Nelson Mandela dead

You're the one calling him a terrorist I'm calling him a communist which is a fact not BS.
Measure a Communist by his actions. Where are examples of Communism in Mandela? If he was a loathsome Communist, tell us how his Communism manifested itself. Otherwise, your criticism of Mandela shows not only a warped and misguided understanding of history and communist ideology, but a blindly ignorant judgment of a man who is universally admired by people of all political stripes.

So redeem yourself and your assessment by demonstrating in real clear terms how Mandela served a Communist political ideology.

Do I have something that I should be redeemed for NO I don't
You're a Communist!

See how easy it is? All you have to do is make an allegation and it sticks! Like a child in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692 or a junior Senator from Wisconsin in 1950, all anyone has to do is point and declare and no matter what, the charge is legitimate. Or legitimate to those who harbor ignorance rather than fact, hatred rather than justice and repression rather than freedom.

And for the record, any conservative out there who thinks I've suddenly morphed into a bleeding heart liberal, you are sorely mistaken. I grew up hearing stories about Nelson Mandela. Unlike you, I know when to acknowledge a man for what he has done for his people. I will defend him and set the record straight. He isn't any of the things you are labeling him as. He paved the way for racial equality in South Africa, much like Martin Luther King did here stateside.

If he was a thug you wouldn't hear about it from the media mainstream that is. Alt. media would be disregarded if it were true. just look at how the media treats obama. Anyone who calls them-self a communist no matter how good they act, they're still a communist.

To have the need to be redeemed I must have done or said something wrong. I've done neither therefore I need no redemption.

Secondly, he shared one common goal with Communists. End Apartheid. Not once in his life did he refer to himself as a communist. He was erroneously accused of violating the Suppression of Communism act by working with Communists to oppose Apartheid. Did that make him a Communist? No.

His reasoning was this: "If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner."

You're dodging me. Where on earth did Mandela refer to himself as a Communist? Do you have proof to back this claim up?

Perhaps you should stop giving in to stereotypes.

Mandela was a member of the ANC, who stood for African nationalism, Left-wing nationalism, Social democracy and Democratic socialism

Simple question what is Communism?

In his book "Long Walk to Freedom", Mandela states that he wrote this as a rhetorical exercise, rather than as an ideological assertion. (Although I never had the sense that he necessarily denounced Communism, but that he chose instead another system of political beliefs embodied by the ANC.) He had argued that part of Communism's lack of appeal to ordinary South Africans was due to Communist literature's tendency to be "dull, esoteric, and Western-centered." When Moses Kotane insisted that it was not possible to present Communist ideals in language "simple, clear, and relevant to the African masses," Mandela undertook the writing of this piece, borrowing the title from the work of Chinese theoretician Liu Shao Chi. (p. 418) Mandela, Nelson Rolihlahla. "Long Walk to Freedom". Little, Brown and Co. 1994

Have you read it? Where does he explicitly refer to himself as a communist? Hmm? That comment was taken from another one of his books, "Long Walk to Freedom." He enlisted help from the Communists because the Americans couldn't be bothered to assist him in his revolution. He did become a member of the SACP to enlist help from the Communist superpowers in order to get his revolution off the ground. Once again, because western powers would not be bothered to become involved. But as you have yet to prove, he never once implemented communist policy in South Africa. Not to my knowledge.

Mr Joe Slovo 23 May 1926 to 6 January 1995 was a South African politician and a long-time leader of the South African Communist Party (SACP). He was also a leading member of the African National Congress (ANC).

I guess Mandela is another obama who was not careful or did not care who is friends were.

The Right Wing Haters on this board have maintained their high level of consistency. The passing of a man who was universally admired for his cause and the results of his suffering and hard work in that cause has the wannabe Rambos here up in arms because:

Mandela was a Black man and therefore not merely different from the Haters, but inferior in their eyes. There can be no cause to celebrate the life and work of one lone Darky, so far as they are concerned.

Mandela resisted, protested and ultimately overturned a system of repression and cruelty. One group actively brutalized, repressed and discriminated against another (something that is always wrong, but something that is boorishly embraced by Right Wing Haters. Just ask them about Marriage Equality in America if you doubt me). The Haters would be even angrier, if that's possible, should any system that represses be overturned, particularly by those who had been repressed.

They slap the label of "Communist" on Mandela, in spite of the fact that Mandela created in South Africa a stable democracy that respects property rights and freedom for all citizens. It seems that this "Communist" label is all the Right Wing Haters need to do to signal to each other that they can openly despise someone without fact, proof or truth. They learned this tactic in the early 1950s when their political hero Sen. Joe McCarthy used it in his witch hunt to ruin lives and score some cheap political points. It was so effective at destroying reputations that the Right Wing Haters have added it to their despicable playbook of political action and have used it ever since.

If Mandela was a Communist, why is South Africa not a communist state? When given the chance to institute a new government for South Africa, why wouldn't an avowed Communist take the opportunity to impose Communism as a system of economics and political control? Why is South Africa the most politically stable nation on the African continent? Why wasn't DeBeers nationalized after the fall of the P.W. Boetha regime?

Is calling Mandela a Communist more appealing than just playing the race card for the Haters? Could the heat be too intense after calling Mandela an uppity ******?

You are just a fucking imbecile. I posted the poem from which the title of the movie about him was taken and nothing more. Now what the fuck is your problem with a poem? Exactly.

I don't think it was directed at you

My son goes to various web sites like Reddit. One of them had a post yesterday where some young wit observed that:

NOW that Mr. Mandela has passed, Morgan Freeman assumes the mantle of being the world's wisest black man.

I don't think Morgan Freeman is a wise person. He just plays a lot of them in the movies. Bill Cosby I could agree with. Morgan Freeman, not so much.

Morgan Freeman is a nice guy down to earth, he can get bent on his politics but all in all he's ok

Why wouldn't it be. Every other damned vile accusation and mean spirited statement they post is. Nosmo should have quoted the posts to which he takes exception instead of just throwing his vile venom out there in this manner.
