I'm actually taking a course in Surveillance this semester... it is nowhere near as bad as you think it is. The government has a lot more important things to do than to follow EVERY single person in America and do their job keeping track with what is going on around the world. In fact many other countries including the UK have much stronger surveillance than the U.S. does.
