Oh the entire system is broken but the Leftists don't understand how it works. They just want "free" stuff and don't understand that it is not actually free.
I disagree. For years we saw all the profits going to the owners none to the workers. We organized and along with the new deal we created a middle class the world had ever seen before.

Yes those owners and corporations were important too. You guys ever since about Reagan have shit on the middle class. Only you’ve blamed us for jobs going overseas. It wasn’t us. It was you. You wanted to break the unions because they got pensions profit sharing high wages and great healthcare.

Let’s see a less liberal America replicate that. They won’t. But guys like you and me will do alright.

Fuck blue collar and labor. They either don’t vote or voted for trump

Are you for Free Healthcare for All?
Nothings free. I’m for socialized medicine and a private market for things that aren’t necessary or for people who want better.

You know how the VA sucks but service people use it until they one day get better insurance? Something like that. Won’t be as good as your private stuff but it’s better than nothing

Why are you for socialized medicine? Since you know nothing is for free? And if it is not as good why would we want it? You seem logical. I don't follow your line of thinking.
I’ve been unemployed. And I know people who’ve gotten sick and didn’t have healthcare. I wish everyone could have the basics. They won’t let anyone die. But anything extra is gonna cost you. So I would get supplemental healthcare through my company. In other words better than the VA. We already have a system like this. My brother is a vp. He has Cadillac healthcare. You know who used to have that? My dad when he worked at ford. So did all the big three employees. This is another way the middle class is getting poorer. Healthcare is breaking a lot of us.

We spend more now and get less. We could do it right spend the same and cover everyone. At least from dying.

I think Free healthcare should only be given to those who are very distressed and truly cannot afford to pay anything.

Every American citizen with a w2 or w4 or whatever they call it has some skin in the game. Again we are all paying more than we should and getting less than we should. Let’s all start being reasonable and logical

Capital has to circulate under capitalism.

With a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage and unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed; markets could function "more normally".

Just socialism providing "automatic stabilization" for capitalism and capital based markets.

If I own a manufacturing company what is my important stat?

NO actually your labor unions doing this caused the problem!
"Take grass cutting. As defined by the current United Auto Worker contract negotiated with the "Big Five" (GM, Ford, Chrysler, and top parts makers Delphi and Visteon), an auto "production worker" is a job description that covers anything from mowing grass to cleaning the toilets.
In the real world, these jobs would be outsourced to $8 an hour, no-benefit wage earners,
but on Planet Big Five, these jobs get the same wages as any auto line-worker:
an average $26 an hour ($60,000 a year) plus benefits that bring the company's
total cost per worker to a staggering $65 an hour."
what is the average hourly wage of a UAW auto worker?

SO... based on corporate taxes of 35% Ford et.al. moved offshore...Mexico. Guess what happened to American Jobs?
One thing you people that bash Trump, corporations, etc. are truly ignorant of is how taxes affect the economy.
A simple thing like lowering the corporate taxes from 35% to 21% meant there is 14% more available to do things with versus at 35%.
Because these "evil" big companies could move offshore so as not to be taxed at 35% (which was the 3rd highest in the world) they moved the jobs also!

Now please understand something so simple as lowering from 35 to 21 meant 14% more money.
Well guess what these companies can now do? Hire people, build plants. And the US Federal taxes will GAIN and here is why!
Look at this chart...
How much tax revenue comes from corporate taxes...9% right? So compared to payroll taxes 34%... right?
Simple question... do you know how much the employer has to pay for YOUR Medicare/SS payroll tax? I bet you don't know they pay 6.2%... the same as you!
So... NOW how much MORE revenue will the government take in if there are more people working with more employers paying payroll taxes?
It will be and is a FACT... MORE than double what the government will lose in Corporate income taxes. Don't believe me?
Here are the numbers!

As of Aug 2018 161,776,000 compared to Aug 2017 of 153,471,000 or 8,305,000 more people working and paying income and payroll taxes.
https://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf

In Oct 2017 Average hourly wage was $22.18 United States Average Hourly Wages | 1964-2018 | Data | Chart | Calendar
So in August 2018 at average of 40 hours times $22.18 equals $887.20. A total of $7.4 billion a week more in payroll than in 2017.
Employer and employee PAYROLL TAXES paid per week in Aug 2018 =12.4% or on $887.20 $110.01 per employee
means nearly $1 billion MORE per week in payroll taxes or $52 billion more in a year.

Do you comprehend this? The Federal govt by have just 8.3 million MORE people working will gain $52 billion just in payroll taxes!

This is is FAR FAR more than what the government will lose in corporate income taxes and in fact the government might even make more in corporate taxes
because NOW the nearly $3 trillion off shore because of the 35% tax now being reduced will be brought back.
FACT:
All told, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reported, some $305.6 billion returned to the U.S. from overseas accounts.
That's a $1.2 trillion annual rate, and far more than the $35 billion one year before.
The BEA's analysts explain why this happened: "The large magnitudes (of inward capital flows) ... reflect the repatriation of accumulated earnings by foreign affiliates of U.S. multinational enterprises and their parent companies in the United States in response to the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act."
Thanks To Tax Cuts, Companies' Overseas Profits Flooding Back To U.S.

