T, Verizon, Time Warner, and Charter own much of the backbone, the fiber web that interconnect the major hubs. Verizon, Sprint, Level 3, and AT&T (SBC) own a most of the major switching equipment at those hubs. Then it branches out to tens of thousand of LECs and CLECs who connect to ISP's.

Of course millions of spiders from Google, Bing, EvilCorp (Apple), and Yahoo track your searching and browsing, but they only know who you are if you choose to log in to GMail, Live, Apple whatever, or Yahoo.

Paranoia will destroya...

I am not paranoid and have no reason to be.

As far as I know, everything that goes through the net goes through U.S. owned satellites. No?

That was in the beginning and I have not heard different.

Even if not though, the governments have access and control, by law, to all ISPs. Right?

Censorship isn't the answer and porn is not ruining out next generation. Parents can block access to computer and these sites fairly easily. We don't need censors, we need parents to act responsibility when it comes to computers.

Your view of what parents can do is naïve.

DL

So the rest of society should have to suffer censorship b/c parents are either to lazy or stupid to act in a responsible fashion? Not hardly.

I agree. You cannot run a society based solely upon the needs of children.
The societies that succeed do, however.

Most domestic traffic is carried through land lines, fiber backbones. Even much of the traffic overseas traverses the transatlantic backbone rather than using satellites. The problem with routing through satellites is latency. In Asia the routing is more dependent on satellite use.

Ping Google.Com, I get a 7ms response. I cannot send a packet to and from a satellite in that amount of time. With Comsat1 (admittedly used mostly for TV, the main DIrectTV sat) I get a 968ms ping.

It is all via ISP though so there can be no ananimoty unless you are sending from an internet café or some such. Right?

It's dangerous, it's exploitive, and women and girls are doped, imprisoned, traded, and abused for profit. Freedom of speech is fine but orchestrating sex acts for film isn't freedomof speech, it's abuse. Drug trafficking is rampant, as is disease, rape, prostitution and trafficking. Let them write about it. They shouldn't be allowed to film and sell abuse.
Not all porn is as you describe. In Any case, I agree to "blame the right" for Only having a problem with human sexuality in modern times, instead of the timeless abomination of hypocrisy, in these same, modern times.

Do you believe in capitalism or socialism?
Yes, all porn is like that. There is no honorable men in the porn industry, and there are no women in the porn industry who aren't being abused and exploited.
Are you in the porn industry? Did they make you speaker?

It's unlikely that your ISP has any idea who you are. In fact, you probably have to pay them in order for them to know who you are.

In most cases, when you turn on your computer, your NIC (network interface card) sends a request to the gateway (the ISP) to obtain an IP address. This is know and dynamic host control protocol, or DHCP. The IP given to you is from a pool of thousands of IP's. There is very little chance of tracing the IP to an endpoint after the IP is released. What a tracerout will do is lead you to the ISP, and you'll get no further. Only if you pay to have a static IP will they be able to follow you all the way to your local cable modem or router.

Don't get me wrong, there are payloads in cookies and other malware that can snoop the MAC address and start reporting back, (which is why it's called spyware.) But without the aid of such, it's close to impossible to track someone. I know they do it on TV, but people fly on TV too.

Is that the only authority you'll believe?

PP acolytes only believe what is fed to them by PP propagandists.

I reckon porn acolytes only believe what is fed to them by the porn industry PR men.

If people want to do porn and other people want to jack off to it...Well, that is what is called freedom. I thought you were for little tiny government Koshergrl?
I'm for freedom, and porn is tied directly to human trafficking, slavery, and child abuse. So yes, I believe government is allowed to step in and stop human rights offenses. Which are rampant in the porn industry.

lol, the small government people have so many loopholes to let big government in.

I typically don't answer nonsensical questions that serve no purpose except to illustrate the idiocy of the person asking the question.

And I'm wondering in what alternate universe an idiot would take the word of an industry spokesperson as the ultimate word on whether or not that industry is corrupt.

Tell me, do Chinese factories employ young children to work in sweat shops?
Please don't respond unless you're a sweat shop owner, because everybody else's answer will be suspect.
