this explains so much. Least-Educated State: California No. 1 in Percentage of Residents 25 and Older Who Never Finished 9th Grade; No. 50 in High School Graduates (CNSNews.com) - California ranks No. 1 among the 50 states for the percentage of its residents 25 and older who have never completed ninth grade and 50th for the percentage who have graduated from high school, according to new data from the Census Bureau. wow. texas took 2nd. we need to stop californians from coming here and dumbing us down.
You need to look at all the data. Despite being 50th in HS graduation, they're a respectable 14th in Bachelors and Advanced degrees. TX is only 0.2% ahead of CA in HS grads, but comes in at 20th and 31st in the other two stats.

You beat me to it. Iceberg cherry picked his data.
Says the guy who REALLY cherry picked his data.

California has a fuckload of people. Of course they have a lot of college educated people, but why arent there more with such a huge population? They should be #1, yet they are way the fuck down at 14.

Your headline says LEAST EDUCATED STATE: CALIFORNIA. What do you mean you didn't go out looking to dog California? That is simply a disingenuous explanation.
It clearly is the least educated state. They are dead last.

In seventeen states, the percentage of residents 25 and older who at least graduated from high school was less than the nationwide percentage of 87.3 percent.

These seventeen states included: California (82.5 percent), Texas (82.8 percent), Mississippi (83.4 percent), Louisiana (84.3 percent), New Mexico (85 percent), Kentucky (85.2 percent), Alabama (85.3 percent), Arkansas (85.6 percent), Nevada (85.8 percent), West Virginia (85.9 percent), New York (86.1 percent), Georgia (86.3 percent), Tennessee (86.5 percent), South Carolina (86.5 percent), Arizona (86.5 percent), North Carolina (86.9 percent), and Rhode Island (87.3 percent).

California and New York get a lot of immigrants. But all those red states have no such excuse. Shame on them.
So youre saying immigrants are dumb? Oopsy, you let youre racism slip out.

The middle class is leaving CA.
CA has a yoog income equality problem.
They have a growing underclass and a shrinking middle class.
Texas has a robust Middle class.
However, as the U.S. becomes more of a third world country all of our social statistics will decline.
We will have more poverty, more crime, more corruption, higher taxes, worse education and more misery.

Wow , this is stunning we always thought the left said the blue states was the most educated?

California ranks No. 1 among the 50 states for the percentage of its residents 25 and older who have never completed ninth grade and 50th for the percentage who have graduated from highschool, according to new data from the Census Bureau.

9.7 percent of California residents 25 and older, the Census Bureau says, never completed ninth grade. Only 82.5 percent graduated from high school.

In fact, the 2,510,370 California residents 25 and older who, according to the Census Bureau, never finished ninth grade outnumber the entirepopulations of 15 other states.

In California, children are required to attend school from six years of age until they are 18. “California’s compulsory education lawsrequire children between six and eighteen years of age to attend school, with a limited number of exceptions,” says the California Legislative Analyst’s Office, an agency of the California state government. (The National Center for Education Statistics also indicates that children in California are compelled by law to attend school from 6 to 18 years of age.)
California: Large immigrant population
Texas: Large immigrant population
New York: Large immigrant population
Kentucky: Hillbillies
New Mexico: Large immigrant population

It seems to reflect the number of immigrants in each state

Adults who immigrate to the US without a HS education get counted gains the state. It is not a reflection of the school system
it is when the HS system goes from top 5 to bottom ten over the course of 30-40 years...

Actually, Mississippi is the least educated state, followed by West Virginia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, Nevada, Tennessee, Oklahoma and then New Mexico.
Wow, there is a ton of RED states at the bottom.

Lots of little hills aren't the same as one mountain, even though Bachman was pretty damn close to Gohmert.

Of the bottom 5 states , with the possible exception of W Va, would you want to bet against the statement that the black population of those states dragged their numbers down even lower than they otherwise would have been, and that those blacks primarily vote Democrat?

The moral of the story being that neither party has a monopoly on uneducated moron voters.

Actually, if you weren't so lazy, you'd see studies I used multiple resources, Including the US Census Bureau.
You are the one who is cheery picking using a source with not much when it comes to multi-parameters. Using multi-parameters is highly accurate, the fewer parameters, the more inaccuracy.
