Majority of Republicans do not see value in a higher education

Liberals are such children. Tell them that their expensive education in Early Celtic Transgender Basketweaving is worthless and they will immediately scream back "you don't want me to be a heart surgeon!"

That's hilarious coming from someone who is advocating that there's no need for a college education. :laugh2:

I would bet that these 'liberal children' are far more successful than you could ever hope to be.

According to Pew research, By a steep 22-point margin, Republicans now believe American colleges and universities have a net negative effect on the country. In 2010, Republicans still said college was a good thing by a 26-point margin. So that’s a complete collapse in GOP support for higher education (self-identified Democrats and independents have always thought college is good by overwhelming, 40-point plus margins, and still do).

Yes they do but they believe in freedom of choice for individuals.
Not the government telling them what to do.
Tech schools are just as good with good pay.

No one said they weren't. There are plenty of skilled trades where one can excel and do well. That in no way diminishes the need for a more formal path for those who choose to set their sights a little higher.

People are being too hard on republicans. College is harmful to them because they're allergic to education.

And how often do you read new books?
About once a week, sometimes twice depending how fast I read the book.

I'm also a teacher, so that requires me to do a lot of reading.

I actually just finished a book called "Death of Expertise" that discusses the anti knowledge and anti science movement that's going on in America.

So Im not surprised to see republicans thinking college is bad for America.

Take a poll of how many students in colleges and universities who are taking 'hard science' courses identify as REPs compared to being Dems. The results are hardly surprising.
Go to MIT and take a poll.

Skilled tradesmen/women make far more $ than fucking LIB snowflakes who teach courses on medieval footwear to stupid LIB snowflakes.

I doubt that.

There is no value to the majority of these degrees. None. That's why they are unemployed saddled with enormous student debt. There is no market for Campus Rioter on a resume`.

You know this.

Better they go to a good trade school.

I respect a journeyman heavy duty mechanic far more than some LIB man-bun pussy who teaches LIB indoctrination to gullible teenagers anyday.

But not nearly as much as others. It depends what you're looking for.

Why do you assume that most graduates have 'useless' degrees?

How about the MBA that makes anywhere from $250K to well over a MIL?

Trump did not cause this loss of confidence in colleges and universities, the colleges and universities did that. Students are running up debts in the hundreds of thousands of dollars for degrees that do not improve their career prospects. Did you think people wouldn't notice?
No, the GOP BS propaganda machine caused it. You people are basically insane....College grads make much more...
For young people just getting out of high school, come up here and work in the oil/Fracking fields, coal mines in the northern plains for ten years or less. Save as much as you can and you'll never have to worry about money again the rest of your life. Easiest thing in the world is to spend less than you make....
I will make sure my doctor and dentist do that, so they won't have to attend college.

Whatever, ben...

She's long dead now, but she was about the best doctors I ever knew. Funny thing is, Dr. Metcalf new attended a single day of college. Both of her parents were doctors and she began working in their office before she was a teenager. Years later she tested, and received her medical license on OJT alone.

To show how good she was, she was the "go to" doctor for emergency medicine for the entire county.

Another thing about her was that she disliked pharmaceuticals. She would prescribe them, but many of her treatments involved "home remedies" that worked better, faster, and with fewer side effects. As an example, I had a serious case of stomach flu. I has major cramps and "blowing my oats" 2 or 3 times and hour. She gave me a quart jar of powder she made in her office. A couple tablespoons in a glass of water for dehydration, then she sent to a store for a couple of bars of Switzer's Black Licorice for stomach cramps and nausea.

I think the powder was a really bad tasting early sports drink, and she told me that the licorice coated and soothed the stomach wall (I hate a cold and bad cough another time and she sent me to get a bag of Hound's Tooth candy). all of those remedies worked quickly and at low cost.

Anyway, the point of this, I'm not sure, but I don't think a person MUST got to college to get a J.D or M.D. All you have to do is pass the test for the medical license, or pass the Bar exam.

Ohhh I see.

Point out that a degree in Human Sexuality in Aztec Cave Paintings will never result in gainful employment and it means "you don't want me to get an MBA".

You're making a dumb argument purposely using fictitious degrees. That's dishonest.
I'm not comparing the least skilled jobs to those that require a degree. I'm comparing the best skilled jobs. A young, trained welder can easily make over $100K/yr if they hustle. Not a bad gig. But that's pretty much the max and just as with a degree, not every welder will earn that. It depends what you're looking for in your life.