So what are these companies doing with this money??? Building plants, hiring people!

But again this is way too complicated for people who take the easy and lazy way out which I hope you aren't!

We will see.

And if I’m mot mistaken the big 5 now employ temps too.

I don’t like temps because it lowers wages but hey, if you aren’t good enough to work for the big 5 I guess a temp job is better than nothing.

But America was great when those lawn cutters and janitors made as much as the line workers. Today their outsourcing every job. That’s helping the corporations but not the American workers.

For the record I get why a janitor shouldn’t be making $35 hr but that is what made America great here in Michigan. All those corporations paying high wages, pensions, great healthcare, profit sharing. And the companies were still profitable. Now they’re more profitable but the workers have been left behind.

All those corporations paying high wages, pensions, great healthcare, profit sharing. And the companies were still profitable. Now they’re more profitable but the workers have been left behind.

So with auto corporations paying 35% in corporate taxes and between 1945 and 1965, the decline in worker-to-beneficiary ratios went from 41 to 4 workers per beneficiary.
How Many Workers Support One Social Security Retiree?
There were two forces on corporations: 1) wages continuing to climb and 2) pensions were having to cover more people.
So profits which are the measure of a corporation by banks, investors etc. were dwindling even though wages were climbing and pensions were increasing.
Only solution with corporate taxes at 35% was to go offshore where taxes were lower and wages were lower and pensions not necessary.

Instead of working WITH auto corporations to help resolve the simple financial dilemma, the MSM, labor unions and probably your dad looked at the corporations as bad guys.
The enemy. "Fighting" rather than cooperating. Figuring out how to keep the government from taking 35% and yet pay the grass cutters who were demanding $65/hour.
That didn't happen. NOW we have a business person who understood the simple facts this chart shows:
9¢ of every tax dollar comes from corporate taxes vs 34¢ in payroll taxes.
So why not reduce the 9¢ to 5¢ so that companies can pay 6.2% in payroll taxes by what ... hiring more people! Hiring more people means less people on unemployment,
more money in circulation and more people paying that 47¢ in tax revenue!

That from a business person makes more sense then raising corporate taxes and driving more companies offshore thus losing more jobs and putting more people on food stamps!

total cost per worker to a staggering $65 an hour."
what is the average hourly wage of a UAW auto worker?

SO... based on corporate taxes of 35% Ford et.al. moved offshore...Mexico.

Of course that makes sense to a corporation or ceo.

Why did we let them leave and not tariff their imports when they did? The gop and corporations wanted to leave. Break the unions and reneg on pensions. It’s a conspiracy theory but I think the 2007 Great Recession was done on purpose. It needed to be done. It’s how free market capitalism works. Booms and busts

You know who used to have that? My dad when he worked at ford. So did all the big three employees. This is another way the middle class is getting poorer. Healthcare is breaking a lot of us.

We spend more now and get less. We could do it right spend the same and cover everyone. At least from dying.

One suggestion. Where are your links? I've provided proof for my statements.

"Tariff" who's imports? We couldn't because of people including Democrats wanted "global" participation at the expense of the American worker.

So why didn't we put tariffs on China goods imported to the USA is that your suggestion?
We should have. Should have done as China/Europe does on USA autos.

FACTs:
For example..Currently, vehicles shipped from Europe to the US face a low 2.5% tariff
Meanwhile, cars built in America face a 10% tariff when they're shipped to the European Union.
The Chinese Finance Ministry said Tuesday that it will cut import duties on passenger vehicles from 25% to 15%, starting July 1.
Think about that! A TARIFF on a USA made car WAS 25% now it is a grand 15% ! Wow!!
US car tariffs: Which countries have the most to lose?

Why are you for socialized medicine? Since you know nothing is for free? And if it is not as good why would we want it? You seem logical. I don't follow your line of thinking.

One stat. is Labor; what is your point? You get a tax break for simply doing your job and paying wages.

Labor is not a stat. You don’t know basic business and finance and constantly opine on it. Imagine a thread about open heart surgery and a bunch of doctors talking about it. Then I jump in and start opining. They would tell me to get lost as I dont know what I am talking about. You don’t understand basic business so stop opining on it.

We merely need a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage and unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed.

Ah again the ignorance of the United States!

Do you know what the average 1 bed room apt rents for in New York City?
1 bed apartment rentals in Queens borough of NYC average about 750 square feet and cost $2,000 per month
One Bedroom Apartments in NYC: Compare the Latest 1 Bed Rentals in NYC
So a $15.00/hour minimum payment for 160 hours per month generates $2,400 gross income!

On the other hand what about a 1 bed room apartment in Gulfport MS?
1 bedroom rents for about $550/month
So again a $15.00/hr income would still provide a very comfortable monthly income!
Rent Cheap Apartments in Mississippi: from $505 – RENTCafé
DO YOU understand what the "standard of living" is between Queens NY and Gulfport MS means?

