As I've heard calls in favor of basic wages from Jorge Bergoglio and Mohamed El Baradae, I think, if someone is working hard and is being taxed while others are receiving money in the form of welfare without from the taxes on the working person; is that a form of slavery?

And I have to answer that someone living off the taxes of someone else without working themselves are enslaving those who are working and being taxed. In this way, welfare housing and programs have created a slave owning society out of the average working person. In fact, when I lived in Berks County, I heard some of the city dwellers referring to the working people of the suburbs as their slaves.

Do you agree?

I wouldnt say slavery. More like a drug.
How so?
Say youre working and you loose your job. You get on welfare to take care of your responsibilities. You are going to adjust to the amount of money you get, If you dont have to do anything to get that money other than cashing a check its much easier than working. Logically you would make more working but the output of energy needed to get the free money is minimal. So to me its very much like a drug. You get a short high but you never get enough however, youre hooked.

Is Welfare a Form of Slavery?

Absolutely! Just ask all the corporations who receive corporate welfare. Ask all the Congress critters who receive federal farm subsidies. Michele Bachmann is a prime example of a welfare queen.

Anti-socialist Bachmann got $250K in federal farm subsidies - Politico
Wait, wait, wait... I actually support farm subsidies to keep food production up and the cost of food low. Owning a farm is working, so that's not the same as receiving money in exchange of nothing.

Not if you don't actually do any farming and instead are just listed on the "form" (it was explained on 60 Minutes)

In that case I would agree, that someone receiving farm subsidies without actually farming would be slavery trickery.

Lakhota / the Left struggles to make the distinction between investing in our food sources and wasting taxpayer cash trying to improve Guadalupe and her litter of silver tooth filth.
They refuse to wrap their heads around the meaning of “GENERAL WELFARE”

A slave is property ... deeded and titled ... like your house or car ...

You're talking about Social Security retirement benefits ... workers today pay SS taxes to fund a basic pension for the elderly ... are the elderly slaves to the workers? ... I don't get it, doesn't even look like serfdom ... how do you see this as slavery? ...

Not only do farm subsides keep food prices low, it allows for over-production and just giving the extra to the hungry ... many many many years ago, there was an actual physical object that was called a Food Stamp ... and embossed on every one of them was "Department of Agriculture" ... that doesn't make the starving slaves ...

Welfare welfare ... "aid to dependent children" ... is money spent for children where one or more of their parents are being financial irresponsible ... last I checked (and this was a very long time ago), only single adult households were eligible; and if the children were all school aged, that adult had to conduct an honest and verifiable job search ... I've gotten calls from welfare workers asking if so-and-so applied for a job at my business ... children are not slaves, that was very sternly stated to me by a circuit court judge ...

Apparently WIC has been a tremendous success ... it's a complicated program but it puts the right foods in the right mouths at the right time to get very successful outcomes ... more infants surviving and growing into tax-paying citizens ... we're money ahead AND easing human suffering ... not slavery ...

The welfare system was reformed a long time ago, and limits imposed. Aid to Dependent Children must stay, particularly since the right-wingers want more children born instead of abortion, with absolutely no plans for who and how to raise them. Somebody has to feed these kids. The right-wingers also want someone to remain at home to care for these kids, so how is this possible when the other parent has abandoned the situation or is dead? One cannot be at home with the kids and out working at the same time.

You really need to clarify what Welfare really is. You just tossed a blanket statement out there just to sound important. Now break it down. Exactly What is Welfare?

Not generally, but the way left wingers think about it, yes.

However, it is very anti-freedom.

For me that's the key to why my answer is "no". Nobody twisted my arm to work at any time during my 40 year career, It was my own choice to do so. And then when I had enough it was good-bye tension, hello pension.

100%! Welfare is designed to keep people dependent on the government so they will always vote Democrat.

The problem is taking care of those kids using the current standards just subsidizes bad behavior, i.e. having kids you can't support. and this applies to the men and the women. Government takes the place of daddy, and doesn't tell mommy that having 4 kids from 3 different dudes, all of whom don't support said kids is a bad idea.

A social safety net without stigma just leads to generational poverty.

Blacks in America are on the Democrat welfare plantation. However, instead of having to pick cotton to get their chitlins all they have to do is vote for Democrats.

Democrats hate it when one of the slaves run away from the Plantation.

Absolutely, because receiving aid to support your struggling family is the same thing as being the property of another person

Oh, yes, I agree.

The Insurrection has shown that the "working people of the suburbs" (as you so aptly put it) are becoming the slaves of the "city dwellers" (as you so aptly put it).

Our beautiful Speaker of the House symbolized this by kneeling at the feet of the "city dwellers."
