Obama Ditches Thatcher Funeral

and yet if he would have went.....i bet there would be threads about him going while this attack thing was happening.....just sayin....

You could say he was multi-tasking.

Obama won't work on this event. He hasn't upgraded security on military posts. After 9/11 we had lines at all of the gates checking for terrorists. So far nothing here at Ft Campbell. Not even I.D. Checks at the PX gate.

I'd rather Obama send a delegation to Clarence "Lumpy" Rutherford's funeral.

They may have been the same person.

Did you ever see them together? Hmmmmmm

But I would like to see someone still in office there. It's just good form.

"Grover Norquist has no plan to pay this debt down. His plan says you continue to add to the debt..."
Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.)

Saxby Chambliss was never noted for having a spine. Coming up with a plan to pay down the debt isn't the job of Grover Norquist.

We can ask Norquist about that if he is ever elected President.

Yet another tacky, unstatesmanlike performance from The Won. Neither he nor any active member of his administration will attend Thatcher's funeral. It's a state occasion, given that the Queen is participating. So much for our "special relationship".

Maybe he'll send the family an ipod with some of his speeches as a consolation prize.

I'll also note that the terrorist attack in Benghazi didn't prevent Obama from flying off to Las Vegas for a fundraiser the next day.

Friends and allies of Baroness Thatcher expressed 'surprise and disappointment' last night as it emerged President Obama is not planning to send any serving member of his administration to her funeral.

Whitehall sources have revealed that the US delegation at tomorrow's service in St Paul's Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz.

Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle. However, the Obama administration had said it would not be attending Thatcher's funeral before the Boston bombings

Other world leaders, including Canada's Stephen Harper, Mario Monti of Italy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, are attending the service in person.

President Obama paid tribute to Lady Thatcher's towering achievements when her death was announced last week.

But a US embassy spokesman confirmed that no serving member of his administration would be present to pay their last respects, citing a busy week in US domestic politics.

Former US vice president Dick Cheney and ex-secretary of state Henry Kissinger will attend the funeral, Downing Street said today...

Margaret Thatcher funeral: President Obama won't send envoy - and leaves it to her old allies from Reagan era | Mail Online

Snubbing Thatcher's legacy as she lays dead is probably the finest decision Obama has made since being elected in 2008. The man hasn't got much right, but official disrespect for a political malignancy like Thatcher shows a lot more leadership than it looked like he had in him.

Hundreds of thousands of Brits partied hearty upon learning of Thatcher's death. For every partier hundreds more silently agreed and thousands more understood.

Obama picked up solid ground in England and across Europe not pretending to respect what cannot be respected. No question about it.

What is hilarious is he rounded up a couple of ReagaNUT hacks who probably hadn't shaved or worn sox in months and said they could represent that godforsaken era as official represntatives if they cleaned up a little bit.

Another international blunder by this president.
Obama has breached presidential protocol so many times, it's impossible to keep count.
If in the event of the death of a world leader, the President of the US is required to either be present himself or send a designee with regrets.
Obama and his staff SNUBBED the British.
What a shit head.

obama would have gone to Lady Thatcher's funeral, if they held it on a golf course instead of a graveyard.

The Queen and leaders worldwide have adjusted their very busy schedules to attend what has now been elevated to a state funeral for Baroness Thatcher with the attendance of the Monarchy.

How your President spends his time.....

What? No Golf?

Wassupwidat?

The real reason is that he can't get any political mileage. It won't pander to his base or kiss up to mexicans.

Poland? Czechoslovakia? Greek royalty?

More "formers" than one finds at second tier charity events?

Maybe Obama and the leaders of important nations have a tee time that morning?

Oh the snub is duly noted. The President has hit a new level of low class politician. And not for not attending himself. Obama did inform them early on he'd be too busy.

I thought this would be something the President would attend.
She was a former Prime minister of one of our closest allies....

This is a bit shocking.

If he went the rightwing propaganda machine would be ragging on him for leaving the country in the face of a domestic terrorist incident.

Absolutely.

There is no right answer for Obama among conservatives that doesn't involve his resignation or removal from office.

It's kinda silly really.
