Our ancestors were great storytellers. In the Bible, Genesis 6:9 - 9:17 it says:
The flood destroyed air breathing land dwelling creatures, not those in the sea.In the Bible, Genesis 6:9 - 9:17 it says:
"And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female."
So, they put two of every species on the ark.
Like sharks, fish, jellyfish....
How on EARTH did fish, and jellyfish and sharks survive on the ark for 40 days and 40 nights?
@Death Angel
Bible scholars say otherwise. What is your theory? Omri was on a mission to reunite Israel and Judah.
Except the Bible says the flood killed all animals on the Earth that weren't in the ark.
What about the fish and other water borne animals?
ok. But the only one it should matter to, sense wise....is....drumroll ....me.This doesnt make much sense.
Its just seems like a contradiction.ok. But the only one it should matter to, sense wise....is....drumroll ....me.
In short...the bible was written by man. Flawed man. With agendas. Writing what they THINK God or Jesus meant. Lots of parables there. Interpreted by flawed man. Therefore....![]()
Sea creatures don't live in fresh water and vice versa. The story is just a myth borrowed from Sumer. The flood destroyed air breathing land dwelling creatures, not those in the sea.
Israel was far more prosperous than Judah so there were other issues besides different versions of the creation stories.I don't have a 'theory', I have the texts themselves.
Everything indicates the pre-flood world was very different. The Bible even refers to it as a "world" or Age.What Noah knew is irrelevant. If the flood happened as fundamentalists believe, the other continents would have been underwater. If Noah's Ark was the only refuge, as is stated in the Bible, no animals not native to the middle east would have survived.
They LIVE IN WATER.Except the Bible says the flood killed all animals on the Earth that weren't in the ark.
What about the fish and other water borne animals?
You can't possibly be that dumb. They LIVE IN WATER.
So that makes them lies?
They are morality tales, not history.Did I say that?
But there are those who insist they are literally factual. Does that make those people liars?

Living "FLESH." Do you know what Flesh means? Reading Comprehension sometimes...In the Bible, Genesis 6:9 - 9:17 it says:
"And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female."
So, they put two of every species on the ark.

I believe it is history. Yes, there is morality teaching in them as one would expect in the Bible. But, there is no reason not to believe everything that happened in the Bible didn't. It did! They are morality tales, not history.
Arguing details of a myth is funny to me. In Sumer Noah was a king who hauled livestock, beer and grain downriver on barges to sell.
The flood destroyed air breathing land dwelling creatures, not those in the sea.
