.

And they can be very dangerous.

Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom forcefully criticized Walgreens over its new plan to stop shipping and selling abortion pills in some states after 20 state attorneys general sent a letter warning about the policy.

All I can say is, lawyer up!!

Considering California has morphed into a hyper-partisan entity of the DNC than an actual state in the union that Newsom personally owns, perhaps this is Constitutional after all.

We shall see.
Newsom mandated the vaccine...

If he can do that to children, he could give out free abortion pills to kill more children.

Walgreen's said,
We intend to be a certified pharmacy and will distribute Mifepristone only in those jurisdictions where it is legal and operationally feasible,”
Newsom says, "We're done."

Similarly, Walgreen's also does not sell medicinal marijuana. Why isn't he worried about that? California thinks it's a beneficial drug.

What's this obsession with killing babies?

Why are stores forced to sell certain things? As far as I can tell, Walgreens also does not sell Bibles, newspapers, or rifles, and these are actual rights guaranteed to all law-abiding citizens under the Constitution.

Seems like ridiculous political grandstanding. He is the freaking governor of California. He could secure life-saving medications if he wanted to. He could secure baby-killing medications if he wanted to.

The left has brought us trans mania, support of men participating in women's sports, giving medals to women of courage who are actually men, support for mutilation of young peoples genitalia to support mental illness!
The "left" didn't bring any of that to you.
The "left" just exposed your unreasoning self hatred.

Why are you so fixated on male genitalia?

I think Walgreens moving out of state is wonderful

More will follow.

I envision a state that is only a massive nature preserve, with Jeff Bezos and his Silicon Valley buddies only affording to live there

That and millions of homeless folk that will be walled off from their gorgeous estates.
Let them move.
The other pharmacies will cheer their departure
AND
their move will make room for "mom and pop" pharmacies.

Again.................Walgreens had a contract with the state of CA to provide drugs for use in the prison system. Newsome didn't agree with the policies of Walgreens, so he decided to not renew their contract for providing drugs for CA inmates.

No. Newsome is NOT shutting down Walgreens. He simply decided to not renew their contract and go with another pharmacy to provide medicines for the CA prison system.

Like I said...................if a Republican governor had decided that they didn't want to renew a contract with a company because they disagreed with liberal policies that the company might have, you conservatives would be cheering that the Republican governor is taking a stand for their values and that the free market has spoken.

This is a whole bunch of screaming about nothing. Walgreens will continue to do business elsewhere, and another company will get the contract to provide drugs to the CA penal system. Walgreens stores that are still open in CA will continue to operate without any government interference. If any of the stores in CA close, it's because WALGREENS made the decision to close them, not Newsome or the state of CA.

Wrong.

Walgreens remains at liberty to discriminate against women by refusing to serve their healthcare needs; just as California is at liberty to not facilitate Walgreens discriminatory practices with taxpayers’ money.
Yes. California will refuse to provide the abortion pill to women in California prisons who have been raped by Transwomen. Walgreens gave the best price. Tough shit.

California does not control the world. It's time they were bloodied into understanding.

Mom and pop pharmacies can't compete against the corporate pharmacies because they can't get medications as cheap. That's why there are none around, and least here there's not.

The problem California has is that every other major provider is doing the same thing as Walgreens. They are not providing the abortion pill in those states that have made it illegal to do so. No company is going to break the laws of another state just cause California says.

The California prison system will just overpay for shortages.

Why haven't any mom and pop pharmacies moved into the depressed areas vacated by chain pharmacies?

Because mom and pop pharmacies cannot afford any of the robberies.

Newsome [sic] attacks Walgreens
This is a lie.

Governor Newsom’s action is perfectly appropriate and warranted in response to Walgreen’s refusal to provide healthcare services to the women of California.

Walgreens is at liberty to discriminate against women seeking to exercise their right to privacy and reproductive autonomy; California is at liberty to refuse to use taxpayers’ money to facilitate that discrimination.

Are you saying small businesses are a bad thing?

Of course they can't compete.
But eliminate a walgreens from the mix and there's more room for them.

I don't know the rules here but in Titusville, Florida there are at least 8 of those shops
Only 1 in this town in Ohio

But if Walgreens wants to abandon the 8th largest economy in the world to meet demands of a bunch of big empty states over false ideologies then I personally don't see that as a bad thing.

Because Mom and Pop don't need and can't afford 200k SF.
You ever been to a mom and pop shop in a "bad" part of town?

Maybe understand what you're talking about before opening your mouth?
Naaaah. Why bother?

Mom and pop anything are just robbed out of existence. Like the big stores. It just doesn't take as long.

Walgreens is doing just fine. So is CVS. They obey the laws of every state they do business in.

How did you get the idea I thought mom and pop shops were a bad thing from what I wrote?

I love mom and pop shops. I wish there was a pizza place around here that wasn't a franchise. I was raised with mom and pop shops as a child back in the 60s. I think the only place around here that was a franchise was Woolworths. Everything else were small convenient stores.

Unfortunately I can't live in the past. I have to accept things the way they are, and at this pace, even big box stores will be closing up due to online buying such as Amazon. I was a musician in my younger days. I remember going to music store after music store to find exactly what you wanted or needed. Now if you need something you have to go to one of three mega music stores. Really took the fun out of it.

Drug stores are no different. Back in the late 70s I got a job at a medical supply place that had a pharmacy. After the big guys started to move in my employer closed it down and went strictly with medical supplies. He was actually a pharmacist himself. People just stopped going to his pharmacy.

The ignorance of you MAGATS is just mind blowing.
I say this as a person with an actual mind.

Remember that movie with the line about "brain the size of a walnut?"
That was not a suggestion to use walnuts for brains.
You can stop now.

Walgreens is doing just fine. So is CVS. They obey the laws of every state they do business in.
Then why are you people whining and crying and demanding Walgreens leave the state?

No wait!!!!! I forgot...

MAGAT Butthurt of the Day.

"Mom and pop pharmacies can't compete against the corporate pharmacies ..."

Keeping something around that can't compete for existence is what in your world would be called "communism" or even worse "socialism"

It does. however, point to the flaw in unbridled capitalism.
Eventually, with capitalism, when the system reaches maturity, there will be only one winner and everyone else loses.

I don't think it has anything to do with socialism or Communism. The fact of the matter is after the 80s recession, the mood of the American consumer changed. We all ran to the cheapest products regardless where they were made. You would think that after all China put us through with their virus, Americans would refuse to buy Chinese products. The Chinese are doing better than ever. Price is paramount to everything in our country unfortunately.
