In the time when Psychiatric medications were not available, most people claimed that those who acted outside the ordinary daily confines of human interactions were 'demon' possessed, moon stricken, struck with palsy, or other forms of spiritual manifestations. These forms of trying to understand the differences in those who were exhibiting 'strange, frightening' behaviors only changed after the coming forth of trying to understand the human mind, the human personality, and how the mind and person work together to form a personality. Even in the Renaissance period, MichaelAngelo, DaVinci, and many other artists depicted these forms of 'abnormality' in their paintings and sculptures.

In today's time, after the pharmaceutical company began the legal experimentation of chemical bondings, many medications are made to help the disordered person to be able to 'cope' with their symptoms. Psychiatrists, themselves, claim that these medications do NOT cure the disorder but helps the patient be able to 'deal' and 'cope' with the symptoms so that they may have a more productive/functioning life. But at one time in History, these same people who are prescribed medications, would have been deemed as demon possessed. Even Jesus asked the man in the tombs who he was and the person responded with a very strange response. The man in the tombs replied that he was 'legion', meaning 'many'. In those days a Legion was word used to denote the number of soldiers there were in a group. A legion of soldiers was 2000 soldiers. And so for the person in the tomb to reply that he was 'Legion', he was saying that he had 2000 'things' in himself. And then the person goes on to know Jesus' name and to ask Jesus to not cast them out into outer darkness but into the swine that were feeding on the nearby hillside. Jesus commanded the Legion to depart out the person. They depart out of the person, enter into the multitude of the swine and the whole multitude of swine run off the cliff side into the waters below. The man is now in his sane mind and is speaking coherently and is understanding the situation around him. He may even have been startled to realize that he had been in the tombs for so long. He has returned back to normal 'mental' health. He is no longer deranged nor lunatic nor doing and acting 'demonically', but he has now returned back to being at peace with himself and his surroundings being in sane mind and heart and soul.

If this same man were here today, he would be taken in to a psychiatrist for evaluation. But if the person can mask his symptoms and the doctor deems him fit for society, society may have a very dangerous person walking around in their midst. Serial murderers have sometimes been questioned prior their murders only to be released and deemed as 'sane.' But they have gone out and committed murders. And after this, they are called 'evil' and deranged and demonically possessed by those who, themselves, do not even believe in such a thing that is called the good versus evil concept. So in essence, these murderers have either,
1: An evil spirit within them (either of themselves or of another)
2: A mental/personality/emotional disorder which could 'explode' out of control.

An evil spirit does not always mean that it comes from some spiritual plane. The evil spirit within a person could have been developed by the person himself through years of doing harmful things in his life. And at the same time, a person might be able to have other 'evil' spirits enter in and begin 'directing' the person's life. And so this brings us to 'free choice'. With free choice, we have the option to do or not to do. We have the option to do the things which are either good or bad for us and we have the option to NOT do the things which are either good or bad for us.

The evangelists like Rod Parsley, Popoff etc.. exemplify dissociative disorders.
Split personalities thus speaking to imaginary beings and in tongues and being quite peculiar in behavior and perceptions of reality. But what would be the diagnosis of the group of people following such men?

In my opinion, the people who follow would not be classified with any disorder if the people with split personalities are in positions of authority.

So you would classify the flock of these charasmatic TV personalities as being just
mesmerized and entertained by their manic personalities?
I look closely at the audience and I see a lot of troubled less educated people trying to find their purpose and meaning or affirmation by latching onto any trend or group that will have them.
These evangelists are often feeding off the disadvantaged and somewhat mentally challenged without feeling the least bit of guilt or remorse in doing so.

Well, it would have to depend on who is being referenced to. If the charismatic TV personality is spreading lies and untruths, and who have a split personality, then they probably don't even know what is truly going on. The audience has every right to look into the things which they hear since it was them personally who went to the venue or tuned the tv to that station. If the TV personality is gaining tons of $$$ by being charismatic while speaking untruths, then who is really the 'unwise'?

But with greater responsibilities, such as TV Personalities, there will be greater Judgments.
