More White House officials at Michael Brown’s funeral than Thatcher’s; (NONE for Margaret Thatcher!)

I hope it's a bust of Winston Churchill. Obama hated him. Read Dreams from my Father, someday.

Winston Churchill was a racist bigot. I 100% support Obama's decision to move his bust out of the White House. Coming back to Margaret Thatcher, it is not a big deal if White House did not send anyone to her funeral. She was also a very questionable figure. She openly supported oppression of Native Australians by white supremacist Australian society.

Was he a bigot? That would explain his failure to get reelected after leading during the war.

When he was younger, yes His opinion of independence for India was well known....but like all great leaders he had the ability to adapt & change. Also, I read there was some discord in the Thatcher family, some preferred the focus be on the UK, rather than world leaders. Other no shows:

Among the former U.S. presidents, surviving U.K. prime ministers, world leaders and celebrities who made the cut are some high profile would-be guests who sent regrets: Former First Lady Nancy Reagan — whose husband had a close relationship with the late premier — will not be able to attend; nor will former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, who shared key moments in history with the Iron Lady. Germany’s Angela Merkel is sending her foreign minister.

^^^^ Easy to see why Obama hated Churchill.

Obama hated Churchill for many reasons and most of them were related to Barack Hussein Obama Sr.

Obama was 3 or 4 when Churchill died....doubtful they knew each other.

Bigot is a soft word to describe Churchill. He was a Nazi actually. Richard Toye has written an excellent book on this subject; it is called Chruchill's Empire.

I have done my own share of research on this guy and the picture is not pretty. Churchill ordered creation of concentration camps in Africa which killed, tortured and imprisoned large number of people there. One of the favorite British tactics in Africa was to cut men's testicles.

Churchill supported international network of white supremacists. He diverted grains away from India causing famine which killed millions. Under his watch Indian resources were taken from India without paying a dime to India.

Here is an article for you from a British source. Read this but know that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

It is absolutely irresponsible to glorify this scum.

Oh, one piece of artwork expresses the President'a actual emotions about a leader from a prior generation............I heard baby Bush is getting good with crayons finally:

The White House had TWO, one on loan:

The White House has had a bust of Winston Churchill since the 1960’s. At the start of the Bush administration Prime Minister Blair lent President Bush a bust that matched the one in the White House, which was being worked on at the time and was later returned to the residence. The version lent by Prime Minister Blair was displayed by President Bush until the end of his Presidency. On January 20, 2009 -- Inauguration Day -- all of the art lent specifically for President Bush’s Oval Office was removed by the curator’s office, as is common practice at the end of every presidency. The original Churchill bust remained on display in the residence. The idea put forward by Charles Krauthammer and others that President Obama returned the Churchill bust or refused to display the bust because of antipathy towards the British is completely false and an urban legend that continues to circulate to this day.

Yeah, well, so was G.W.Bush — a particularly poignant fact, given what you said earlier in post #16 this very thread:

Really? You can't possibly make a case for Obama having proper respect for our British allies. You're better off defending him for his time on the Golf course.

There is a difference between UK and Churchill. Removing Churchill's bust does not dishonor UK in anyway. British actually are far more reserved about praising Churchill. But for some strange reason, there is a serious misunderstanding about who Churchill really was among so many Americans. Churchill was not a great person by any stretch of imagination. There is no need for his bust to be present in the White House.

Yeah — except that we're not talking about the elder President Bush: we're talking about the younger.

But okay, we understand, Peachie: it's allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll his fault.

No, I noted only living Presidents that served at the same time as Thatcher. Also note "lent":

The White House has had a bust of Winston Churchill since the 1960’s. At the start of the Bush administration Prime Minister Blair lent President Bush a bust that matched the one in the White House, which was being worked on at the time and was later returned to the residence.

I know the difference between an imperialist and a Nazi. But I doubt you know much about Churchill. Because I have a hard time believing that anyone who has truly researched Churchill's deeds would support the scum. Even Brits had enough sense to kick him out of the office as soon as the war was over. I have talked to many British people about Churchill, they are very reserved about him. Simply because Churchill had a serious dark side which cannot be defended. He was deeply involved with international white supremacist gang. I would suggest read the book called Churchill' Empire and let me know if you still think he was a great guy.

I never said he was "a great guy": I simply stated that there is a difference between a (British) imperialist and a Nazi.

And for someone who claims to be as well-read with regard to Churchill as you are, it's a bit disingenuous to call the guy whose leadership helped strengthen the British resolve to defeat the most evil man of the 20th Century a Nazi, don't cha think?

You cannot spin truth, holmes.

I don't recall the Brits asking for it back....

It is difficult to find any group of people Churchill said only good things about:

"I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals."

One thing is certain, he saw the threat Hitler posed long before the rest of world leders. FDR second.
