Why is pot illegal in the first place?

Prohibition Begins
Dr. William Woodward, a doctor, lawyer, and the legislative counsel to the American Medical Association, testified before Congress at a 1937 hearing to outlaw cannabis, stating that there was no evidence that the herb is dangerous. He warned that prohibition “loses sight of the fact that future investigation may show that there are substantial medical uses for cannabis.”

When the legislation, drafted by Anslinger, was presented on the floor of the House for a vote, a representative from upstate New York asked, “Mr. Speaker, what is this bill about?” The Speaker replied, “I don’t know. It has something to do with a thing called marijuana. I think it’s a narcotic of some kind.” The New York representative queried, “Mr. Speaker, does the American Medical Association support this bill?” A member of the hearing committee interrupted and replied, “Their Doctor Wentworth [sic] came down here. They support this bill one hundred percent.”

Because it is a dangerous drug.
But use it all you want. Just don't smoke it in public.

Well, alcohol is a dangerous drug, and nicotine is a dangerous drug.

They're allowed.

"Alcohol plays a large role in criminal activities and violence. Excessive drinking has the ability to lower inhibitions, impair a person’s judgement and increase the risk of aggressive behaviors. Because of this, alcohol-related violence and crime rates are on the rise throughout the country."

"An estimated 37 percent of sexual assaults and rapes are committed by offenders who were under the influence of alcohol."

"About 27 percent of aggravated assaults are committed by individuals who have used alcohol."

"about 40 percent of convicted murderers had used alcohol before or during the crime."

The reduction in smoking is due in large part to the heavy taxation on tobacco. Awesome idea. We should impose heavy taxes on anything deemed unhealthy. Like McDonald's? A cheeseburger will now cost you $6. Like coffee? A can of Folgers will now cost you $20. Like soda? A 2 liter of Pepsi will now cost you $5. And to think Michelle Obama caught shit for even suggesting people eat healthy.

People only care about taxes when it affects the thing they like to do.

Because marijuana is the safest available alternative to them

Not really. It causes anxiety disorder, derealization and depersonalization conditions. It's a very dangerous drug for some people. That's what makes smoking it in public so reckless.
Some of us have known this for decades while others still wallow in 1970.
The pot lobby is spending lots of money to keep you and your ilk in the dark.

Are you adding to it?

Adding more stuff to take doesn't necessarily mean people will take more stuff. It might mean they just stop doing something else.

But it's about choice, isn't it? And if pot has less of an impact than alcohol or the same, then why is it illegal?

Do you know the tax on healthy food?

Basically the big sugary companies don't pay much tax. Mars, Coca-Cola, Pepsi etc, but healthy food doesn't.

Hence why sugar food is massively cheaper.

No, coffee's liver benefits are trumped by caffeine, especially in elderly, and by acrylamide for decaffeinated. There is also the idea of chronically drinking dark stuff, when the answer is decaffeinnated green tea which epigallocatechins trump coffee in general.

The Triads like to invest in drugs, so to expose the difference between legal 'juana in Colorado, the punks gets whacked in Cali. Few U.S. prisoners can recite the anti-Chinese history of Cali, whose archive has mostly been forgotten.

We especially like this Sacrimento hit, because the Clinton mafia that links to Sacrimento is the Chinese link to Bedford Township, Michigan. (See Bedford Heroin Rally). Man the border. duh.

I think it still needs to go to Court, and the federal government has no longer any delegated Power to Prohibit forms of Commerce, since the Repeal of that Bad Idea, last millennium.

To Regulate Commerce is the actual and current power in force.
