This is happening everywhere in america. The politicians take huge corporate bribes to fund useless projects and when the state or territory goes bankrupt, Obozo gives them money taken from the well-managed states

The White House says it will step up support for financially ailing Puerto Rico by speeding access to almost $400 million for roads and other public works projects _ hoping to spur economic development

feb 25 2016 WASHINGTON (AP) — Hoping to spur economic development in financially ailing Puerto Rice, the White House said Thursday it will speed access to almost $400 million for roads and other public works projects on the island.

Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, during a visit to the U.S. territory Thursday, was to sign agreement leading to more technical assistance from Washington and more immediate access to money to keep road projects on schedule, said Jason Miller, deputy director of the National Economic Council, which advises the president on economic policy.

Other Cabinet secretaries are expected to follow in the months ahead as the administration tries to help Puerto Rico weather its crisis. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell will visit in April to examine ways to strengthen tourism. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will come in May

This is gonna happen with california and illinois soon too. Politicians buy votes by giving free stuff to deadbeats and then demand a bailout.

We truly have no choice in the matter. The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is an American territory and its citizens are Americans by birth. We have been responsible for it since 1899.

There is little more we can do except help fellow Americans citizens in dire need. Their plight is due to the same socialist failure that were caused by liberal/progressive policies.

Repealing the antiquated and anti-capitalist Jones Act would go a long way in helping Puerto Rico get their financial affairs in order.

Puerto Rico as well as all of the Caribbean continues to suffer from the effects of Republicans 2007-2008.

Yeah, the GOP didn't hold conventions there. Really, that hurt the Caribbean? Well why didn't the libturds hold theirs there? You guys aren't very nice.

Sure thing, because Obamacare and the spike in my medical insurance was all Republicans.

Tourism. The middle class continues to hurt because of Republicans.
Well that's only your opinion and you're allowed that but you can't prove that, see how funny that is

That isn't true, but let's not confuse the conversation with facts.

Imported socialism & welfare strangled Puerto Rico

ACA unfortunately was necessary due to Reagan deregulating the HMO act. The higher than reasonable prices you pay are also due to deregulation of the HMO act
