Kansas Moves to Make Kids Safer in School

Are they going to pay teachers more now that risking their life is going to be in their job description? Can Kansas pay them more after the GOP’s disastrous last several years there?
/----/ All the school needs is a posted sign about armed teachers, one gun in a lock box somewhere in the mail office. You prancing drama queen.

LOL That would do as much good as those fake beware of dog signs or fake security signs. Get a grip.
/——/ and how to do back that up?

Allow some teachers who have a concealed carry permit to carry if they want to.

What you are not considering is that primarily, the administration does not want teachers to be carrying guns and that at least 80% of the faculty and parents do not want teachers to be carrying guns. You cannot force this on the students, faculty and parents of a school. As well, teachers who do not like guns will quit. There will be a flood of teachers leaving schools that allow guns to schools that don't, and the schools that allow guns will have a hell of a time recruiting more teachers. Most people do not want teachers to be carrying guns. It is a RW gunnut thing, not what most of the country wants.

Actually, it's already being done in some schools in Texas, with none of the apocalyptic scenarios you describe. Some schools won't do this and will have to answer for their decision to keep the one thing most effective at ending a shooting rampage far away from the target, likely over the dead bodies of more students.

LOL

Although the Kansas legislature is writing this bill--

The Kansas Association of School Boards and the United School Administrators of Kansas oppose the bill.

You can't force people to send their kids to a school where teachers have guns. You can't force administrators to manage schools where teachers have guns. You cannot force teachers to work in schools where other teachers have guns. No one who doesn't work in schools seems to understand what it is like. There is a lot of confusion and chaos in the halls during passing time and before and after school. There is a lot of conflict among students. There are teachers who have short tempers. There is sometimes conflict between teachers and between teachers and administration. It's not a place to have people walking around with guns.

A poll was posted on this board the other day that said only 18% of teachers, country wide, wanted to carry guns in schools.

Why not just do the obvious thing and create more effective gun laws?

If you people would do your research-- the schools that do this are in very small school districts in very conservative rural areas. If you have a school with 100 students in it, and every kid knows every teacher because they are neighbors, and everyone in the district is a gun owner, well...that's one thing. It's not the case for most of the nation.

Only 1/3 of the people in this country own guns and the majority of them don't want guns in schools.

That means that most teachers should not be armed, and they should not because they may forget which end of the gun goes bang. There are some, however, who are qualified to carry, and it only takes a few to make a potential shooter unsure if he's going to have a soft target or one that could shoot back.

And they shouldn't have them. You only allow teachers who are qualified and know what they're doing be the last line of defense for their students. The others can throw erasers and wait for the shooter to run out of ammo.

What are you babbling about now? Is there some job description change you inserted to push your agenda of hatred of children again?

The sick fuck is lost in his fantasies about Trump fucking his daughter.....perfect example of a washed-up old loser with a ponytail and a drug habit....I got him on permanent ignore.
Yeah, the left are totally demented.
