McAuliffe signs order restoring rights to 206,000 felons; Speaker calls it move to boost Clinton

democrats are slimes that's all. they believe they are the peoples dictator. they just sign some order and walla felons are able to go vote for Hilly billy "Clinton the felon. over the WILL of the people and if you have any objections, well that's too bad .

even if everyone pardoned voted for clinton, 200,000 votes is like spitting in the ocean

A little more than 2 percent for Virgina, many elections decided by far less. The democrat party should hold its convention at Folsom State Prison.

Seems right that this is the despotic party of criminals taking care of their own. It seems to me that even though the democrat party is run by old white men they sure don't give a crap about white men or women.

McAuliffe signs order restoring rights to 206,000 felons; Speaker calls it move to boost Clinton
Gov. Terry McAuliffe today signed an order that effectively restores the civil rights, including the right to vote, of more than 200,000 felons in Virginia.

The order by McAuliffe, a friend and supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton, is likely to boost Democrats' chances in what will be a key presidential swing state in November.

Speaker of the House William J. Howell, R-Stafford, said in a statement that "The singular purpose of Terry McAuliffe’s governorship is to elect Hillary Clinton president of the United States. This office has always been a stepping stone to a job in Hillary Clinton’s Cabinet."

Setting aside the idiocy believed by conservatives as for whom ex-offenders might vote, this is yet another manifestation of the reprehensible right, that they would seek to deny citizens their right to vote for some perceived partisan advantage.

Ex-offenders have served their sentence in accordance with the rule of law, and having served that sentence they are allowed to rejoin society and participate as citizens, including exercising the right to vote.

Most on the right would seek to extend that sentence, in conflict with the rule of law, and subject ex-offenders to further punishment absent due process, by denying them the right to vote.

Isn't that his legal right to do?
So if you do away with the felon part, they should be able to purchase a gun? Right?
This fails as both a red herring fallacy and false comparison fallacy.

Hillary is happy rapists and murderers will be able to vote for her.

WTF is wrong with Liberals?

Tired of having to secretly let felons vite every election so, like Hillary with stripping the classifiex headings off of documents, for the sake of convenience they are openly alliwing / doing it now?

You forgot to mention it was done "for the children."

Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Kinda like dictators operate. No concern for the will of the people.

Its a true fallacy if they lose the felon part. Then all rights should be given back. No fallacy just truth.

did they get their gun rights back also

of course it was a political stunt to give hillary votes

No. The April 22nd order does not create automatic rights restoration. The order only restores the rights of individuals who are eligible as of April 22nd. Going forward, the Governor will continue to review eligibility and restore rights on an ongoing basis

Will these people be able to sit on juries?

Over 6% of the adult population is excluded, including about 30% of black men, creating a class of citizens defined and punished by the criminal justice system but unable to impact its function. The parallel issue of felon disenfranchisement has drawn considerable scholarly attention, despite its lower, declining, and less racially charged numbers. The racial composition of juries has been widely discussed in the literature as well. By contrast, felon jury service has been almost entirely ignored, despite a mass of legislation and appellate litigation, and despite glaring racial disparities.

One can hardly argue that the biggest problem with the American legal system is that our juries do not have enough felons on them. Nevertheless, the question of whether and when felons (principally "ex-felons") should serve as jurors involves several larger issues.

The Exclusion of Felons from Jury Service by Brian C. Kalt :: SSRN
Felons should have a chance to contend as individuals for a seat on a jury, under the same constraints as everyone else.

If you can't do the time then don't do the crime. Simple. It was up to the felons which crimes they committed. They knew. this is just publicity BS.

No, they should not, they have already shown a contempt for the law.

The governor said this disproportionately disenfranchises the voting rights of blacks...ignoring completely that blacks disproportionately committed more crime. A filth Democrat governor siding with criminals over law abiding citizens shocker /sarcasm
