The worst flooding since the 1927 flood.
It goes to show how powerless we are against nature. Central and southern Vermont was hit the worst. Photos are from Montpelier.

The news said that it exceeded the 1000 year flood plane.

The denialists can disprove AGW by simply sticking a finger in that water to determine if it's warm or cool?

And that should be the final word on AGW by denialists! They're decided unequivocally against it!

Yet the fact I didn't have to put my AC in my window until late june instead of mid may is evidence of nothing right?

Either weather change or climate change Marty. You too can be a part of the discussion, if some self control is observed. Just keep in mind that hurt can be on you in the big leagues!

Watermelon horse-hooey.

It's amazing all the solutions proposed = socialism and more government power.

And all these "1000" year, "500" year, and "100" year floods are just design parameters for structures, drainage systems, roads and treatment works. They are statistical risk assessments, not some scientific predictor of actual storm frequencies.

They can also be made worse not by changes in weather, but by continued development of non permeable surfaces without the required parallel improvements in drainage.

It's weather. They had some weather in 1927 too...

FREE YOURSELF FROM THE ILLUSION THAT CLIMATE CHANGE HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ENVIRONMENT. WE, DE FACTO, SPREAD THE WORLD'S WEALTH THROUGH CLIMATE CHANGE.

The UN...

^ They couldn't be more clear, could they???

Sadly this thread has nothing to do with climate change.

It happened before in 1927, was it warming then?

About 15-20 years ago we had such a event here in Virginia....14" of rain in some spots and a shit-ton of homes got flooded and roads/bridges washed away.

The residents said it was like a wall of water that came off of the Shenandoah National Park and into the mountain hollows.

At one of my hunting leases four miles of state road and three small bridges were just gone and the small creek's path was moved over by about 100'.

One guy that lived up there said the water came off the mountain behind him about 6" high and scoured his yard clean....He said he was lucky that the French patio doors kept the water out of his basement.

I think that was June 2007. I set a record of 9,5” for the event including 7” in 3 hours. ’Filled up the entire basement of one of my houses and flowed out the side door.
