Listen: In audio recording, Trump heard discussing sensitive Iran document

No one has said any of that. An EX President cannot declassify anything… or legally have possession of classified docs knowingly.

And Trump affirms he knowingly HAD classified docs
There was a huge debate about whether a President can just unilaterally declassify documents. The arguments ranging from a President can just think a document is unclassified and it is to, he has to make a request to the original classification authority. Acting like there wasnt doesnt change that.

It is simply amazing you tards have not spent even 2 seconds to think about how insane it would be if a president could just declassify our gravest nationals secrets with his magical mind without alerting the people affected by the declassification.

You just get dumber by the day.

"Hey, I just declassified our plans for how we would defend America if attacked. Sorry about that!"
Where does classification authority come from?

Um...retard?

Stating the purpose of a document is not the same as revealing the contents of a document.

Goddam, you people get dumber by the day.

As for classification, Trump lied to you rubes, AGAIN, and told you he had declassified the documents he stole, and yet here he is blabbing his mouth that he DID NOT declassify them.
So, you're saying that making public that we have war plans against Iran doesn't damage our national security?

Profound, jaw dropping ignorance combined with condescending pretentiousness. You are just fucking awesome. My new hero. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

No. It doesnt. We have war plans against any and all threats to the US. Iran is certainly one of those. If all that was revealed was that we have "war plans" for Iran change our national security? Pssst. We have war plans against Russia, China, NK, etc etc. Dont tell anyone it might spoil our national security...

Thank you for your exoneration of Trump.

True. But that fact kind of blows up all your he's a criminal mastermind and planned Jan 6.
It’s his reaction to things, like an election loss, that leads to the events of J6. He reacts and his minions run with it under the direction of his lieutenants, so he doesn’t get his hands dirty. His mouth, however, gets him into trouble every time, because he can’t keep it shut and has to react to every provocation, no matter how minor. His narcissism dictates that he must be in control at all times and that leads to further complications.

From the president to initiate a process of declassification.
It's rest solely in the office of the President. Everyone else's ability to classify or declassify anything comes from delegated authority from the President. No one can tell the President something cant be classified or declassified because it's his authority. Whatever process exists is his process and if he chooses to change that process it is. We can argue about whether thats a good or bad thing but that doesnt change that, that's what it is.

Should a President consult the original classification agency? Of course. Does he have to? Nope.
Should a President take their advice whether or not something should be declassified? Absolutely. Does he have to? Nope.
Should the President ensure that the originating agency is informed that he's declassified the information. Yes. Is he required to? I dont think so.

The argument that the authorities have to be different because a subset of the population doesnt like the current person in the whitehouse is ludicrous.

There's still a process. The president doesn't just think to himself a document is declassified and *poof*, without anyone knowing and without any markup, it is. And then there are classified documents about nukes. The president cannot just declassify those.

You actually believe that dont you?

This I 100% agree with.
