No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

The political bias displayed in applying this scrutiny violates that clause.

It's perfectly acceptable, which is why the 501c(4) tax exemption was eventually granted to almost all of these groups. The bias and violation of the equal protection clause was the selective scrutiny based on names alone, the unlawful disclosure of application information, and the lengthy delays imposed as a tools to suppress operations.

Remember way back when this scandal first broke and the left tried to equate it the IRS investigation of the NAACP, if they broke the law at one of their conventions.

That meme got dropped.

Then they tried to claim that the six liberal groups that were targeted by the IRS proved there was nothing going on.. Except that the Liberal groups got their approvals in weeks instead of the years some have taken.

Now it's this that JoeB is trying to push. What a joke. It won't last long.

She admits the scrutiny was 1) coming from higher levels in the IRS, not from low level people in Cincinnatti, 2) politically motivated.
That means the administration's account of this was a lie.
That means the Maryland representative who said he had solved the problem was lying.
That means this administration is responsible for politicizing the IRS and FEC, and who knows who else.
That means the administration has no respect for the rule of law, specifically the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United.

If that isn't a scandal to you you're dead from the neck up.
 
A lot of smoke in this topic to cover up the fact the woman does not say in the video she has been ordered to target right wing groups.

That the video was posted as evidence of such demonstrates that some people are on some very powerful hallucinatory drugs. They are hearing things.

The equal protection clause only applies to homosexual "marriages" in lib-land.
 
We have several omissions.

First, we do not know how many left wing groups were set aside for extra scrutiny.

Second, we do not know how many total groups applied for tax exempt status during the period in question. The timeframe must match up with the timeframe in which it is claimed right wing groups were targeted.

Third, we do not know what proportion of the applications were from right wing groups, and what proportion were from left wing groups.

Consequently, it is IMPOSSIBLE to know if right wing groups were targeted out of proportion to their representation.

That no one is even asking these questions indicates they are, once again, not the slightest bit interested in discerning the truth.


Truth is always the first casualty in partisan hackery.
