...after Trump won, the defendants allegedly helped organize both a pro-Trump and an anti-Trump rally on the same day in New York City, suggesting that one of their aims in promoting Trumpâs candidacy may have simply been to cause chaos in the US.
The specific charges against the Russians include one broad âconspiracy to defraud the United Statesâ count, but the rest are far narrower â one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud, and six counts of identity theft.
This doesnât hugely change what we know in terms of Russian interference
In a sense, these charges are plucking the low-hanging fruit of Russian interference.
Furthermore, other allegations of Russian interference â involving the hacks and leaks of leading Democratsâ emails, and hacking into election-related computer systems in many states â play no role in these charges.
We donât yet really know what this means for Muellerâs larger investigation
...the bigger picture is that these indictments really donât change much about what we know, or tell us much about where Mueller might be going.
Furthermore, with the Russians charged not being in the United States to face arrest, itâs unclear what this case will amount to. Indeed, one of its effects may be to serve as a public and political statement that Muellerâs team isnât solely focused on the Trump teamâs potential wrongdoing â that theyâre attempting to fulfill their original charge of investigating Russian interference. That may make it harder for the Trump team to justify firing Mueller.
Still, looking at the Mueller investigation as a whole, itâs grown to be quite complex. One Trump adviser, George Papadopoulos, pleaded guilty to lying about his contacts with Russians during the election. Another, Michael Flynn, pleaded guilty to lying about his contacts with Russians after the election. Two other ex-Trump aides, Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, were indicted for alleged money laundering unrelated to the campaign. And Muellerâs team has been looking into potential obstruction of justice from the Trump administration too.
The new indictments, then, are a piece in this larger puzzle â a puzzle that still isnât yet solved.
What Muellerâs new Russia indictments mean â and donât mean

LOL too much Benghaziguess the cat got your tongue pc tell us about only the bestPC Please tell the board in your own words about how Drumpf picks only the best,,,,Make my day lolBy what metric is this throwing in the towel? More indictments is not throwing in the towel. The object of an investigation is to get at the truth by the way! I am not a Trump fan in any way shape or form but I personally would prefer that our nation did not recieve the dubious distinction of having an elected president impeached or sent to prison. How ever we must defend our elections from fraud, if people are indeed guilty of tampering or culluding they must answer for those crimes. Predicting the out come of these investigations is folley at this point we do not have all the information the investigators have. Time will tell the out come, not pure speculation.
Actually, it's proven by Mueller tossing in the towel.
Sure looks like a back-door attempt by Mueller to run and hide.
The Nunes Memo made it untenable to continue the 'War on Trump,' and he needed to find a way out of the corner they had painted themselves into, before a second special prosecutor was put in place to send the conspirators to jail.
Mueller's indictments in a totally different direction than you Leftists expected is a version of 'rats leaving a sinking ship.'
Mueller indicted individuals he cannot extraditeâŚ.and ties up loose ends by leaving all American out of it
âRosenstein said his team has not had communication with Russia about the indictments and would go through normal channels for the extradition of those indicted. However, the U.S. government hasno extradition treaty with Russia. In the past, Russia has not cooperated with these requests.
....Rosenstein said that "there is no allegation in this indictment that any American was a knowing participant in this illegal activity.
He added that "there is no allegation in the indictment that the charged conduct altered the outcome of the 2016 election."

Special counsel Robert Muellerâs office has told a federal judge it has found evidence that Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman, committed bank fraud not addressed by the indictment last October in which he was charged with money laundering and failure to register as a foreign agent.
As legal wrangling continues over a $10 million bail package for Manafort, prosecutors this week accused him of submitting false information to a bank in connection with one of his mortgages.
âThe proposed package is deficient in the governmentâs view, in light of additional criminal conduct that we have learned since the Courtâs initial bail determination,â prosecutors wrote in a court filing submitted on Tuesday and made public in a redacted form on Friday evening. âThat criminal conduct includes a series of bank frauds and bank fraud conspiracies.â

Pleeeeezzzzz, you imbecile....
1.The Hillary campaign paid for an anti-Trump Russian creation called the dossier: they used law firm Perkins Coie to funnel money to GPS Fusion and Christopher Steele
2. The Hillary campaign screamed that they had been hacked, but refused to allow any government agencies to inspect the supposedly hacked servers
3. The FBI admitted that they knew the dossier was fake from the start, but used it to get a FISA warrant to surveil Trump and associates
4. A secret cabal at the highest levels of the FBI and the DoJ worked with GPS Fusion to undermine the Trump campaign...before and after the election.
5. FBI found classified data on Huma and Anthony Weinerâs laptopâŚ.so they gave them a pass
6. The FBI decided no charges against Hillary before they interviewed herâŚ..with no record kept of the interview, and not under oath.
7. Both Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills were found to be lying to the FBIâŚ.but given a pass ...and allowed to keep their laptops, and destroy any evidence on same
8. FBI agents Strzok and Page and McCabe talked over a plan to overturn the electionâŚ.an âinsurance policyâ
9. Loretta Lynch with Comeyâs acquiescence, worked to benefit Hillaryâs campaign
10. Obama knew about Hillaryâs use of unsecured emails, as he conversed with her on sameâŚkept his name out of the reports.
11. BTWâŚ..Mueller, Comey and Rosenstein were all government officials when Hillary received the $145 million bribe for the sale of our uranium.
....Robert Mueller was the FBI Director during the time of the Russian uranium probe, and so was his successor James Comey who took over in 2013 as the FBI was still developing the case. Rod Rosenstein, then-U.S. Attorney....
12. The FBI offered to pay Christopher Steele if he could corroborate the dossierâŚ.so he told Yahoo Newâs Michael Isikoff about the dossier, had him print the informationâŚ.then told the FBI that Isikoff independently discovered the âfactsââŚ
Steele admitted, in a British court, that he leaked the material to Yahoo. September 23 Yahoo ran the story.
The FBI took the Isikoff Yahoo story to the FISA court to get the warrantâŚ.then fired Steele for sharing it with news outlets.
13. After the FBI fired Steele, he continued to confer with Bruce Ohr and the DoJâŚand Rod Rosestein and Sally Yates.
In September of 2016, this was Steeleâs statement to Bruce Ohr that he âwas desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being president.â
14. Fired by the FBI as untrustworthy, Steele is maintained by the DoJ as a contact, and all the while, Bruce Ohrâs wife is drawing a salary from the group Hillary hired to produce the dossierâŚ.GPS Fusion.
Bruce Ohrâs wifeâs connections to Hillaryâs paid dossier-producers, GPS Fusion, was never disclosed to the FISA court.
15. Not Hillary Clintonâs Campaign, nor the DNC, nor Christopher Steel, nor Fusion GPS, nor Bruce Ohrâs wife, the roles of none of these participants in the creation of the dossierâŚ.not a one was revealed to the FISA court.
16. Letâs compare the zealous and very aggressive action by Mueller against Flynn, Manafort, Papadopoulos, and Carter Page with the immunity and passes given aboveâŚ..
âŚand lots of evidence of associations of Democrats with the KremlinâŚ.
âŚcompletely different treatment.
17. And all of the players in on the fix were demanding the Memo not be releasedâŚ.and lied about why it should not be released.
Let's not avoid the issue, eddie....
