"communism was our universe when we were kids. it was here to stay. i didn't even know that shops could be full. i was naiive" - Russian political dissident and prisoner of Putin, Mikhail Khodorkovsky
The Bolshevik takeover in Russia was a terribly wrong turn for the international left. The Bolshevik takeover was not the democratic revolution predicted by Karl Marx, It was a coup by a well organized, well armed minority of political fanatics.

According to Marx, in a capitalist country there would be a large class of employees that would grow in size and poverty. There would be a small class of employers that would become smaller as it became richer.

The socialist revolution might be violent, but it would pit the vast majority of a capitalist country against a small minority. The new socialist government would have the fun, easy, and popular task of spreading the wealth around.

In Russia there was no wealth to spread around. Even before the First World War Russia was a poor country. After the First World War and the Russian Civil War - which may have killed more Russians than World War One - Russia was destitute.

Lenin knew that his government was unpopular, and that he needed to rule dictatorially in order to stay in power.

We could pass the time by telling old Soviet jokes.
A man was reported to have said: "Nikolay is a moron!" and was arrested by a policeman. "No, sir, I meant not our respected Tzar, but another Nikolay!" - "Don't try to trick me: if you say 'moron', you are obviously referring to our Tsar!"

That would be great, but somehow I don't think a maniacally obsessed dictator is going to give up that easily. An organized march of 200,000 Mothers of dead Russian Soldiers might turn the tide though.

Russia got a big problem. Most of its military is in Ukraine, leaving most of Russia wide open.

ahh, simpler times! Russians called her "Our Maggie" after the interview which 100 million people watched

Before you guys have your orgasm over the potential demise of Putin, and by the way I hope they get his ass, don't forget the Wagner Group has a reputation of neo-Nazi activity.

A President Prigozhin is probably worse than a President Putin.

I wonder which side the Muslim horde from Chechnya will choose, they will only align with who they think will win. That's their problem when a rat seeks help from a snake.

I think you’re posting to the wrong forum. Please ask for it to be moved to the ‘History’ forum, as it very little to do with what’s happening now.

Prigozhin is not a better choice than Putin. He's reckless, radical, and dangerous, especially if he gets ahold of nukes.
i predict Prigozhzin will be defeated by America, paving the way for a free market economy in Russia and full democracy and an end to the old Soviet centralized command system

USA! USA! USA!
