Liberal logic on IDs and voting

We need an ID to drive, to get on a plane, to get into a bar, to buy a beer, to buy cigs, to sign up for welfare, to get food stamps, to use your medicade card but you want us to believe that people are to poor to get a FREE ID ( they are free you know for voting) to vote but they can get every where else to use the money they get FREE from the government GOTTCHA... Oh forgot you need an ID to get finger nail polish remover in some areas .. YEP

OK, you violated a well established rule here...

The words "liberal" and "Logic" cannot be used in that context.

There is no relationship between bed wetting idiot libs, and anything that could be considered remotely logical.

That said, I agree that the moonbats would be demanding DNA samples, retinal scans, and urinalisys tests if republicrats cheated in the election process like leftists are well known for.

This is just bloviation which expresses a desire to believe something is true even if it is not. It is ironically illogical.

That's bullshit..because they already do cheat..via absentee ballots.

First, you have to be seriously retarded to believe only Democrats commit voter fraud.

Second, Voter ID will not stop absentee ballot fraud. If you stopped and thought for two seconds, you would realize that. You gonna show your ID to the mailman?

So, once again, there is no voter fraud which only Voter ID can prevent or stop.

Voter ID is a pacifier for the rubes. It will solve exactly nothing, but it makes all the people afraid of darkies and Mexicans sleep better.

Just look at all the fear of them that came screaming out in this topic. Prime targets for demagogues.

This illogical fallacy is getting really tired.

I can demonstrate that showing an ID is the only way to prove someone is of legal drinking age, but you cannot show that Voter ID is the only way to prevent or catch voter fraud. In fact, you cannot show any actual voter fraud which could only have been caught or prevented by Voter ID.

noone said there is no other way to commit voter fraud. This is just one way in which fraud can be reduced.

Your logical fallacy is equivocation. You CAN show that requiring an ID to vote helps to assure one man one vote will only help to keep our elections honest.

Why would anyone have a problem with that?

Fraud gives liberals an advantage - that is their only consideration. No ID allows for fraud!

I keep reading the same tired, lame arguments that ID requirements would do nothing to lessen voter fraud. If IDs are such a non-issue for libs, why do they fight so hard against requiring IDs? If you follow their 'logic' that acquiring a simple photo ID, which most people already have anyway, is impossible, expensive, inconvenient, etc, for certain groups of people, you might want to ask why? Are these people really that stupid, lazy, or incapacitated that they are incapable of acquiring a simple, free ID? That being the case, why would any sane, mature person want this type of person voting in the first place?
The challenge to the anti-ID crowd is this, prove how requiring IDs would harm any individual or the electoral process.

I don't think you know what equivocation means.

Why do you want more government intervention in the exercing of your constitutional rights? You must be a liberal. Or some kind of neo-con at best.

Why do you want something that is unneccessary added to government? That is the very opposite of the definition of "conservative". You people are setting a precedent that is going to bite you and all of conservatism in the ass one day. This obsession with national identity papers is very unhealthy.

State issued ID cards do NOT prove citizenship.

The ONLY identification document that PROVES eligibility to vote in the USA is a US Passport.

What's the point of proving who you are if you still aren't required to prove your eligiblity?
:dunno:

That is what is going on here. This is incrementalism toward national identity papers that would pass Gestapo inspection at the voting booth, on trains, and on the sidewalk.

Bush and the GOP Congress passed the REAL ID act in 2005.

A definite pattern to all this.

Aaaaaaand...we circle back to where the topic started.

Apparently Voter ID proponents really do think uttering a tired logical fallacy again and again will make it true with repetition.
Tell us why you are so vehemently opposed to ID requirements. If you can get a damn Obama phone, you can get an ID card. It is common since to carry an ID with you in case of an emergency.

Explain how no ID requirement does not encourage fraud. If you don't think that there is fraud, and that having an ID requirement is not a mechanism to discourage it, you are stupid. You are opposed to it because it gives liberals an advantage - that is lucid!

If you are on the voter rolls, you are eligible to vote. Proving who you are is not an invasion of privacy and does not keep any legitimate voter from voting.

you had to show an ID to register, show the same one to vote.

Its not a big deal----------unless your party is determined to stuff the ballot box with a lot of dead and illegal voters. :eusa_whistle:

the dem/lib agenda is very clear. they do not want to risk losing the votes of illegals and dead people, AND the right of their supporters to vote multiple times.

I would still like to meet all these folks with out an I.D. in the year 2013, I can only think of Amish folks that wouldnt need one.

Pretty funny since all of the places I have voted I have had to show an ID to vote, even when the law was not on the books.
