#LetThemDie: ‘Heartless’ Trump Blasted For Meals On Wheels Cuts

The president’s budget request eliminates federal grants for meals.

President Donald Trump is coming under fire for proposing a budget that includes the complete elimination of federal funding for Meals on Wheels programs.

Meals on Wheels provides food to the elderly, poor, veterans, disabled and others who often can’t leave their homes.

However, under the proposed budget, the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s entire $3 billion Community Development Block Grant program would be eliminated, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The grants fund services for low-income Americans ― including grants for Meals on Wheels programs.

Dude, you are literally complaining about Republicans doing something to cut spending. How are you this disconnected?

Duh, I'm not the president. Thanks for your Christian compassion.

What does Christian compassion have to do with anything? You're literally complaining about someone else having no morals when you don't have any. There is nothing to be compassionate about. You aren't suffering. You arent mourning. You havent done anything that you need to be comforted for. You are being a raging hypocrite. So what exactly do you expect? People to ignore the truth and not call you out on your nonsense? Cause that's not what Jesus did.

The national debt only matters to Republicans when you are talking about welfare programs... were any of them saying anything about the National debt when Trump talked about increasing the defense budget? :dunno:

"...the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped. " ~ Last Speech of Hubert H. Humphrey

And Conservatives want to say fuck the elderly, if they can't take care of themselves they are just a leach on society...

The problem is there is a thin line between those who can't take care of themselves and those who can and opt to take advantage of the system. Democrats welcome those who abuse the system because their goal is to create as many government dependents as they can. The more government dependents, the more likely Democrat voters.

No, you only see those that abuse the system because that's what you are looking for. That causes you to turn a blind eye to all the people that REALLY need the system. I've gotten burned a couple of times helping people that I later found out didn't really need it... but I'm not going to stop helping others because of it. That's a cynical approach and sadly a very Conservative one. That attitude is part of the reason I quit being a Republican. There is a time and place to look for cracks in the paint, but one of those times is not when an entire house is falling down.

Did you ever think that because there are so many abusing our safety nets, that people have a right to be cynical?

You're not going to find many Republicans that don't want to help the truly needy; people that have conducted themselves to the best of their abilities and still failed; people that lived responsibly and still ended up with the short end of the stick.

We live in a country where everybody is a victim of something, and that is promoted by the Democrat party. Look at this thread alone. Trump is not eliminating Meals on Wheels, he is cutting funds for a multitude of programs--it's just meals on wheels happens to be one of the programs under this umbrella. Even the OP made a slight mention of this program.

No, it's because you see one or two and then you all of a sudden start to believe you are seeing more than you really are... because that's ALL YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. It's called paranoia.

Your statement is part of the problem. All you care about is fucking politics and trying to get a "one up" on the opposing party and the people that lose out are the innocent people caught in the middle. If you don't fucking care about the elderly, fine. I'll think you are a piece of shit for it... but fine. But what makes things worse is when you try to blame your opinion of the elderly being leaches on society on political beliefs or your paranoid delusions that everyone is out to cheat the system.

And you think that's not the case? My mother is 82 years old, my father 86. My father (through hard work) created a pension that he and my mother now live on. I was one of three children because that's all my parents could afford. My mother (a very religious woman) wanted at least five children.

I've seen much more than one or two. I work in industry. Supervisors tell me all the time how they can't get their temp workers to work more hours because it would interfere with their food stamp stipend. I get up every day at 5:30 am to go to work to support myself in the suburbs. My HUD neighbors next door don't get up until God knows when, and they are living right next door to me. They don't even have the decency to stay quiet at nights so I can sleep in order to create the tax money they live on. They are coming home at midnight yelling and screaming at each other slamming the doors of their mini-vans. Do you think they are appreciative of me supporting them????

Trump just keeps making the future brighter for Democrats in 2018 and 2020.

There ya go, under-estimating the silent majority again. Keep that up, k?

Although I hate to see seniors suffer - the really hilarious thing is that Trump is giving your "silent majority", aka "poorly educated" a royal fucking. Let's see how they feel in 2018 and 2020.
He is doing exactly what he said he would. Bravo.
And just how many elderly in your neck of the woods have you fed today?

The US Constitution charges our leaders to defend this country. It does not charge our leaders to support people that don't want to work, or people that won't get better jobs because they can't quit smoking pot to get a better job.

Our government was not designed to be a conductor of a welfare state.

Again... you see that because that's ALL YOU LOOK FOR. How many times do you go around looking for families getting help that need it? What do you expect people that get food stamps and HUD to do? Send their wives over to suck your dick or give you a hand job? Send every tax payer a Christmas card? Wait... if you caught them buying a Christmas card with cash but paying for their food with a SNAP card you would say they don't deserve or need food stamps... so they couldn't do that could they?

My grandmother grew up in a shitty poor ass county in Kentucky. at 14 she hitchhiked to Indianapolis where she lied about her age to get a job in a factory. She's outlived two husbands, three children...and despite both her husbands being veterans, she has to live off of around $600 a month Social Security. And your fucking Orange clown of a joke President wants to cut her Social Security benefits, cut her Medicare... and now cut other programs that helps her. And there are millions of others like her. So no, she isn't fucking taking advantage of your fucking safety net programs... and she doesn't deserve to give you one fucking thank you for anything she gets. The fact that you think everyone OWES you something is silly... you need to get over yourself.

And? Show me in the Constitution where it says the U.S. needs to spend what the other 9 highest countries in the world spend on defense. That's a fucking retarded come back.

That's not the point - the point is the immoral budget that Trump is proposing.

I honestly don't understand how any "true" Christian could support Trump's immoral budget.
