Wrong, a semi-automatic is a subcategory of automatic as the English sentence structure makes obvious.Wrong they are semi automatic they require a pull of the trigger for every shot.All AKs are automatics, meaning they auto-reload.
That doesnt mean they are 'fully' automatic and autofire when reloaded.
With just a rubber band you can convert an AK to full auto.With a decent spring setting and some practice should be able to pull in two-bursts at least once per second.But the SOP in Texas is to shoot home-invading shitheads without thinking twice, agreed. Even in my far-north state we have a "deadly force" law, and there's an AK hanging on a hook behind my bedroom door.

Most people probably don't need as much firepower as this Houston gentleman.
But those who have made the assessment and determined that they personally do, should have that right.

But it's not just the violence that they have caused. It's the fear, the immeasurable fear, that our children live in, because they are still on our streets. I want to get rid of that fear. I want to do what Australia did and New Zealand just recently did. I think this issue just needs some bold leadership to do it.

And the fact that there is no other designation for the firearm it's gonna stick up until the point they decide to change that designation.

That is why the distinction between an actual AK, and a cosmetic, semi auto clone.

Mea culpa, it seemed likely to be an automatic, the way the OP was phrased. That said, only a fool keeps a loaded weapon under a couch, or a hermit without friends, family or visitors.
