Montana State Senator Jason Priest Arrested For Suspected Assault

Montana state Sen. Jason Priest (R) was arrested and jailed on Sunday for suspected partner or family assault and resisting arrest, according to the Associated Press.

The Red Lodge representative and founder of the conservative non-profit group Montana Growth Network was booked on Saturday at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility with a $335 bond. A jail dispatcher told the Associated Press that Priest was still in custody Sunday afternoon.

Not for nothing, but yelling alone at a household member can lead to an arrest with that charge. Domestic violence laws go out of their way to give an many reasons to arrest for a lack of violence coupled with the discretionary powers of police officers being curtailed and you end up with cases where people have been arrested for having an argument and no laying of hands was even involved.
