Coaches and their Staff are authority figures. Men and Women who have the power to decide gets their scholarship or not. Who gets to play or not. No play, no scholarship the students would be forced to pay for their education or go home without one.

Jerry Sandusky routinely sexually abused football players at Penn State for years. Sandusky totally destroyed the reputation of Joe Paterno, who was one of most winning head coaches in the history of the game, he was forced to retire.

Paterno did nothing to stop Sandusky. He refused to fire or ban Sandusky. Sandusky used his position to abuse players. He also took Paterno's silence as assent.

That is the one thing abusers have in common, power over their victims. Paterno was more interested winning that protecting his players. No person should have that kind of power. But it happens.