You would be wrong. Some states require attendance at an acredited law school to even tske the bar. California does not. A certification by a judge that the student has completed mandated courses of study will substitute but the student must also take the baby bar. No one will get a medical license without a residency and you won't get a residency without a med school diploma.

How many journeymen tradesmen are currently employed? How many MBAs are they making what journeymen tradesmen are making?
You have the mentality of a ten year old.
How many 'MBAs are making a million a year?
You can't count Webb Hubble's daughter Chelsea.
Even though she's already been awarded a "Lifetime Achievement' award for doing fuck all.
Like BONOBO got from the Nobel Prize committee populated by Socialists, for getting up in the morning.

Why does it make you mad I have a certain amount of money. I think you feel the money implies I am a better person than you think I am. The money only shows I was a decent business person. It does not mean I am a good person. But I am a great person but it has nothing to do with the money I have.
I think you are jealous of what a great person I am.

No, it makes me think you are a bald-faced liar.
Bald head liar or a bold face liar, either way I am not lying. It does not matter if you feel I am lying. I question whether you are really John Wayne or an Admiral. But it does not matter whether I believe you either.

I am neither. The character was played by John Wayne.

Your attitude and demeanor depicts you as a liar. Sorry if the truth hurts.

You even screwed up the description. There is no such thing as a "bold face liar". Your education fails you yet again Mr, Faux Millionaire.
Your words really hurt, Admiral.

I call a spade a spade.

Maybe you should take that so-called money and go back to school. I am sure some liberal arts college will be more than happy to accept your tuition as long as it isn't Monopoly money.
Most of the time I see you calling a spade a heart.

Because they do. Unfortunately, the entire complaint over student debt is from those who have useless degrees. McDonalds and Domino's delivery is full of people with useless degrees.

Young people take courses that are easy. Show up and pass. Then they find that the trade off is to be unemployable.

I wish it were different.

It's because so many colleges aren't teaching the skills needed for life. They are more interested in churning out social justice warriors. So, there is no value in that. It's a fucking waste of money to send your kid to college so they can be indoctrinated by radical professors. That is the dumbing down of Americans. For fuck's sake, they teach them that they need safe spaces so they don't hear any opinion not pound into their brains by the professors.

We need to get back to basics.

t's because so many colleges aren't teaching the skills needed for life. BINGO..Practical application is lost.

They are more interested in churning out social justice warriors. For many it produces the opposite effect. This is because their narratives surrounding social justice are lies, never mind out of place.

So, there is no value in that. It's a fucking waste of money to send your kid to college so they can be indoctrinated by radical professors. I try to push my kids into skilled trade school, and/or if a University, medical, technical, useful science or math. I wouldn't mind hotel hospitality either. Two of my kids could pull it off and connections help. Heck an accountant makes bank, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone..HA! Useful stuff, something in demand that pays well and almost enjoyable. If someone is chasing liberal arts.........You're destined to work for the government, and about anyone can do that. Even a business major is worth beans, course depends on the school.

That is the dumbing down of Americans. For fuck's sake, they teach them that they need safe spaces so they don't hear any opinion not pound into their brains by the professors. And this is why I explained in another thread, Indians are better options than Americans in the IT world. They're more efficient and capable without the drama.

We need to get back to basics. And that's why.

Another problem is that parents aren't teaching their children skills they need. So many seem programmed to leave it up to the schools to do the parenting. That is not working out. The teachers that do want to teach the basic stuff can't handle all the undisciplined, disrespectful kids. Other schools are trying to usurp parent authority. It's a mess.

Involved, intelligent parents working with good teachers is now a thing of the past. We are doomed.
I agree, but many parents still do work with their kids but too many do not

Very few people can get any value out of a Liberal Arts education. Kids today go to college collect loads of debt and expect 6 figure salaries as soon as they graduate. Sorry but degrees in 16th century Kabuki Theater ain't paying the bills.

No......you are wrong.

How many degrees in 18th century feminist poetry can Star Bucks absorb behind their counter before we have a problem...genius?
I respect an intelligent Barista over a stupid POTUS.

I agree. I know a lot of baristas who were smarter than Obama
I've seen dog turds smarter but Obama ate those right after the dog.
Obama was not a perfect President but person of high character and a very good President. Having Trump follow him is going to make him that much better in history.
:lmao:
Barry was a fucking piece of dog shit and still is... high character? you are fucking stupid in the head.
He was a shit president, there would be no trump if there was no Obama… Shit for brains
You have a way with words. I like Obama and I feel history will treat him well