That's why one SIZE does NOT fit all i.e. a Federal $15.00 makes NO SENSE just as Universal health care makes NO sense because the USA is so big and so diverse!
Why in Los Angeles alone the school system has to accommodate 92 distinct languages!
Los Angeles Unified School District – LARAEC

So why should the state of NY with a standard of living Taking all expenses into account, the cost of living in New York City is at least 68.8% higher than the national average. If you live in the city center, however, it’s even worse. The cost of living in Manhattan is more than double the national average.1
What is the True Cost of Living in New York City? - SmartAsset
VERSUS cost of living in MS??
Based on a US average of 100. An amount below 100 means Mississippi is cheaper than the US average. A cost of living index above 100 means Mississippi, Mississippi is more expensive. Mississippi cost of living is 84.5!
Mississippi Cost of Living

So I hope you have been informed that simply minded raising the Federal minimum wage is NOT a valid idea because there are 50 states with 50 different costs of living!
Once again you need to do a little more scholarly work rather than spout something that can be easily with a few minutes repudiated!

You miss the point. Budgeting matters under capitalism.

Who cares what the cost if living is in any given State of the Union, we should have the rock bottom cost, as the minimum Standard for our Republic.

Red States need more and better infrastructure, anyway; Labor and potential labor, can help pay for it, regardless of what capitalists are venturing, with Their money.

YOU WROTE: FY...
"Too bad tax revenue is down 9,725,000,000 for the FY since the tax cuts kicked in. In a time of economic boom we really should be increasing revenue, not decreasing it".

You said FY so that's what I used and that's what the attached spreadsheet shares.
Table 9. Summary of Receipts by Source, and Outlays by Function of the U.S. Government, August 2018 and Other Periods

So which is it? FY tax revenues year to date show increase over previous year NOT CURRENT YEAR!

You are right, I did put FY instead of CY. Should have been CY. By the way, CY stands for calendar year.

Tax revenues are up for the FY, they are down for the time period since the tax cuts kicked in, I.e. the CY.

And you are right for calendar year receipts are down... GROSS receipts.
My point of the thread was though that as the poll question is showing Medicare/SS tax revenue is UP calendar year 2018 vs 2017.
This means more people are working and unemployment expenditures are down... i.e. MORE people are working. Older people are now "unretiring" because they can make more
money and again this is all contributing to the gross Federal revenue.

Sounds like deficits should be shrinking then. They are not.

Gator and Brain, do either of you think any of us will live to see the day when the government controls spending? I'm pretty sure I'll never live to see it. I am encouraged by the booming economy, and happy for the people who are doing well. When dems get power back, will either of you make a peep, or will you just cheer your programs?

We will see the government control spending when the people demand they do so. I am happy about the booming economy, but I know it will not last, the nature of our system is that there will be a "correction" sooner rather than later.

I and my family are doing great, not because of who is in the White House but because of our hard work.

I have been making more than a peep since the last Repub I voted for told me to "read his lips" as he was lying to me. I gave the Dems one vote after that and have voted 3rd party ever since. As long as we keep putting Rs and Ds in power we will continue to see spending going up and up and up.

Gator, I'd love to vote for someone who controls spending, but I don't see a way to do it. The Republicans say they will cut the budget, and they don't, and Democrats say up front that they will spend like crazy. I just don't see a plethora of competent third party candidates who will succeed where everyone else has failed. Especially now that American's are hooked on government money and people are cheering about it.

Why are you for socialized medicine? Since you know nothing is for free? And if it is not as good why would we want it? You seem logical. I don't follow your line of thinking.

One stat. is Labor; what is your point? You get a tax break for simply doing your job and paying wages.

Labor is not a stat. You don’t know basic business and finance and constantly opine on it. Imagine a thread about open heart surgery and a bunch of doctors talking about it. Then I jump in and start opining. They would tell me to get lost as I dont know what I am talking about. You don’t understand basic business so stop opining on it.
Explain it to me; I don't make argumentative excuses. I can come up with a superior argument with You, regardless. That will Always be the difference, when You argue with Me.

Thanks for proving you are a mindless troll

spammer; you can't explain your own concepts.

So, you openly admit that the two parties will never control spending, the only difference between them is what they spend it on and one of the two parites will cut revenue while increasing spending. What do you have to lose by not voting for either of them since they both are basically the same party.

The idea that a 3rd party cannot win becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. It goes like this...3rd parties cannot win because nobody will vote for them...nobody will vote for them because they cannot win...3rd parties cannot win because nobody will vote for them...nobody will vote for them because they cannot win...3rd parties cannot win because nobody will vote for them...nobody will vote for them because they cannot win...3rd parties cannot win because nobody will vote for them...nobody will vote for them because they cannot win...3rd parties cannot win because nobody will vote for them...nobody will vote for them because they cannot win...3rd parties cannot win because nobody will vote for them...nobody will vote for them because they cannot win...3rd parties cannot win because nobody will vote for them...nobody will vote for them because they cannot win...

It becomes an endless circle and nothing every changes. Remember the definition of insanity.
