Kids Taught to Praise Obama

So I think I understand why we need to be concerned..

Typically, we would encourage young children to respect the President of the United States.

But in this case we have a Marxist, America hating, terrorist supporting, socialist, muslim who is not qualified to be President. Its not that he is black or anything....he is just the wrong kind of black

there is a HUGE difference between "respecting" a President and singing "praise" songs to the MAN

btw, where was the respect for the previous occupant of the office?

I wonder where the outrage was when the kiddies sang this little ditty at the White House?

.. Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us
and we join them hand-in-hand!

There is nothing wrong with the children particiipating in the song, as long as the parents approve.

In America a parent has the right to indoctrinate their children any way they want.

It's a public school! They shouldn't be doing anything political. Taxes should not be going to promote political figures, especially in the eyes of those who don't know any better and are predisposed to believe anything their teachers say. There is no justification for this whatsoever even if a majority of parents were supporting it.

Are you being sarcastic?
If a parent is a nazi, homo, christian, democrat, etc..

They are allowed to indoctrinate their children to become a nazi, homo, christian, democrat, or whatever philosophy they want to teach them.

That's America :eusa_angel:

Yeah, but they can do it at home. Not in an institution that kids are forced to go to. You can't see the difference? What the hell is wrong with you?

um, thats kinda naive

when you think about how they spend tax dollars in their districts to basically get re-elected

this, from Hj's link, writen as comment under the taping...:

Update: After a bit of Internet sleuthing, I have found who appears to be behind the video: The publishers of a children's book titled, I Am Barack Obama by Charisse Carney-Nunes. A cover of the book is placed on an easel to the left of the children and the video was originally posted on the publisher's YouTube account in observance of Father's Day.

From their Web site, a description of the book followed by a review:

I Am Barack Obama is not a book about Barack Obama. Rather, it allows children to see themselves through the inspirational story of President Obama growing up as an ordinary child asking, "Who will change the world?" Ultimately, he realizes that he will. I Am Barack Obama highlights for children their personal power to change the world. In the backmatter, children share stories of the possibilities for their lives, as they aspire to the greatness they have seen in Barack. I Am Barack Obama is also the first children's digibook available interactively along with its companion print edition.

Children must be empowered to know for sure that they can change the world. Charisse has captured this incredible moment in history by writing a book that allows young people to see themselves in President Obama. To me and so many others, Barack Obama represents intelligence, judgement, courage and service. Yet, the power in I Am Barack Obama is not in Barack himself. The power, instead, is in each and every child who finds their purpose and manifests a new destiny through Barack's example.
— Hill Harper, Author/Actor/Activist and Harvard Law schoolmate of Carney-Nunes and President Obama

Is this supposed to justify linking a sitting president with all of these ideals in the young minds of these children, effectively indoctrinating them? I hope not, because this is the kind of stuff that happens in dictatorships and I was under the impression that we live in a democratic republic.

Bush was publically bashed...but not in the schools
Nobody kept their kids home because they might learn about Bush

During Black History Month, why shouldn't the first black President be praised?

I believe that earmarks are also wrong, but it is not a direct spending of tax dollars on campaign propaganda (which by the way the NEA is actually doing on behalf of our president). It is the representative competing for federal money on behalf of their constituents.

What is political about singing about the President of the United States?

The kids are 6 years old....you have plenty of time to teach them hate

Rav this is your M.O.

Everytime anything on the left is called out, you come in with the ol' "where was this outrage when X on the right was doing this"

I've never seen you hold the left accountable.

If you could point me to a post where you have, I'll wear another embarrassing avatar

I've said a couple of bad things about Obama, do you consider him left?

This is a valid comparison. I don't care if the kids sang the song about Obama any more than I care that they sang one about Bush. The fauxrage is outstanding, though. As is the hypocrisy because I'm willing to bet that not one of those crying in this thread cared at all about the Bush song.

I'd love to see the posts about Obama, just for shits and giggles.

But you really don't mind that a school is spending precious time targetting children with a politically specific agenda? Singing a neutral patriotic song is one thing, but writing a song about a specific politician and having the children sing it, thereby conditioning them to most likely take a liking to that politician for no other reason than because school told them to, is a bit strange to me.

The only way I'd be ok with this is if it was a project that the class chose to do. If it was part of a teacher's lesson plan, it's wrong.
