More Americans blame the Republicans in Congress more for the difficulty in reaching agreement on spending cuts by the deadline. But both sides are urged to compromise...

Republicans are going to have a very hard time holding on to the House in 2014 with all of their blunders. Obama is playing them like the great maestro, and they are playing right into his hand. He knows they refuse to work with him, so he's doing all he can to see to their defeat in 2014.

LOL...so now Barry is a "maestro" for doing nada? The "maestro" declared that he wanted to lower the deficit with a "balanced approach" of spending cuts and tax increases. He got $43 dollars in tax increases for every $1 in spending cuts in the deal he forced upon Republicans to avert the fiscal cliff. So when does the "balance" part of his approach kick in? When is he going to stop playing politics and actually do something to start fixing our problems with the deficit?

I'm amazed by how you progressives think a big win in 2014 is somehow going to be the answer to your prayers. You do realize that if you win back the House that you won't have anyone to blame for the country's economic malaise? Imo, this is an non-issue longterm UNLESS the teaparty (aka Gop) refuses loopholes that are actually distorting markets as part of an overall deal to knock off another 1-2 trillion and raise the debt ceiling. If it's just more of the same with Senator Lee URGING that we default on the debt and Ayn Ryan calling for medicare vouchers ... then the gop could lose the House.

And there's the gun issue. The gop owns all the rural districts they'll get. Blue dogs in the House are dust. If white suburban moms see the gop as catering to people "clinging" to high capacity magazines/weapons, there's even more pressure.

Your ignorance is great, Grasshopper. You should definitely ponder the question of whether or not you know what is good for the Republican party. Unless the Republican party has something to offer the American people that is different from what the Democrats offer the American people, it doesn't matter whether we win or not. Power, for the sake of power, is not the goal. That is a left wing concept.

As a conservative, I am a Republican because it is the lesser of two evils. The tea party is a conservative subset of the Republican party, and is not to blame for the state the party finds itself in. They advocate for limited government, and fiscal responsibility, and they stand firm on those principles. Anyone who wishes to assign them blame for the current impass is either an ignorant ass, or a partisan Democrat.

Compromise is not a one way street. It means that both sides of the impass must be willing to concede something to reach an agreement. One side, the Democrats, cannot make unreasonable demands and then expect the Republicans to meet them halfway between unreasonable and reasonable.
