Israel's Economy: From 138 to 29

In 1948 their economy was ranked 138 their exports were $6 mil. Fast forward 65 years and they are ranged 29th and their exports at $91BIL!!! Despite the endless aggression and wars by her neighbors, despite the worthless boycott, despite her size and despite the mass amount of money she must dedicate to defense, she has thrived from rebirth to a 1st world industrialized democracy that ALL countries should envy!

Israeli exports: From $6M to $91B - Israel Business, Ynetnews

And this is before they start becoming an oil and natural gas exporting country (yep large fields were found in the country and they are developing them right now!

Stick that in your pipe a smoke antisemitic scum!
Here's why Israel has been so "successful" at stealing Arab land and water:

"Since the October War in 1973, Washington has provided Israel with a level of support dwarfing the amounts provided to any other state. It has been the largest annual recipient of direct U.S. economic and military assistance since 1976 and the largest total recipient since World War ll.

"Total direct U.S. aid to Israel amounts to well over $140 billion in 2003 dollars.

"Israel receives about $3 billion in direct foreign assistance each year, which is roughly one-fifth of America's entire foreign aid budget.

"In per capita terms, the United States gives each Israeli a direct subsidy worth about $500 per year. This largesse is especially striking when one realizes that Israel is now a wealthy industrial state with a per capita income roughly equal to South Korea or Spain.”

Jew-First, when can we expect your first repayment, June 8?

Nope that is a conspiracy man!!!

One thing I always find amusing is fools like EOTS and George point to the $1.5-$3Bil Israel gets in MILITARY AID as what makes them, yet their GDP is $243 BIL! That aid is a percent of a percent of their success.

Israel GDP

Yet what these morons will NEVER take into account is the mass amount of their budget they must earmark towards their military. Most countries aren't hamstringed to making such an invest. It's a huge disadvantage, since it takes away from other areas they could spend on. Israel MUST spend $15 Bil on defense. Yes that $1.5-3 BIL in US military aid is sorely needed, but they also pay $12-13.5 Bil from their own coffers! That is huge for a small country like Israel. This is a huge roadblock to their economic, yet they succeed regardless.

The antisemites will always point to the military aid, but never to the obstacles of having to EARMARK so much of their budget to defense!

et al,

Well, I'm not sure that I understand the argument here. What is the contention?

First-off, the US doesn't give states that support terrorism (Gaza like territories) military aid. And while HAMAS doesn't call it terrorism, under US law --- which governs military aid --- it is.

But, having said that, the US help Palestinians in other ways.

CongResearchSrvc U.S. Foreign Aid to the Palestinians RS22967 said:
Since the establishment of limited Palestinian self-rule in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the mid-1990s, the U.S. government has committed over $4 billion in bilateral assistance to the
Palestinians, who are among the world’s largest per capita recipients of international foreign aid. Successive Administrations have requested aid for the Palestinians to support at least three major U.S. policy priorities of interest to Congress:

• Combating, neutralizing, and preventing terrorism against Israel from the
Islamist group Hamas and other militant organizations.

• Creating a virtuous cycle of stability and prosperity in the West Bank that
inclines Palestinians—including those in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip—
toward peaceful coexistence with Israel and prepares them for self-governance.

• Meeting humanitarian needs and preventing further destabilization, particularly
in the Gaza Strip.

Since June 2007, these U.S. policy priorities have crystallized around the factional and
geographical split between the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Some U.S. lawmakers have taken action since August 2011 to delay the obligation of some already-appropriated FY2011 U.S. aid to the Palestinians, largely due to Palestinian efforts — currently on hold — to seek greater international support of Palestinian statehood outside of negotiations with Israel. Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Additionally, various agreements since May 2011 between Fatah and Hamas leaders have raised concerns among some Members of Congress about continuing U.S. budgetary and security assistance to a PA government whose composition could be subject to the approval of a U.S.- designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (Hamas) that claims to reserve the right to violently
oppose Israel’s existence.
Prospects for implementation of the agreement remain unclear.

From FY2008 to the present, annual U.S. bilateral assistance to the West Bank and Gaza Strip has averaged over $600 million, including annual averages of over $200 million in direct budgetary assistance and over $100 million in non-lethal security assistance for the PA in the West Bank. Additionally, the United States is the largest single-state donor to the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). However, whether UNRWA’s role is beneficial remains a polarizing question, particularly with respect to its presence in Hamascontrolled Gaza.

Who the US gives aid to is optional and discretionary. The US has been giving aid to Palestine for some time, more than what the Arab League has contributed. The US is not the only resource.

Arab states agree on aid for Palestinians said:
Saeb Erekat, the chief negotiator from the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), an umbrella group of Palestinian political factions, said that Arab states agreed on Sunday in the Qatari capital, Doha, to make up for the shortfall.

"We agreed that Arab states activate a resolution of providing $100m per month," he said.

"The Qatari prime minister and the Arab League secretary-general will follow up the implementation of this resolution within two weeks."

Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, had warned that the PA could collapse without the funds. Many of the authority's employees have not received their full wages for months. "We can't pay the salaries," he said.

I don't think this is an issue for the US to be concerned with at this time. The Arab League should be the principle sponsor for the Palestinians.

Most Respectfully,
R

so then you dont need the aid ?
Nope. Two billion? That's like one low end highrise building in Tel Aviv. The relationship between Israel and the US can be compared to the relationship between US and Japan. They are allies in every way possible and will remain so. Much to your chagrin.

so why does Israel continue to beg for it ?

When did they beg for it ?? Link ???
