I believe that some millenniums ago from the infinity of Space came a predator[the Flying Shadows], not of organic origin but Solid State artificial Intelligence that defeated us. The predator needs the energies we produce when frightened or in the grip of greed and ambition ...it has placed a Foreign Installation on all human's [similar to the concepts of Original sin and Devil in more conventional beliefs ] shining coats of awareness or Mind...This Foreign Installation saps our energies is responsible for the pettiness and contradictions and cruelty and violence one sees manifested in human interaction and human beings.

Very interesting. I believe that we can't be the only living breathing things among the various solar systems oaut there. After all, it takes about two hundred years to get a message to the closest star, Alpha Centuri, and two hundred years to get a message back. So we really don't know who (which we call aliens) is way out there. They don't even have to look the same as we do, but there could be other civilizations about whom we will never be aware.
